  1. Bass learn just like every other animal. Don't believe they have a short memory. Any time you try and break a bad habit of an animal it takes more then one negative result to teach the animal especially if that animal has gotten many good results. For instance if you hand feed wild bass worms they will get used to it and become unafraid but if you put a hook in the worm and catch it, it will learn. It might take two or three times before it never eats your worms again but it will learn. Ok how does that apply to your situation? Well if I were you I would change it up a little but not too much. I would hit the same spot from a different angle. I would use a similar bait but not the same one. Maybe a lizard or a jig fished the same way you fished the worm. This has worked great for me when ever fish have become conditioned to a certain bait. Your fish may still eat the same worm presented in exactly the same way but maybe it will remember just like a bass that you used to be able to hand feed. Change it up a little and stay one step ahead of it.
  2. Which hard swimbaits are you using? There are some good ones out there and a whole lot of junk
  3. I make fishing lures
  4. Call them and ask.The guys are very helpful
  5. I imagine that B.S. knows how to spell his own name. I would call the seller on it and maybe contact B.S. he would probably sign it for you
  6. The old Lake Biwa record was caught on a Roman made mother the fish was 18+ the 22.5 was caught on a bluegill.
  7. Don't just take any review as truthful either. ALOT of pro staff or people affiliated write those reviews both positive and negative against competing brands. Unless I knew the guy writing the review I wouldn't be convinced either way. There is a lot of money and ego in our sport.
  8. Its a nice fat fish congrats. Your supposed to close its mouth for measuring. It looks a little short of 22 but not by too much. Go catch a bigger one and be sure and you will appreciate the accomplishment that much more knowing for sure your fish was 22+. Keep at it, that one was close you'll get a bigger one.
  9. I had a bass master classic multiple winning pro call me up and order some baits. I told him I would just give them to him and he refused. He said he couldn't push them or really talk about them because of his agreements with his sponsors so he wouldn't feel right about getting the baits free from me so he insisted on paying. Very nice and honest guy. When it comes to pros pushing products I think its more of them NOT talking about the products they use that aren't sponsoring them, then them overselling their sponsored products. What I mean I believe most of what they are pushing they do use and they do like them. I did say MOST. But I do know that they probably all use stuff that they aren't supposed to talk about.
  10. Yep I agree with everything WRB just wrote! I never met him but I did sse him on SanV when I was a teenager. He looked like a statue in his boat. He didn't move much. I have some worms the were hand poured by Bill. After he died his wife sold some of his tackle on ebay. I had to have them.
  11. I think a camo one would look cool
  12. Speed come on out to Ca and Ill take you. I would want to go with somebody who could put me on a bunch of big fish like Big O. Or somebody who could teach me something that I would like to learn like fishing crawdads will Bob Crupi. Or something different for me like big stripers with Fish Chris or musky with a musky expert or Big Smallmouth with Roadwarior.
  13. Socal has continued to get trout stocks. The problem is alot of lakes like to stock bigger trout for the trout fisherman. Small trout are much better as the smaller bass can eat them and get growing at an earlier age. I have only seen 2 fish I thought were 20+. I lost one and never caught the other but I think Mike Long caught her and she went 19 something. But both of those fish were 6-7years ago http://www.mikelongoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/nightbassing1.jpg Mike also caught this 19.3 a couple years ago but even then its still along ways away from 22.4 http://www.mikelongoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/19-3-Lake-Morena-bass-on-scale.jpg I dont know if we currently have any contenders but its possible
  14. The perch sinks about a foot per second. When I am fishing a slender(non panfish) 6in swimbait it feels kinda small. There is no bass worth catching that cant and wont eat a 6in bait. What I mean is that a 1 pound bass has no problem eating a 6in bait. I have caught a 1.5 lb bass on a full bodies 8in swimbait. An 8in bait is alot bigger all around then a 6in. I beleive in matching the prey that the bass are feeding on. If those lakes have perch in them then a perch bait would be a good choice.
  15. for hollow bellies I think the Basstrix is the best. They swim great and look better then the others plus they are the originals that everybody else copied. As far as throwing swimbaits goes, little hollow bodies are kind of inbetween real swimbaits and other baits like crankbaits. Real swimbaits are best used in specific spots making perfect presentations a few times and then moving on to the next spot. I never disect a spot with swimbaits. If I want to disect a spot I will drag a T rigged worm. Hollow bellies are a little different and I will throw it more before I move on. I dont fish cranks but I do fish smaller swimbaits similar to how cranks are used. I cover water with them.
  16. Crawlers have been my best live bait for big bass. They key is to target big bass with them and not cast them where there are a bunch of panfish. If there are panfish that close then there are probably only small-medium bass around. At least where I fish the panfish avoid big bass teritory.
  17. A 10+ is a trophy for me. A real 10 is still supert hard for most anglers no matter where the fish was caught . Most "10's" are closer to 8lbs Now for me to mount another one it would have to be at least 15 depending on my funds. If I dont have the extra money then it would have to beat 17.2
  18. Thanks for posting Paul thats a good fish! I am glad that bait is working for you. North Ga Hillbilly Thats a newer smaller version.
  19. Thanks fellas, yeah I love throwing topwater swimbaits at night durring the summer. They usualy blast them hard a fe feet away. Can scare you pretty good!
  20. A friend and I went ninja fishing at a golf pond. We started out throwing my baby gill for a bunch of small fish. It was alot of fun but I was hoping for some better fish. Here are a couple of the typical small ones. They were a little bit skinny. Louie decided to use the regular sized gill and he caught a little better fish. So I thought it was about time I try out a prototype. It worked well and I caught a few decent fish. Then we left and hit up a non ninja spot hoping to find a toad. I had a monster blow up, which I swung hard and missed and sent the bait flying towards meand into the rocks but it had only a very small chip on the anal fin and a ding in the lexan bill. so back to fishing. I never did get that big fish to bite again but I got a couple more decent ones It was nice to get out and stcick some fish. I love warm weather at night and swimbaits!
  21. Live trout, bluegill and waterdogs are ilegal where I fish. Live bait is a big hassle. You have to transport it, keep it alive, its expencive or you have to catch it. It definatley can work and sometimes it will out fish artificails but it can be a pain. I still use crawlers though, and they work.
  22. K_Mac if you have ever seen a wacky rigged senko fall then you would know right then why it gets bit. They wiggle all the way down. Kinda like holding a 10ft pvc pipe in the middle and shaking it back and forth. I beleive buzz baits get bit mostly out of iritation. That horrible sqeek and chopping blade make them mad. That why I think they usualy blast them.
  23. tie a closed empty 2 liter bottle to the top of the tree.
  24. Try Barrett it can be stupid easy and good fun. Jennings for cat, and Cap is probably the hot lake right now. You can also fish of the peirs in the bays and its free.
