  1. What happened to him and where are all his vids. I tried searching and couldn't find them; i love his slammer videos.
  2. Thanks guys. And actually i tourney fished for 3 yrs in mi and 4 in new mexico also. Just never picked it up. My friends just started using it in the last couple yrs. But in michigan the smallies you dont have to fish deep clear water. You can go fish flats or points or rock piles with spinnerbaits, jerks, topwater, tubes all that in 4ft of water almost yr around. The 4 in my profile pic were caught in 6fow in october. All on tubes. We got 33 that day.
  3. Ok guys im from michigan and have never dropshotted in my life been bassin for 15 yrs. Well now that im in arizona everyone dropshots. I really dont want to throw the fairy wand since im a power fisherman. But since im going to have to get over that whats the size of hooks you tend to use? I have 4/0 circle, 2/0 circle and size 1 circle think those are good? Also since im going back to michigan on leave in a month what is your favorite minnow style bait to put on a dropshot hook? My buddies have been killing the smallies at st clair and burt and mullet back home. And im used to throwing jerks, traps, cranks, spinnerbaits for smallies and dont want to be left in the dust lol. They are throwing robos alot but i want to try a gobie or minnow style bait. Thanks
  4. Spro frogs for me. Have averaged 25 bass a trip. And i fish at least once a week if nit twice since i moved here in november. The r8ver here in az is phenomenal. Have caught well over 600 bass this season so far mainly on frogs. Love it.
  5. Overcast day is best time to get out. Especially for topwater. Good job. First time on yak.
  6. Thanks bankbeater. Its frogging and flipping in this river deepest part 7ft. And they are very small holes. Thefish hide in ttrees and reeds all day. Its fun
  7. Wentand did some flipping using a jig. But was using the craw fatty as a trailer after i ran out of chigger craws. I absolutely loved them. They are cheap sonewhat durable and have an amazing action. I love how they float up when on bottom abd the slightest movement they have tons of action. Very hood flipping bait and im going to punch with them too. I would give 8/10 just cuz durability wasnt great
  8. Thanks man appreciate it. Im not to far from you. Im in phienix. Not far from so cal.
  9. poppers then wake baits and walkers.
  10. A little video of how we fish out here at the river. Nothing huge in the video the bigger fish came after my camera died only have pics of those but a good video of skipping and pitching frogs into some brush. Using a powell mag heavy frog rod with 65lb braid and killer gill popping frog. Here is the link to the Video. Got some good slow mo shots in there too.
  11. 5 on there from michigan. Only smallmouth waters mentioned too. Wish they would mention the 20/25lb bags that come out of central mi largemouth waters. Miss my home state. And my wifes parents only live 20 min from number 45 and 1 hr from 17.
  12. Thanks hank. Ill be going out to my secret area on the river again saturday. SO hopefully we kill it again
  13. Lol it does. And 2 of them went through where the hoojs did. So i didnt make a holebesides with my hook.
  14. I fish the gila river in arizona so 13-18lbs. Is what ive gotten here. Average is 14. In michigan where im from 20lbs is pretty regular.
  15. Exactly man. Up north where im at and wife is from. Only way in to alot of spots is portaging or just 9ne dirt road. Alot of times u find some serioys honey holes. Sometines though its a bust.
  16. Thanks glen i figured somebody would say that. Next time. Bankbeater the cover is amazing on the gila river.
  17. Forgot to mention. Was using spro popping frog in killer gill and spro nasty shad.
  18. I miss michigan so much. Im from the north. But ive been stationed and tdy all over the states and fished a few of the best bass lakes in the country. And still have yet to find somewhere where u can catch 3-5lb smallies and largemouth in just about every body of water. And hardly any bass pressure. To be fair though michigan has been voted number 1 abd 2 on bassmaster top 100 bass lakes. With lots of lakes down the list to.
  19. Tried a new section of river the other day and we killed it i caught 24 myself. Fishing some seriously gnarly cover. buddy hooked up with 15 but lost all of them. He is learning bass fishing so all he has is super light dropshot rod for bassing. Im teaching him the ways though. Im using a Powell inferno mag heavy frog rod with 65lb power pro. Skip as far under the trees as we can. That is the only way to get bit. River is max 8ft deep and most spots no more than 3. So fish just lay under the trees all day. Such a riot. Best 5 were 3.32 3.28,3.06,2.0,2.5…Buddy lost a few 3s so should have had a bigger bag but no biggie. The cover were fishing
  20. Dip in jjs magic you wont have that problem. Ive had old plastics that smell all summer lol
  21. Also if your using mono and not braid the stretch could be making you miss frog hits. I use 65lb braid and when I wait that split second you can feel the hooks drive home on braid.
  22. Little bass probably. When a fish comes up and it sounds like a toilet flushing you know its a good one lol. Also if you get a miss hit have some kind of plastic ready to throw right back into the spot you just got blasted. 99% of the time they will thump it as soon as it falls in.
  23. Yes I have done open water and vegetation or up under brush or under docks or around laydowns. Doesn't matter. Im good at frogging and I know it lol. If you can get that bait to get some nice action then twitch it and move it and pause it or whatever you can get them to bite. The other day in the river I fish here in Arizona the fish were busting on shad in this muddy river. Out in the middle, I told my buddy watch this and whipped my frog out there and nailed a 3lber. Now everytime we go to that section of river there is always bass busting there and we get them with frogs everytime.
  24. I love fishing jigs under and around docks and laydowns for shallow water. Then I love fishing them in deep water off points or humps with grass on the bottom. Just hopping it along kind of fast is the best IMO. Then all the sudden you feel weight and boom set the hook.
  25. I was 16 also when I joined my first bass club. That was 11 yrs ago. I had been bass fishing for about 3 yrs hardcore then. Had a 14ft Camo jon boat and all spinning rods. Flipping Froggin or dropshot didn't matter I was using a spinning rod. They were singles tourneys me and my buddy would fish outta that camo boat like it was a ranger lol. First day at the ramp was kind of weird especially when all the other kids dads had nice bass boats and everyone looking at us like for real lol. But we had a homemade live well and did work that season. I finished 9th out of 50 guys for the season and made the classic. Don't worry about what others think. Hopefully you meet a good guy and will make a friend and can go out with him and learn some stuff.
