  1. The law only apllies to fresh water. You can use as many as you want in the salt. It is mainly geared towards the guys who fish for trout and catfish. Those fish are stocked for the purpose of taking home and eating. Branuss04 Thank you for getting some of my gills. Also You will love the Mend-it!
  2. Bizz I like you! you should run for govenor. You actualy tell it like it is. You crack me up. I Have to bite my tounge when guys ask about baits that I know suck. You and Randall are a great resource Slammers are a bit more but they are good hardbaits.
  3. Got to agree with Avid. You just cant risk skimping on cheap hooks. I mean your only saving a few bucks and they DO make a huge diference. I only hate brands that fool beginners into buying their junk. I still cant believ people buy into those stupid infomercial baits. I hear it all the time about about how this lure is so great it is going to be banned from tournaments. I CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE FALL FOR IT!!!! To me they are conning the customers with those adds.
  4. I assure you Avid I am the straightest man alive! I just couldnt think of a good word to describe that pic. The man looks soo distorted. look how narrow his shoulders are comparred to his midsection. I would have guessed Georges biggest fish to be around the same size
  5. Try not to look at the fish and just look at the guy. His torso is super long and his hips are huge. He looks deformed. It could be photo shopped or it could be the picture angle. Either way the pic is very decieving. The fish is big but I dont think its hight teens. I would guess 12-15. Very hard to tell on this one.
  6. Ok first picture this. Your holding the baby bass tightly and I set the hook upwards and hard. What will happen? Not much, your arm will jerk a little but the hook wont stick and then you open your hand and the bait flys out. Now Imagine the bait has vasaline smeared over it and you holding it. Instead of my seting upwards I have the rod pointed towards you and I start reeling fast and swing hard to the side. Now what do think would happen. You would be in the emergency room with a swimbait hook burried into your hand. All "rubber" swimbaits should be lubed. Bass have strong jaws and little teath that can give them a realy good grip on a big hunk of rubber. The lube will make the bait slip and the hook will stick. Also because the bait is slipping its not tearing so they last longer. The hook set I described is better named a reel set because as soon as you feel the bite you need to start reeling fast and swing hard to the side and continue reeling. Actualy you never stop reeling. Any big bait, is prone to be thrown when the fish jumps. The bigger baits just give the fish too much leverage so when you feel the fish rising, reel even harder and swing the rod sideways again just before the fish breaks the surface. if you can do this, it will open the fishes mouth like a parachute as long as you keep presure the fish cant gain control. Thats why we use heavy line and heavy gear so we can control the fish. That Luck craft bait you have is a decent bait. I have one and I have played with it some and it looks good. I will stear you away from the LC premium though. I was at a big show throwing baits in the seminar tank and the LC rep gave me a premium to try. I realy tried to make the bait look good but it hade terible action. The sad thing was the rep was happy and he thought the bait looked great but the audience was full of big named trophy hunters and they all had the same opinion as I did. BTW I am glad you like the bait and thanks for posting!!
  7. Any time a company makes the best they can charge what they want. Of all the current hardbaits 3:16 is producing the best hard swimbaits. They set the standard. If Mickey wanted to charge twice that amount he could and he would still sell baits. not as many but guys would still buy them. His baits are expencive but I dont think they are overpriced. I agree with 4BIZ, currently they are no cheaper baits that are comparable.
  8. One more thing to mention is with the water not so perfectly clear and the weather a little nasty the big old smart fish dont see the baits so clearly so any imperfections made by the fisherman are muted. The big bass are a little bet easyer to fool
  9. I know how you feel I just painted up some prototype hard baits and its killing me not to be able to show them. They have top secret designs to them so I cant show certain parts of them until I am ready to release. I sure do like painting with real airbrush paint though.
  10. well lets see the big baits you painted! That Bagley shows painting skill.
  11. Ebay. the equipment you will need will cost you to get started. Molds, lead pot, hooks,paint.etc. all those things add up quickly. If you watch Ebay you can find deals on all that stuff. My advise to you is DO NOT get one of those lead pots with tha handles. They are horrible and for just a little more you can get a bottom pour lead pot that is SOOOOO much better.
  12. You are correct sir. Out here we have some Tilapia in the desert and they are Mozmbeik(sp) The adult males get realy dard and the adult females are colorful with greens and blues but when they are small they are silvery with light bars. My Tilapia pattern is a generic juvenile pattern
  13. Thats neat! Thanks for posting 4Biz. Are you gonna mary that girl yet!
  14. yes 2 and 3's can take the bait no problem but why would you want to target them. I am betting you have bigger fish than you think you do. They are just hiding from you.
  15. Man you guys just put a big ol smile on my face Thanks for the kind words!!!
  16. I shouldnt have said he would be sure. It all depends on how strong the case is. If its an obvious onfringement and he feels he will win the case he will take them to court. Jason from Castaic also has a lawyer who works on a large percentage and no out of pocket. My point is the little guy can and does win in cort against the big guys. This is why most of the big companies make enough changes to not get sued.
  17. The Okuma 7'6 xhvy is the stiffest rod for bass that I know of. It will throw a 1lb bait. It is WAY overkill. In general the Okuma 7'6 models ave a little hveir then the Okuma 7'11 models. A great all around stick would be the Okuma 7'11 heavy. This will cover almost everthing. Ita a little heavy for my baits and a little light for the big 10-12 inch baits but it will work for them. If the biggest bait your going to throw is my gill then I would go with the 7'11 or 7'6 med hvy. Like 4Biz said, the ratings are diferent with swimbait rods. They are much stronger than a normal bass rod.
  18. I dont need to know the judge. I dont copy!!!!!! Also you dont need to have millions to beat a huge company. Castaic sued Storm over an infringment and won. Storm is owned by Rapala one of the largest companies in the industry. Castaic is tiny comparred to them. Its not how much money you have to defend your patent ,its how strong your case is. My attorney would obviously not take a case he wasnt sure he was going to win. As for the Hudd I agree, its not impessive at all. Niether are my baits. After all they are just rubber fish. Funny thing is they sure seem to work REEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAL good at fooling huge bass. Lucky craft and Loomis arent impresive either. Heck Tritons and Rangers are no better than a row boat. ;D ;D Hey to each his own. swimbaits and their price tags arent for everybody. I totaly understand. It all comes down to why we fish. we all have our reasons. As for the Basstrix, it saddens me that they have been ripped off so badley. I knew it was coming but It still sucks. Hey at least Bruce made a fortune before the thieves got here.
  19. There is soooooo much ignorance on patents its frightning. WOW. First off I kringe every time I hear sombody say you cant patent it because its nature. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! you can patent and or protect anything that is original. If not the intire thing then certain aspects of it. A patent is worth the money if you have it and you KNOW your idea is critical to the design. Example. Larew patented salt in plastics. Very defendable and not easy to get around. A shape is easy to defeat. just change it a little. It all comes down to how hard it would be to get around the patent. Not how much it costs. I have an atorney that will sue if sombody infringes on something I have protected and it wont cost my anything out of pocket. He will get a large percentage but thats fine with me. Also patents arent the only way to protect something. A 5% change is a bad idea if your thinking about coping a protected design. I would make it a leqast 20%. As for sassy shad.....Basstrix little tube swimbaits have been around for about 2 years and have won 100x's more money that the sassy shad and its been around forever but of course they are better. All us trophy hunters must be stupid to spend $20-$100 on a bait that catches fish like this I havent heard of Huddleston either. I think they make spinnerbaits?
  20. The Scrounger has been around at least 20 years before the original chatterbait. It also has a diferent purpose. It is used to giva a soft plastic bait that a wobbling action. Use it on a basic swimbait, fluke, or grub. Dont know how well they work on freshwater bass but ther couldnt be more proven on saltwaterbass. That rubber bill does not effect hook ups.
  21. I agree with Hookemdown. Bizz Mickey sure makes a pretty bait!
  22. Of course I use them. I dont know why anybody who was curious wouldnt buy a pack. There $4. I have zero afiliation with them, I just like the ozmo. My second favorite creature is a Berkley bait. I think its a saber tail bug or something like that. It is also a very strong bait. I would never recomend something that I havent personaly used and had success with.
  23. I use the natural toned ones. olives, greens, browns. They are agreat night bait too.
  24. No I wasnt talking about that Defrecco fish(that was actualy a world class fish). I was talking about the Trews. Dont you guys remember? It was about 3 years ago that the Trew lady and her son cought a big bass around 15lbs and took one pic of it with her sticking it out as far as as she could and submitted it as a new WR. She claimed it was 22 1/2lbs. The IGFA rejected them. It was obvious to everybody who knows big fish that they were frauds. The fish is NO WHERE NEAR 20lbs let alone 22lbs. It actualy makes me mad when I see scum like this pulling this cr@p http://www.flwoutdoors.com/article.cfm?id=141101
  25. Here is my favorite creature and its not expencive http://www.lunkercity.com/ozmo.html
