  1. I have it coming off the top on both reels when I reline them. Remember fluoro is almost invisible under water, so you can get away with using heavier line.
  2. Tin

    Yikes !!!

Here I'am, dun-a-don-don-dunt-dun-a rocked up like a hurric.. O whoops sorry. Ya not a fan of scorpions or snakes either.
  3. When I do it I have it so the line is coming off the top of the spool. Never had an issue. As for too light on baitcasters, is it loose on the spool? constant backlashes? There should always be tension on the line when reeling it in and fluoro should be put on tight, imo, like braid. Also how the line is coming off the spool could have something to do with how it, play with your magentic brake and spool tension. I had issues when I first started with it, since I started really paying attention to the adjustments on my reel, I have not had a problem since.
  4. I'm sure these pro's will be getting a talking to from certain big wigs, though. Wouldn't be surprised if they are fishing FLW with in the next few years, lol. Couldn't Ike fishing with all those laid back guys though. Him and Dudley would be the most hated pro's in bass fishing.
  5. Spot removers are amazing best one I have used, but Brent's are looking pretty sweet. Might have to get some. Second choice, jigfish.com. Knuckleads for little worms and "finesse pitchin" beavs and super hogs.
  6. -Nope dont bother till the night before you go out. -I put new line on 4 times fishing or everytime after I fish a rocky lake. So I change my line atleast once a week. But I'm just OCD about it too. You can go much longer though, I just have a sponser deal so I'm able to go through line and do not have to pay for most of it. -I go with bulk spools, usually about 800 yards, but I go through it quick. -Shelf life I'm not sure of but there is a big differnece in old/unused line and new/unused line. -Either or, machine when I have one around.
  7. Ya but I get jigs from you so I'am ;D. lol. Dsaavedra might not make the best silicone/living rubber jig but his hair jigs are pretty sweet guys.
  8. Couldn't agree with you more... Nothing wrong with introducing someone to the great outdoors but, I thing 5 is a little young to be shooting bears and not sure but as RW said, I dont think it is legal. And what happened if he missed and the bear came at him???? :-? I'm sure PETA will come out with something and accusing the guy of indangering a child
  9. Everyone can watch a boring game like last night, but they cant nationally televise a good game like Dallas and Green Bay? >
  10. How about that big truck with all the jet-engines on the back of it that is always at all the air-shows in New England??? Sure it throws off a lot of heat.
  11. The fellow you describe is the same fellow I fished with in my one and only club tournament! I would NEVER consider doing that again. I had the same first experience, so I went out and boought a boat I could fish tourney's in. My best investment to this date. When you have control over the day, it is a much better experience.
  12. IMO I don't think any flouro on a spinning rod is "user friendly" but if you put the line on the reel corrctly which most do not, and "troll with it" and put the line on with tension, the Hybrid is not all the bad.
  13. A heat gun or blow drier and a paint scraper or something along those lines will get the glue off. Also to add on to what Zel said, don't forget about the headaches and frustrations that come along with a project like this. My dad and I have had first hand experience with these types of projects and needless to say, things dont always go as planned or like you want. Good luck with it though, when you finish it, it will mean a lot more to you than just a boat.
  14. Definatley, no matter where you go.
  15. Ok no warm fronts, snow Thursday and possibly a "big" snow storm Sunday/Monday. Ice will be out on Pachaug March 26th. I WILL be going crazy in the next week or so. But this site keeps me somewhat sane.
  16. The hardest thing to do with a jig is catch your first fish. Keep it simple, 1/4 oz, black with black trailer. And with all the rocks in your lake, go for a football head design. And flip or pitch to the big individual rocks or drag them around or down rockpiles and rockwalls. Like I said fish it like a rubber worm and it will produce,
  17. Yup, even in the inlets of Champlain you can get 4-5 footers and the main lake can be 7-8 footers. Erie is the same way. If you are running in a boat that isn't glass or under 18 feet, I would advise to stay away from these lakes because it can be calm as glass in the morning and a few hours later you cannot get back. Any wind on Champlain straight from the north or south is deadly.
  18. Don't hear the term dink too much, it's usually always "rats". Maybe it is a RI thing. But anyway a rat or dink is anything under a pound and a half, b/c a pound an a half fish is usually the average fish up here.
  19. Jerkbaits, inline spinners, tubes and jigs always do the trick
  20. Erie of course, the Detroit River, Mallets Bay/Burlington,VT on Champlain, and Sacandaga, NY. Sacandaga has been the place for the last couple of RI TBF/BASS SQT's. It is untouched, no pressure, beautiful, and the average smallie is over 2.5 pounds. To give you an idea of the # of 2-3 pound smallies, in one of the tournaments after the first day places 1-47 were all seperated by two pounds. Everyone had 5 fish for inbetween 10-12 pounds. It was just crazy.
  21. On a rat-l-trap=4 foot paintroller On a tube=frisby On a jig=Shopping cart
  22. If you dont want to travel too much, head to Ticonderoga,NY. The southern part of Champlain is amazing in the summer months. You wont find many fish over 8 pounds like in Cali but you will find a ton of 4-6 pound largies.
  23. When it comes to the sponsers, I'm sure after seeing the attention BASS is getting these days they are just dying to hop on the bandwagon. Are they trying to make B.A.S.S. go belly-up? Or has it already???? :-?

  25. Jets, Fish, and Eli's gang. I dont know if they can be beat. But then again their toughest game of the year was against the Ravens last week so who knows. Chris Burman said it best today on the Blitz portion of Sportscenter, "They destoryed the leagues best defense, so the only way you can hang with them is to have an offense. And none of these 3 remaining teams have that."
