  1. if there is water current, there is a good chance that fish will be there. they need room to swim, so keep that in mind. a baby brush hog works for me often. I toss it in the current, and the current will carry it. I feel their strikes most of the time, and thats how I know to set the hook.
  2. thats a lunker in my book
  3. drainage pipes are great after a rain. they gather up there waitin for free food to come by. I was fishin my test pond yesterday, and it started raining. had been off and on. and after the rain passed the bite was on. best thing I can tell you is head out in the rain. as long as there ain't no lightning, it may pay off.
  4. great posts fellas. I think I'ma go out today and make some casts with some cranks... its been a week and a half since I went fishin...
  5. live bait, lol. thanks for throwin it in there. I am going to try live crayfish some day with the stictching method. I got to find crayfish somewhere here in NC. maybe stock my pond with a mass amount of crayfish after I get the bass out. gotta find 'em first. thanks for the post RW. I have got to get a depthfinder! I want to fish for big bass, but I don't know what type of structure is where and what kind of structure is there.... :-/
  6. sounds like a great idea man. and its big of you to think of someone else like your lil bro. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm quite selfish... it would have still weighed on me. perception is 100% of life. changes situations from good to bad, bad to good, and I believe it also changes the outcome of those situations. if I don't think I'm going to catch a fish, I won't. I will half-*** it and give up quick. if I think I am going to catch a fish... I try harder, longer and much more thorough. all about perception. great to be aware of at such a young age.
  7. articles, knowledgable anglers, glenn the man (first, middle, and last name, btw), tacklebox of resources, fishing news, AND T-SHIRTS! god you can't beat the T-SHIRTS! or the hat, or the TOWEL! no seriously, its a fisherman and fisherwoman's paradise! you want to know what it really is? you can't go wrong here, thats what it really is.... 8) 8) 8)
  8. great question... no such thing as a stupid question... write that down. lol if they are in big balls, bein chased, you will see them breakin surface. sometimes looking in the water, I'll see some schools of baitfish just swimming around. however, if you see one or two baitfish, I would imagine there are more in that area. take it for granted there may be fish there. however, I'm no expert on this so I'll let someone else answer to this better.
  9. Like I said, lip the sucker after he's netted. you might have done us all a favor for this perfect example. so it wasn't all bad, lol
  10. hah. I got them. I don't use 'em on jigs though, just texas rigged. maybe I needa put 'em on a jig and see how that goes..... 8)
  11. y'all got a link for this jig?
  12. well, thats what fishin is like for me here in NC. well, the 3 local lakes are closed at 7:30, and open around 7 I think. the main one I fish, only allows their boats on the water, so you have to rent a boat in order to fish, and the only other place to fish along the bank is on their dock. >
  13. actually, there is no super hog, my mistake. its just a baby brush hog. anyhow, http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.SearchResults?cmid=TOP_SEARCH_GO that is what a brushhog is... made by Zoom
  14. a super hog is a version of the brush hog. there is the brush hog, baby brush hog, and the super hog.
  15. what brilliant color... thats an amazing fish.
  16. its also what time the bite is for that day. and being there at the right time. a great book in learning to catch big bass, is "In Pursuit of Giant Bass" by Bill Murphy.
  17. thats just called boating etiquette, whether fishing or just boating. some do not know this.
  18. the fish were very active that day, and you could throw about anything to catch 'em. thats a day when you want to be careful to scare 'em (just to be sure, even though their activity is high) and cast a lot! and put the fish back in the water away from where you caught it. hm.. I was just thinkin this would be GREAT! to catch bass on a flyrod. and then you mentioned the flyrod, hah....
  19. I have started fishin this small pond more like RW's test pond... I have fished it about 5 times... this last time I have started gettin bites because I finally downsized my lures. they were eatin up the super hog. my fav is black w/ blue flakes. they don't call it blue though, I forget what color they call it. but its blue.
  20. yeap, everyone likes hoody's. they are quite the apparel. whatever is offered, a few things is goin on the christmas list. ;D
  21. yeah, it would defnitely be nice to get some flashy graphics on the shirt. somethin givin off this websites attractiveness...
  22. I think you all will be quite surprised as to how soft the Mann's hard nosed bait is. I'm going to buy more my next trip over to dick's. great action too.
  23. hm... I would definitely go SMALL! if they won't bite much, then reduce the size until they do... I think a buzzbait might even scare 'em if its a small pond. I got a REAL small pond at my house, and I threw things like a 3" tube or a 6" lizard; they would go up to it, and never hit it. I had to really reduce the size of my bait until they would bite.
  24. notice the word, "painfully"...... :-/
