  1. It always happens, you will also notice the line fade to a light green too.
  2. You should invest in one of those fish hedz masks so your eyes dont freeze over on the ride up to that river.
  3. They look pretty sexy, any other suggestions on brands of swimbaits that wont take up my whole pay check? And also, are swimbaits primarily a clear water type bait or what?
  4. Its not really bumpy it just looks like it has been exposed to sunlight and it that light green in some sections, and that is straight from the package on the spool.
  5. Yup, love them on senkos and flukes. Usually fish them in grass to get the bait down, when its windy, or when the fish are deeper but thats the only thing you can get them on. The also give the bait a different type of fall.
  6. I dont know yet, I have fished with the line for the past few years to and love it too, but I just dont know whats going on with it.
  7. Thats a pretty sweet looking gambler, whats on the back for a motor? Thing looks like it is just made to scream. And what do you mean cold and putting the boat up for the winter? Fishing a tourney tomorrow and there it is going to be a high of 45 with snow sqwals. lol. Put on the ski gear.
  8. Sounds like a good deal to me and it is the perfect starting baitcasting combo.
  9. Ok in the past month or so I have been having issues with the strength of power pro. I have purchased 5 spools in the past two weeks (2 20,2 30, and 1 45. lbs. test spools). And I have been noticing the same thing, the line is breaking just above the knot, about 4-6 inches of line is left on the jig or bait when I go retrieve it from the brush or whatever its in. Now usually with any of these lines I can pulled down or pull the bait out of small brush and limbs, and usually the limbs come with them. I have not been tied the palomar any different. After an outing the day, I just got really frustrated and went home to make a few phone calls. Two good friends of mine who are usually die hard power pro guys have switched over because they noticed the line having issues in the past couple months. I also went home and test out the line strength because I have a lot of free time lately . I tied the line to a bar and then to another bar below it (palomar knots that I believe retain 99% of the lines strength). Then I started putting free weights on the lower bar and here is what I found. 20 pound braid is breaking at 19 pounds- ok i can live with that 30 pound braid is breaking at 19 pounds- > 40 pound braid is breaking at 24 pounds > If this isnt an accurate test let me know and I will feel better, but I couldnt believe how the heavier line is only about 66% as strong as it is as said to be. So has anyone else come across a "bad batch" or something like that anywhere else or is it just up here. Also I know my other two buddies bought the line at the same wal mart I did. So thats whats making me think it could be a bad batch or something like that. I really love this line and I dont want to switch over just trying to solve another problem.
  10. 1. Just have a couple rods rigged up with the braid for the slop and for your buzzbait and soft plastics. As for rods that you throw cranks and jerbaits on, stick to flouro or mono. 2. As 20-30 pound braid, it usually only has 6-8 pound diameter, and I have never really found a braid that doesnt cast smooth. So truthfully, pretty much any reel that holds a good amount of 6-8 pound test will be ok. 3. Once again it isnt so much how slow the bait is moving as as much as it comes down to water clarity. If it is really clear water you could always go too braid that has 2-4 lbs diameter which is about 1-15 pound test. 4. I'm usually a die hard power pro guy, but I recently tried Stren Suffix, it is thinner and casts better in my opinion. So I might be going over to it.
  11. lmao. whiteface is pretty nice too. and lake placid is a fun place in the winter. definatley need to take a weekend trip.
  12. Russ, if you want to get back into it I think we might need to take a trip up to Jay Peak, good ole back woods skiing with bumps
  13. Thats exactly how i do it, only i cant carolina rig to save me life. Seems like you have things down though.
  14. I remember those days when we could wear shorts and tee-shirts outside, lol. Only another 6 and a half more months. > Nice fish, where abouts do you guys get peacocks in this country?
  15. Thanks for the info, really appreciate it. I'm just looking for another big fish bait to get my average weight in a tourney up this year. All in all it was pretty good, about 2-2.5 lbs average a tourney except 2 or 3. But if I could ge that one 4+ pound fish some I could get rid of that last little one it would have given me more wins this year, I had 4 second places where I lost by under a pound and a half. And that one little guy left in the livewell would always kill me.
  16. Bet there offense will put up over 110 points combined against the fins and jets.
  17. muddy its ok in baseball but not in football for some reason. plain and simple he just broke a rule and is now considered a cheater because of it instead one of the best if not the best football coaches of all time. but now that you bring up baseball, wasnt there an issue with the cleveland indians having the camera in straight away center at jacobs field to pick off signs a few years back?
  18. if you like throwing jigs and spinnerbaits (1/4 oz +) you want a 7' med-heavy rod so you can get a good hookset on a jig and worm. go to 15-20 pound braid ( it has diameter of 4-6 lbs. test). so you can throw these baits around laydowns and in nasty areas (laydowns, brush piles, around or in grass and lily's) and not have to worry about getting the fish out. Plus if you fish areas like this, abrasion resistance comes into play big time, and anyone who fishes with braid, will tell you the stuff is hard to destroy unless you are fishing rocks. now if your fishing lighter baits that 1/4 like finesse jigs, plastics with an 1/8 oz weight, or light spinnerbaits, go medium action, i would stick to the braid though for fishing these types of baits.
  19. Can't wait to see the Pats and Jets play in a few weeks, They will be out to prove they didnt need video cameras to beat them. Final score will probably be 89-3 or something like that.
  20. I'll let RENT my new 7'3" medium heavy carrot stick when it comes in, lol.
  21. NYTEX hit it on the head with that one, those are the three big reasons why I use spinning gear when finesse fishing. The other big reason is for when I'am finesse fishing around docks or shallow cover, I can skip the bait up underneither the target, whether I'm fishing a tube, finesse worm, small stickbait, finesse jig or a floating worm. Also by skipping the bait you are giving the fish a presentation they really dont see much which I also think as an influence on whether not the fish is attracted or tricked into biting.
  22. Tiogue has been ON this year. Its turning into one of the states better fisheries, it doesn recieve much pressure and the fish have a great environment. Plus no boat traffic like that OTHER lake in Coventry, lol. Also DEM says that it has one of the better smallie populations around. I dont kno about that for sure but the smallest smallie I got out of there was 2.5 so.
  23. NOT REALLY HAPPY and 18.4 should not be allowed in the same sentence. lol
  24. 6'6" St. Croix Premier Casting- Heavy action for my jig fishing. But that might be changing when my 2 Carrot Sticks come in :) :)
  25. Ok so a few weeks back I caught a three and half pound largie with a 10 inche brook trout in his gut. It makes me really want to get into swimbaits next year. It something most of the bass in New England have never seen and hopefully it something they will like. But around here isnt the place for huge swimbaits because a quality fish around here is anything over 2.5-3 pounds and the biggest we get is usually between 6-8 pounds. Not anything over 15 or 20 like you guys out west :'(. I would like to try to fish with smaller swimbaits say under 7 inches because I dont have much confidence in really really big baits. So any tips would help. Primary under what conditions to fish them and where (around what types of structure/cover) that sort of stuff.
