  1. Weird, on river fishing around here if I'm throwing a jig at a laydown or bush I can only get hit if I toss it downstream and am heading back into the lake.
  2. I'm thinking about going the guide route on St Clair, Traverse bays, and Burt/Mullet. While I'm sure you can go, and catch fish, I want to maximize my time on the water. A guide could really help do that. Will guides typically let you carry a GPS and mark spots? Seems pretty douchey to me.. :-/
  3. War Eagle's Screaming Eagle in 1/2oz still has a somewhat small profile so I love it. I can chunk it in the wind and burn it without rolling. Once in a while I will throw the McClelland finesse one.
  4. Last I knew they were planning on trying to repeal it because of the "outrage" for lack of a better term.
  5. That's what most of them look like. It explains my high GPA. ;D
  6. I jig fisherman's dream if you ask me.
  7. Thanks for the info. I didn't realize Hornet made them for that long.
  8. If it is closer I would fish Twin Lakes all day before Candlewood. Place has some of the biggest largies around. I have seen numerous tournaments there were 5 largies went over 20 pounds. I even saw a guy in a night T whack 26 for 5. Place is amazing.
  9. Sworming Hornet makes them now. I bet they are better quality and not like the busted you were getting this summer Alan.
  10. Love that place. If you fish 8 fish team tournies there in the spring or fall you better have 30+ of smallies to win. I have heard of 8 for 34 and 35 to win. Hard to get on good fish but once you do it is amazing. Some decent largie fishing as well.
  11. I do it just like how I skip with a spinning rod. I roll my wrist with the rod pointing down and use the momentum of the bait spinning to throw it. Also, crank up the brakes.
  12. To expand on JF's post... You can power fish and finesse fish with shakey heads. I will pitch Spot Removers with Paca Craws and Beavers on them to wood and fish them very quick with a heavy action rod and 50 pound braid. I also power fish with a shakey head with a Robo on it and 8 pound flouro. I will cast or skip it near or under a dock, let it drop, move it about a foot, burn it back and repeat. There is no bait you can only finesse fish or only powerfish in my book.
  13. Usually barefoot but if I have been on a boat more than a couple days straight I have some mesh Nike Shox that are amazing.
  14. After seeing the Beaders signature I figured you could help me... I just shaved the winter beard and realized that when it gets long my facial hair goes red. I have quickly gone through most of the stages of denial but am stuck on depression. I have no will to go on as a ginger. I now know how Eric Cartman felt in the "Gingervitis" episode. I also plan on bringing my mother and various men on the next Maury Povich paternity show because there is ZERO Irish in my family.
  15. It's all good. We were busting on one another...
  16. Who's getting overruns besides the one that Thai mentioned? Thai and Tin..? Only times I get them is when I try skipping a jig that has a recessed line tie... >
  17. LOL....What I learned on...
  18. Trust me, it is possible with any diamater braid. ;D I guess so, but I think the wider diameters seem to help. I agree, it is just that 50 pound braid has what...12 or 15 pound diameter? And it doesn't help that the stuff generally has an edge to cut back down.
  19. Trust me, it is possible with any diamater braid. ;D
  20. No kidding. So 2-3 ft isnt shallow? It is where I'm at. You'll have fish setting up on points before they move into the pockets to spawn. Looks like you've found a dependable prespawn pattern. Nice fish guys! Right on. And by looking at those trees and that area in the picture, if it protected from a northern wind they will just spawn right there around the bases of those trees. Did you have a water temp?
  21. Is that possible? I never thought of that, I'll try respooling with less tension and use some line conditioner on it. Thanks for the replies. Happens a lot. When I have my reel in "winch" mode the line will cut down into the spool. So yes it can be too tight and there is a good chance this is the issue if all the reel setting are ok. I find it useless to use a line conditioner on braid.
  22. My Families in Society class consists of 40 "Snookies".
  23. URI is like 65/35 girls to guys now. But there is one big issue. Three-quarters of them are from southwestern Connecticut, southeastern New York and Long Island, or Jersey. Which means....
  24. I own both Loomis and Shimano's and right now with the Loomis warranty crap (basically add $50 to the price of any Loomis purchase), the sweet black on black, and foam split grip it is hard to beat a Cumara. Especially when you can find them for around $175 and just bring them back to BPS when you break them.
  25. I love Carrots but would take the Kistler...
