  1. i want a bigger motor and yes faster is better idk about the law here yet i just moved to new mexico.
  2. i have a jon boat built like a bass boat with the front deck foot pedal trolling motor. all the works..but the motor is to small its only a 9 horse. my brother inlaw has the same size boat with a 25horse on his..could i get a bigger one than that do you think or should i stay with 25 or smaller..
  3. i only have a huge plano tackle box loaded with spinnerbaits buzzbaits cranks tons of plastics topwater and it sucks carrying that 20lb thing around so any ideas for a smaller tackle box for shore walking.in my boat back at home i had a tackle storage box
  4. same thing happend tome this weekend and i used a white terminator silver 4.25 blade and gold 3.5 blade and i caught a few nices ones this weekend and two weekends ago..they were eating threadfin shad.
  5. well we got there friday set up camp went fishing didnt catch anything. then saturday morning i got up bright and early to see the bass going crazy on threadfin shad in the two coves right next to us. soi get my terminator spinnerbait silver and gold blades throw it out there and i lose 3 in a row so im ticked thne i end up catching about a 3lber. so i go to a really rocky shore line and end up catching a 4lber on the spinnerbait those are the only big ones tht i caught my wife caught a dink and i caught another dink. but the last picture shows you not to stay out in a paddle boat to long without sunscreen. first fish 3lb second fish 4lb another pic of 4lber wife dink on senko my dink on spinnerbait me toasted
  6. personally i love fishing small streams for smallies, that and clear lakes are my specialty so i use white spinnerbaits and pop rs the firetiger color for stream smallies. or the tiny buzzbaits. also soft jerkbaits work well to.
  7. well im going to try my luck again there at elephant butte im going to try strikeking zulus in the morning when those bass are chasing all them minnows i think those will work well. then maybe a buzzbait and spinnerbait pop r or somhing like that. hopefully i can get some bigger ones this time. well i will let you guys know how i do.
  8. so 8-6 is the rule becuase is should only be 8ft.
  9. ok guys imgoing fishing this weekend and the truck im going to use the bed with the tail gate down is 7ft..but the only canoe we can use is 15 ft so how do you guys think we should load and cary this to the lake that is 2 hrs away??? im sure someone has carried a canoe in a truck bed before.
  10. i dont know if its the lure or not becuase i have been in ponds where fish have never seen a lure. back at my buddys house he didnt know this pond was on his property its like a small lake. but the fish would just come like crazy to the lures and hold them forever. 2 and 3 lb bass. i have had this happen with lures in ponds a couple of times. so those fish in the tank all they get fed by is the fish feeder people then when they saw that lure they hit it it was somthing different.
  11. yum houdini worm for shakey head..my buddy uses them for dropshot and shakey head i never used them for dropshot. hes had succes on the dropshot though.
  12. in michigan largies 2-4 lbs smallies 1-3lbs also you get alot bigger fish in spring and fall. bigger then your average. new mexico so far 3 bass all 2lbs so i guess 2lbs.
  13. actually the wife is the easy part..she wife loves to fish. the government is the hard part
  14. sounds awesome have to ask the wife..
  15. is anyone invited to this, if i can get some time off from the airforce take some leave maybe. cuz i been reading about this last trip. i dont have a boat though so just wondering if you guys let people ride with you if split the costs of everything?
  16. ok when i lived in michigan it was cloudy and rainy alot so we could catch bass shallow all day and big bass. now that i have moved tonew mexico theres no such thing as cloudy. if you catch bass shallow either its morning dusk or a cloud goes in front of the sun for 4 minutes. seriously if the sun goes out for like 4 minutes youll catch like 3 bass but the sun doesnt go behind much. i was jw how you would fish for bass if you cant find them shallow during the day i know how to fish weedy points like in michigan but rocky and woody i cant seem to get bit. i also dont have a depth finder. so if you guys had any tips that would be nice. most of the points in the lake i am talking about are really rocky and drop off quickly. please give me some ideas. now take me back to michigan me and my tournament buddy couldnt go a day with out at least 10 keepers. i am having a problem with southern lakes.
  17. no trailer hooks because when i put them on i seem to never get bit but as soon as i take them off i get bit. anyone else have that problem.
  18. i havent drop shottted before my buddy that i used to fish wiith all the time drop shot once and awhile and caught some bass.im just wondering what rod should i use and line size for the drop shot. i have a 7' medium spinning rod idk if that would work but thats the only one that would be close that i have. all the rest are light or baitcasters. thanks.
  19. thank lightnin rod maybe i should buy some with sharper hooks do any spinnerbaits have gamagatsu hooks. those are my favorite for plastics.
  20. never thought of that setting the hook to hard?
  21. thats when i set the hook with the spinner bait i set it pretty hard.
  22. well me and my wife got to elephant butte friday night and we had about an hour to fish that night. i had a couple of hits and that was it. so we decided to get up real early in the morning to go try some topwater we get to the lake and the bass are jumping like crazy like out of the water totally so we try topwater but nothing. i decide to put on a white strike king spinnerbait with silver blades and we would see them jump throw over by them and they would hammer it but we kept missing them i got one to the bank and it got off. in the meanwhile there was a bass tournament going on and so my wife was like we gotta rent a boat cuz were going crazy fishing from shore. we rent a paddle boat on a 38,000 acre lake we go to once cove it took 20 minutes to paddle to .the bass were going crazy on minnows i start throwing the spinnerbait lost a couple at the boat then i got two on the spinner and one on a white jig. we were fishing all these bushes in the water idk why the fish were so shallow maybe you guys know. but it was a good trip. oh and how much do you think they weigh?
  23. for topwater my choice is 6-6 medium berkley cherrywood with a pfleuger trion baitcaster. the rod was only 40$ but the reel was 109$ but that setup is amazing for me.
