  1. Sacked up a bit over 21lbs for a nice day. The 6.5 came on the Deps MIDST 1/4oz Drift Fry combo.....then the other 4 fish that made the bag were between 3.5-4lbs and all came on the spinnerbait. If I'm catching them on a spinnerbait, I've thrown the entire tacklebox 😆

  2. What's your bass fishing superpower? It might be reading an FFS screen or casting or skipping or boat control or record keeping or having good hunches or anything else. Only share one: Mine is paddling. I fish some pretty tight quarters where I have to squishedy-squeeze my canoe through the slots and there are rocks and trees that I cannot bump or I'll spook the bass, so I have to paddle like a creeping cat. Plus, I often have to paddle several miles, which requires straight line paddling and efficient strokes. The pics below aren't to share bass I've caught, but where I catch them. For me, good paddling lets me fish places like this:

  3. First trip in TX this year because I’ve been busy. Turns out they are still biting a jig. These bass have no style, man. They just wake up, eat jig, go to bed. Caught a few small ones and missed a bunch unfortunately. Here’s the best one at just under 3lbs. Happy to be back on the water 😎 #returnoftheshades

  12. I would say my super power is not letting the skunk in. It’s a very very rare occasion that I can’t put at least one bass in the boat. I’ve been skunked exactly one time in the last 8 years. I don’t fish specifically to not be skunked, it just works out that way.

  17. Not a super power but I guess my biggest strength is bouncing sinking lures off the bottom . Worms, jigs, Rocket Shads, Swim baits, lipless baits... I have a ton of confidence in that style of fishing.

  19. Oh, I could catch one. There's an ice fishing tourney at my pond this weekend. It's just that standing over a hole in the ice is as much fun as this: Reference the image above your comment.

  20. Have you recently checked all your guides with a Q-tip? If you spent better part of a day using it without a problem, then the new line is fine, but a problem was introduced during the day. I can go days without re-tying....or I may need to re-tie a jig several times during a day. 15# INVISX is outstanding line, in my opinion.

  24. Thank you my friend. And it's true, most of the rods you couldn't tell the difference between them and one shipped straight from TW. And I only put the retail price in there for when I post on FB marketplace. Not everyone are fanatics like us here so they don't realize how much some of these rods cost nowadays.

  26. I bought a clip that attaches to my windshield last year that holds my phone for a timed photo. Since I fish solo sometimes, and I wanted an action shot of some fish in addition to laying them on a bump board, this seems to have solved my problem. I got to be pretty good at it as the season progressed - with bass. When I caught a muskie though, that was a challenge. Not a great photo because of the sheer length. Hopefully I can improve on it this upcoming season. Course, when someone comes with me, they can just take the photo for me. I tried to get my dog to do it but she doesn’t have thumbs.

  27. Thanks a bunch Aaron! It really baffles me how I can go the entire Fall catching a handful of 5lb+ fish, and then the winter rolls around and that's possible on a single day. Winter comes when I'm just about to cry uncle from a losing streak 🤣

  29. I got my unicorn today. A lot of close calls, but only 2 bites today. She bit a MB 110 FX late under cloudy skies just as sprinkles were moving in. Went 8.20 on the Rapala and 8-1/4 on the Chatillon. Water already warmed up to 55 degrees, but I’m sure that’s just surface. A good 4 days or more of rain next week will probably change everything.

  31. Hopefully it's ok I post this here. I will be selling some rods soon. I feel like the pricing is quite fair but wanted to get feedback from you guys if you think some are too high/low. I'm hoping to do pickup/meet up so I don't have to ship. These are the casting rods I'm selling. I take great care of my rods (kind of OCD) so most rods are like new. I'm talking no scratches or anything. Perfectly straight blanks and guides. Some older ones might have a few surface scratches by the hook keeper, but nothing crazy. Rods are listed by length. 33. The 7’3 XH is my frog rod. I will say it doesn’t do too well with the lighter frogs like the kaera but will def do the job. Doubles as a great single hook big swimbait rod too from what I’ve heard. For pitching jigs and texas rigs into grass I picked up a Steez AGS BC2 so I’m looking forward to using it next season. Also, I think I’m in a similar situation as you with the additional spinning rod. I asked a similar question here: Thinking my next move is going to be a P5 Windbuster. Best rod out of the ones I had mentioned for soft and hard baits. Plus I’m really starting to get into the free rig after having some success with it last year…

  37. btw if anyone is wondering what i meant by punching nasty stuff like Roland Martin on Okeechobee: 'that big old bass broke my dang gum rod' ^ I'd argue this guy is one of the best of all time and this video inspired me to throw my lures into crap I used to be afraid to throw them into (although I still have yet to snap a rod like he did).

  39. very true around here. Weedy natural lakes for the most part. Plenty of pads, milfoil, and pondweed. I stayed off the heavier rods for a while, but then once you start fishing one you realize how much easier it makes a lot of things.

  41. Not sure if you pulled the trigger yet but this question stood out to me as I found myself in a similar spot a while back. Long story short I'd personally argue you need both but it depends on what you want to do. In my case here's what I'd do w/ these 2: 7'4 H -> frogs, flipping and pitching into all but the nastiest lake okeechobee roland martin type stuff...heavier spinnerbaits and heavier jigs...maybe like a 6" magdraft or a mini a-rig but that would be about it 7’3 XH -> if you want to get into swimbaits more this would be the starting point as you could start looking at stuff like a 6" shadtron, bigger a-rigs or a 5" bacca burrito...probably also better for an actual 'punching rod' where you are pulling them out of really nasty stuff. If I didn't own either I'd start w/ the 7'4 H...that would get you most of the way there and you could still throw smaller swimbaits on it and decide if you want to branch out.
