  1. Why is someone with the name of Zoom Baits, asking about Yamamoto baits? ;D
  2. Well, it depends where you are fishing. I am killin' 'em on my ponds, fishing from the bank. This involves extremely long casts to reach structure and move the jig along the structure. 99% of my bites are on the bottom or when being moved off the bottom, rarely on the drop. Profile and size is very important right now in order to have the tailer visible above the gunk on the pond floor. With bigger trailers, the slightest movement impacts the action of the bait. This is the key to the success I have been having. 8-) I should have specified, I meant 90% when pitching and flipping brush.
  3. Rotten no good > :-X
  4. One big adjustment that has helped me put more fish in the boat with frogs is putting BB's in it to make it heavier so it just barley floats in the water. When fishing shallow water you can usually see the fishes wake coming for the bait. That wake will push the frog infront of the fish more thus causing the fish to miss it when it comes up for it. By making the frog heavier the wake doesn't push it as far infront of the fish so the can acctually eat the bait.
  5. For Mallet's Bay fish a 4" watermelon SLIM senko texas rigged with an 1/8 oz bullet around rocky/bluff banks.
  6. This is a presention every jig fisherman should master so you can skip the jig (even though you are on a casting set-up) up underneith docks and brush. Not only are you getting the bait to fish who never see many baits, but the skipping on the top of the water is a presentation that grabs there attention. Also the bait skipping across the water gets rid of that big splash that may spook fish. It is also better than flipping or pitching over brush or laydowns because if you do hook the fish you have the fighting advantage over the fish. You don't have to get the fish over the cover.
  7. My buddy has not sent me the pics yet...6-15.
  8. Best kind of jig for flipping or pitching brush and such would be a jig with an Arkie head design or Picasso/Terminator head design. For weights I like to go light, usually 1/4 or 3/8. For trailers.... as long as it action. I like the Paca's because of their claw action, second choice would be the twin tail grub. I think you are going too deep when thinking about claws and tails. Seeing as though 90% of the hits come on the drop or letting it sit does it really matter? Football jig rod... You will be fine with it but I would prefer something longer because you are usually working deep water with it so you need some extra length for hooksets. Working the jig....I let the fish tell me. Today it was a just let it sit day, other days are just on the drop, some days it is when I'm shaking it like a shakey head, other days are bringing back to the boat. Learn to read how they want it. As for brands thats up too you. I really think the Jewel footballs are hard to beat though, and Terminator Pro Top Secrets are just the best cover jig around, second would be the War Eagles. And when you want to go out and learn how to jig fish, just bring nothing but your jigs and force yourself to fish with them. Also keep it simple, like a black jig with a black trailer. You know it will catch fish anywhere so why not try it to start building your confidence in jig fishing (which is the hardest part). Good luck
  9. Just seeing those things makes me sick.
  10. The Sol on that Carrot is something you just have to try. There are no words to describe how great it is.
  11. I don't see Ardent lasting long.
  12. ;D O this is great.
  13. :-?
  14. In a team tourney it is who is the better at the technique you are using to bring the fish in the box. If it is a singles, sorry. Thats how the draw is. If it is fun fishing, who cares, just have fun.
  15. Ya, you can launch it but that is one nasty lake for rocks, pay attention to what is in front of you. DEM is always there too, so make sure you have everything you need in that boat with you.
  16. Well, I don't want to speak out of turn....but.... There was an incident involving a cleat on the bow of a Bass Tracker... :-[ Bassectomy and I were talking about it because he has the same boat, those cleats just love to break rods. It has now cost me 2 Croixs, a Loomis, and my spinning Carrot. Bassectomy busted a BPS rod on his too. They will just roll underneith, then you go to pick it up without looking and SNAP. Plus I wouldn't have brought it or the others anyway, I have a Rogue Drop-shot rod, no need for another. I really want to try E21's drop-shot rods though. It will be my next buy after I fix my bunk boards, get a new trolling motor, X-332...... O ya Russ, I was out of school May 4th.
  17. OOOOOOO What a day. Got to love 2-4 pound smallies on 6 pound line. And our "Poortucket" drop-shot rigs. But they got the job done. Can't wait until our tourney together next weekend on the big puddle. Thanks again Paul (So you have elf ears in one picture?), it was a great time.... Hey Mass Hole Mike............
  18. Manny will get to 500 before he hits 600.
  19. I would say around the 5.25-5.5 mark. But with that gut it is hard to say.
  20. I like them but we just have way to many pickeral around here in our waters. I fished with them the last 2 days and went through 5 of them. But I will say they but some quality largies in my boat on Weds. When the wind was howling it was raining and the spinnerbait wouldn't put them in. I went through one in 5 casts, 2 pickeral and one largie just under 4. The head just rips so easy. I have found something better and that lasts longer already though so no more for me.
  21. Stafford the 1st? Clubber or solo? And ad for Carbuncle, I would tell your guys to reconsider. That is one of DEM's favorite ponds and they have been known to enforce that bs rule about "hauling or launching a boat with any gasoline engine" there.
  22. Carbuncle is nothing special, I would sneek in to Aquidneck if I were you.
  23. I like the spinning reel, they need to get going on their spinning reel line.
