  1. One of the best bargains around.
  2. This is a freshwater fishing site... ;D
  3. Wish I could have made the trip down guys. Have fun guys....
  4. I find this hard to believe that both just drove by unless the situation was in hand with Jones being the Christian that he is and I know and have fished with Tommy Biffle several times.
  5. At the liqour store I work at we can't keep Popov and Karkov on the selves. $10.99 for a 1.75 of Popov and $11.39 for a 1.75 of Karkov. I'm not a vodka guy though, even the Goose tastes like crap to me.
  6. After several recent deadly accidents involving people over the age of 70, Massachusetts is trying to make it so seniors have to take driving tests and more eye exams regularly. RI is now considering it to. I know a lot of statistics are bs but last night on the news they were saying how drivers over the age of 75 are involved in as many "at-fault" accidents as teenagers and when they are over the age of 85 that number goes up to four times as many "at-fault" accidents than teenagers do. The only problem I have with this is it took a few young children getting killed to get this ball rolling. One of which was riding her scooter on the sidewalk this past weekend.
  7. The question is how tired are you? If you are just sleepy then chances are it's your habits. But if you truly cannot function there could be something more serious going on. When I was sick about 6-7 months ago with I could sleep 14-18 hours a day. And even now between somethings and the meds they have me on I can sleep 12-14 hours a day. Which wasn't good when I was at UPS from 4-9am, school 10-3, then working again from 5-10. Also at your age you really need to be careful because it is when a lot of health issues first begin to show up. I would also at least see a doctor to have blood taken make sure you don;t have the typical high school mono or even Lyme disease.

  9. So a couple weeks ago my buddy was supposed to email me a tourney trail schedule. Well, he never did. (Keep this in mind) So I show up to a local pond Sunday morning, and see a bunch of guys I know putting their boats in. Just so happened I somehow picked the lake that the tournament trail was fishing that same day. I started bs'ing with most of them because I had fished a lot of the tourneys the year before and done very well. They ask if I want to join in and I said "No thanks because I have to work at 2." I say this because every tournament I have ever heard of in RI fishes 7-3 with the exception of night timers during the week. So I let them all go and wait to put in. I would have just left and let them had it all to themselves but I had just drove 45 minutes to get there and wasn't about to just go home. So I put my boat in and just go have fun with the guy I'm with. He happens to be one of my best friends' dads who is out of work for a while and just gotten into the whole bass fishing thing because he can't really do anything else. I buzz down to my first area I always fish. No one is around so I decide to fish it. My third cast I set the hook a solid jig fish. Winch her in and it is a solid 3 pounder. A good start to the morning. A few casts later I get a fish about the same size, have her right next to the boat and she spits the jig at me. Whatever. I look to Matt and say "Good think I'm not fishing the tourney, because right about now I would be going bs." We kept on this one stretch of bank I always live on throwing jigs into 6" of water while everyone else is fishing standing timber, rockpiles, humps, and grass. After about 6 more solid 1.5 - 2.5 pound fish I can see Matt is getting a little angered with himself. I would let him come up front, throw at a bush with the senko, and get nothing. The second my jig would go in the water I would have one on. Now like I said he is brand new to it. He is still working on mastering the spinning set-up. So I gave him my heavy cover skipping Carrot rigged with 30 pound Power Pro, a jig, and started teaching him how to do it. It was a fun day and we decided to pull at around 11:45. I had about 15, only 4 fish were under 2 pounds (remember that). Matt had 6 on his newly mastered jig technique. All of his were solid as well. I also caught a possible state record pickeral that was about 28" long and looked like it had a couple perch in it's belly. I think Matt was more psyched about that thing than his half dozen jig fish. So we are going to pull out earlier than I would have liked to so I can make the 45 minute drive home, and I can still have some time to shower and eat before work at 2. When I realize all the other boats are pulling out too. Apparantley the tourney was only until noon... :-/ ;D Knowing this I definatley would have gotten in on it. This lake is noted for it's quality fish, one Tuesday night tournament there I had 10 fish for 26 pounds and came in 3rd. Generally you need a 2.5-3 pound average to win and there is always a big fish over 5. So I'm standing around bs'ing with the guys I know and they start weighing in fish. Everyone has one or two fish. Long story short, 4 fish for 6 pounds wins.......fml ;D I easily had 12 maybe 13 for my best 5 and even Matt had about 9 pounds for his best 5. O well. Any day you can catch a few dozen quality jig fish in 6" of water is fun to me.
  10. I would much rather see a tourney like this than 120 pounds on Falcon. Much more realistic to local bodies of water in my opinion.
  11. Not worth it. I couldn't spend that kind of money for a joke of a warranty like that.
  12. Yup, it's called tournament fishing in Rhode Island. It is always drama and bs and I hate having to be a part of it and try to stay out. But some things are just not right.
  13. I see a restraining order in your future.

    I feel free...

Between the new prop on the Stratos and my head I might touch 66-67. ;D I always load up with the SPF 50 anyway because skin cancer is bad in my family. But for some reason I got lucky and have darker skin than my parents. (UPS mans kid?). I was thinking to load up then alternate an hour on and hour off with the hat when I'm in the boat tomorrow.
  15. Paul I have never had an issue with you. But I know that comment you made was a jab at all of us in the club, myself included. You have been a good friend to me and we have had some great trips together but you are way out of line in my opinion. There is ZERO reason to bring things up just to bring them up and attempt to make someone look bad. Most of which the information is false or rumor anyway. John has been like family to me since I was about 14 and he is one of the best guys around. He is professional and would do anything for anyone despite what you may have heard. He is the biggest reason why the TBF got started in Rhode Island and why it is successful and growing so rapidly. John puts on great tournaments and the clubs he runs are top-notch with some of the best competition around. No offense but have you ever stopped to think of why you have been through so many clubs and so many friends? It seems as though everytime we catch up you have a new problem with someone or some group for high-school like reasons. You need to learn to believe non of what you hear and half of what you see. If you did, you would have had a a great time in this club.
  16. No I did not join a nudist colony and yes I have boxers on under my jeans. But today I went against family history. The past four generations of Broggi males suffer from baldness. All of which have had comb-overs like that of Roy Munson in Kingpin by age 40. Well my hair-line started fading about a year ago and today I got sick of it. I buzzed it as low as it will go. Feels great to say the least. And this thread would not be complete if I didn't finish with, _____ love my new haircut. If they don't, well, most of you should know the rest.
  17. Hope you feel better Paul and the Cape pond trail treats you well. And Stafford was fun as always. Nasty algae blooom but it still threw out about 30 keepers for us. Too bad they were all 12-14". ;D
  18. Should have down-sized.
  19. Can't get them to skip either.
  20. Dice-K needs to be traded for a DH like Victor Martinez and Indians prospects and Bucholtz needs to come up. He gives the Sox a much better chance of winning than Dice-K does. I really think Papi is actually 43 instead of 33.
  21. If you weigh in a limit of 16-18 inch largemouth you might as well not weigh them. ;D
  22. Some awesome pics. A few hundred miles south it has been typical southern New England style. Sunny day, warmer days are great, but tough for big fish. But cloudy days or ones with cold mornings are tough . A real rat fest for the most part too. 11-14" fish by the dozen.
  23. I had a staff deal with them for a few years. There mono is second to none in my opinion. But I started using braid and flouro more and more until only one rod in my boat had mono. I felt like their braid and flouro were acceptable but there were better options out there so I did not renew with them. I still use there Camo line on my crankbait rod and a spinning rod for small plastic swimbaits.
  24. Wow dude, #ick move. :-/
  25. I second this. Now is the time to steal a boat. People in financial trouble will part ways with their rides very cheap because they need the money and the market is flooded with boats and such. I'm sure you could find a mid-late 90's boat in the 19-20 foot range with a 200 on it for 10k. And I have seen a couple of 1980's Skeeter's get trashed because of transom issues. Time to ditch it and upgrade. Unless of course you are not paying for the new Merc.
