  1. Caught plenty throwing around and under boats and boat docks. Love fishing them shallow and deep.
  2. Best day i felt like i had and figured out a pattern was 2 years ago home on leave in northern michigan. We got done salmon fishing and was like ahh what the heck lets go bass fishing. It was early november and about 50 degrees out. We got on the water around 3pm at this area that has 2 lakes one smaller and one connected thats a lot larger. Well it got COLD all the sudden and windy and sleeting then calm down and back again but stayed around 30 degrees can't remember water temp. So we were fishing slow trying to get bites with jerk baits and slow fishing tubes and small baits,. Then we decided well maybe there feeding up shallow feeding up during this storm, Well glad we did. We moved into the magic number apparently of 7ft on these grass flats that had grass like carpet on the bottom and it was on. We continued for 3 hrs to catch bass in the 3-5lb range with a few smaller ones mixed in. Stopped counting at 75 bass. We were throwing green pumpkin 3/8ounce football jigs with chigger craw trailers. After it hit the bottom we would swim it back right above bottom and they would inhale it. Also had a lot hit right below surface pulling jige outta water. Man greatest day ever bass fishing. Hope to move back to michigan someday.
  3. Lol thanks guys. That thing stalled forever I put on at 8am and it finished at 10 pm smoked at 250 all day on pecan. First time using that. Next time I do pork I'm using peach. No finished pics because I was knocked out when it finished resting and just sliced and went to bed Lol.
  4. Thanks. My fav is either St Louis spares and pork butts.
  5. Trying out a new rub and saving 2lbs for chili the rest for slicing.
  6. Its actually red cajun mono. I know its cheap and all that but ive never broke a fish off of it and its the limpest line ive used besides braid of course. Alot of people hate on it but im definitely a believer. We were fishing lake fork and i broke off two fish flipping the trees down there. SO a guy with us told me to try the cajun line he had on another reel told me to unspool from his and use it on mine. Well i did. First fish i caught was my PB 8lbs that was in 2008 and ive used it since. Ive used if flipping to heavy cover brush, grass, docks and froggin to cranking 16ft down. Those smallies in my avatar were caught on it to in lake st clair. Love it. Thanks guys for the comments it was good to finally be able to get out.
  7. I have fished Michigan, new Mexico, Texas, Alabama, Missouri, Arizona, Mississippi, and by far Michigan wins as best state. I have never seen a place where u can go to just about any man made lake or natural and catch 3-5lb smallies. And laregemouth in the same lake. Michigan has some of the best untapped largemoth fishing. All u hear about is the smallmouth. And best part is you can catch them from punching mats to fishing 30 ft deep and every technique in between. Now for hardest definitely new Mexico. Tournament winning limits in the 6lb range lol a big bag is 11lbs. I have seen a 17lb bag and people went crazy. And most of the time people don't even limits out. Nit to mention the lack of water in that state. The ones that do are at like 30% capacity. Lived there for 3 years.
  8. Finally go to do some fishing since i got stationed in arizona. Went down to the gila river. Was flipping black and blue jigs to lay downs getting them. Its been super warm here in phoenix the last week or so in the 80s I'm sure winter is over here now. They would only hit when i would find a lay down or tumble weed or stickup 20-30ft out from the bank in about 2-4ft of water nothing though in the real thick stuff near the bank even though it was same depth. And only on main river nothing in the back warmer coves.
  9. My aunt has lived on a small river in Michigan like youbdescribe for about 15 years now. I have fished every in of that river for 4 miles up and down stream and the baits that have produced for that long are always poppers, white spinnerbaits, strikeking 1/8ounce buzzbaits and spro bbz shad swimbaits. Bass are usually in the 2-3lb range. But have caught a few 5lbers and 1 6lber. I love smallie stream fishing.
  10. Not fishing related. I didnt ask for anything fishing related I'm actually trying to downsize my plastics. Because i went through and realized how many unopen bags i still had from 10 years ago lol. So here it is my other passion. Smoking meat.
  11. Ive bass fished all over the country thanks to being active military and still to this day Michigan is the best. You can go out and catch 3-5lb largemouth/smallmouth in so many bodies of water in this state and there not over pressured thanks to walleye and perch fisherman. Not a lot of people know about the quality of michigan bass. Well until the elite series started going there lol. And worst has to be New mexico. I spent almost 4 years there and theres hardly any bodies of water, it never rains so the lakes just go into ridiculous droughts you really gotta grind out there to catch a limit of 2lbers. Then one day someone will come in with 18lbs once a year and everyone gets excited just to never see that again till the next season. Well I'm stationed in arizona now so we will see how this state ranks up.
  12. Same thing was happening to me on black friday. Every time i had everything in a cart the site would go down. Musta been a sign. 623$ later i didnt listen.
  13. Not this guy. I just shop online if anything. Actually just bought 6 powell rods online for black friday.
  14. No lake compares to any in New mexico. Especially elephant butte lake. If you can catch bass in New mex than you can catch bass anywhere in the world.
  15. haha ya i saw that after i posted
  16. i use a medium heavy with extra fast tip. I don't throw spinnerbaits over 3/8 ounce though.
  17. Who here swooped in on the 20% of most everything at tackle warehouse? I been looking at buying all new rods since i just moved back stateside after 4 years. Well i found the powell inferno at cabelas and realized i liked them. I almost bought them at cabelas then realized black friday was coming up. *** was taking forever on getting there black friday deals up and i didnt think they were going to have any. I almost bought them off there then i waited. Its a good thing i did cuz i ended up getting 6 powell rods at 100$ a piece instead of 129$. Should have bought the reels to maybe i will.
  18. That picture right there was around 40 degrees out windy and rainy later october michigan fall day. We were out there 3 hrs. Wish we could have gotten out earlier because in those 3 hrs we caught over 70 largemouth in the 3-5lb range and thats with a scale. Possibly the best day I've ever had fishing. Love that jig color.
  19. IMO the storm series. Football head 3/8ounce with the OOMODGEN1 is the best color. Thats the black and bluish purplish one.
  20. Mine was on a fluke style bait with a weighted soft jerk bait hook. Only reason i was throwing it is because it was at lake fork and people were saying it was working. Tossed it out on a drop off with a stump line and let it sink into 10FOW and bam 8lber.
  21. Pop rs, spinnerbaits or buzz baits seem to work awesome for me in the rain. Its my favorite weather to fish in though. Want to try throwing big swim baits next time. Seem to do better in a medium rain rather than a hard downpour.
  22. Fall is the best time of the year IMO to catch giants. Nice fish.
  23. I miss fall fishing. Nice bag of fish
  24. Day like that i woulda busted out some kind of topwater. Buzzbait, pop r thrown over the tops of the grass.
