The bait monkey told me I needed to up my cold water arsenal with a couple things..... so of course I listened. The holiday sales at TW definitely made his point a little more valid.

Excited to try these Luck-E-Strike RC STX. At that price point I would love to be able to stock a box full of them and not worry about losing them when at a lake with lots of cover. However, based on some you guys' reviews, I will be upgrading the hardware to Gammy round bend and hyperwire split rings.
In this video I share how I have stored my Rodents (beaver style baits), Shimmie Sticks or Ochos and why for years while competing on Tour.
Thank you for watching!

Like to give a big thank you to Mike Siebert, a sponsor of bass resource from Siebert outdoors.
Apologize as I think the package arrived several days ago but I've been out of state.
Mike hooked me up with some straight up killer looking jigs! I've never got to fish his stuff before, but I cannot wait. The detail and quality is bar none. If you haven't bought from him before I would not hesitate.
Thanks again Siebert outdoors!
Yes! For us here in the northern hemisphere, it is the shortest day of the year. After today, we slowly start tilting back towards the sun. Our days will, little by little, begin to gain daylight. Get ready bass! You need to start thinking about the pre spawn! For the rest of you, start exercising so you'll look good in your swimsuits.
I have the wood version that I purchased about 10 years back, but it is unusable today. Water had penetrated the wood where paint had worn off and the joint failed. It was a good bait before that and landed me some nice fish. I think this injected body is an upgrade in the right direction and I'm looking forward to using it. I watched this video after I received this newer version and I think I scored, thanks to @J._Bricker.

Took the kayak out today and landed 11 slabs. Vertical jigging with double 1/8 oz chartreuse jigs (loop knots) in 17 ft of water. Bobby Garland Baby Shads were the ticket (confidence bait). Pearl Chartreuse caught the #’s but Blue Thunder landed the two largest - including my new PB!!!
2 days ago when driving home from work at 7 pm I ran off the road (lucky no one was hurt) and family admitted me to the hospital as I was completely unaware that I ran through 2 of the yards in my neighborhood and running over bushes and shrubs. Somehow got home and was so clueless. Co-workers have also witnessed small cases while at work. Went to the hospital and it appears that I had an absence seizure in which I can no longer operate any motorized vehicle (boat, truck, etc). Very upset as I scratched my new vehicle all which can be buffed out but having to pay $350 and now feel useless as I have to taken everywhere and my family is scared to let me do anything alone. The next few months I will be back and forth to doctors to hopefully figure everything out and get back to fishing.
To those of you healthy mentally and physically, enjoy it and always be grateful! Happy Holidays and be safe!
Putting together a bucket list you might say for when the chemo/rad is done...was told to get er done by Docs.....so anyway planning on hitting Lanier this spring for two or three days and was told I may want to stop by Carter's Lake also....last lake will probably be Chic on way home for the day....was thinking of Pickwick but just may be too much time away for son.
Hope to hit road in in Feb....
You’re too hung up on the High Modulus aspect. Just because a blank isn’t marketed as HM doesn’t make it a dead stick. You’ve gotten some good suggestions. There are sooo many blank options nowadays I rarely if ever chop anything any more.
I watched this video a few nights ago (great review BTW), which reminded me of the bait. And then I saw your post. I think I'm gonna have to get one. Now I have to decide on what bluegill color.
Now if that doesn't look real...
Wow .... keep it up you all. Stacked bricks for hour and half....did some hill walking. Went in for second eval of the chemo/rad....doc was a princess...said I'm in top ten percent for an old fart going through this stuff. Kinda makes me feel good....tired....but good. Not a chair person....maybe in ten years when I am lucky enough to turn eighty....NOT.
The most expensive bass fishing rod I own and still use is Fenwick Techna AV that cost $300 in early 90's. The reels were Daiwa TD HTSA 103 that cost $175 in the early 90's.
Light weight high tech even by today's bench mark.

I have never had a bite on a jig. I have only caught a few on wacky rigged senkos ( although I slay them on a T rig. ) I have stated that on several other threads.
A deep dark secret?? ? ??
I eat bass( no , not all of them)
I use live bait sometimes.
I fish bass beds( I do throw them all back )
Now That Ive offended half the people on the forum, I’ll quit.
I use popping rod Loomis PR845C 7' rod that isn't anything close to what is being requested with the exception it cast light weight 3/16 oz lures and enough power for 1 oz structure spoons.
The original response to consider a popping rod blank appears to be on target to me. Looking for a parabolic bend without a slow tip is tall pole to climb.

Man oh man oh man ..... truer words were never spoken! Sometimes we choose to do stupid things that make us want to live in What-Ifs-ville for the rest of our lives. That's bad, 'cause that's a town that has all dead-end streets. ☹️ jj
I live here and I do fish in the same conditions except for one problem; we froze over 3 days ago. Hope this warmup opens us back up before the next cold snap. Counting on some Christmas action.
I thought the same thing about the new MP, all of my casting reels are MB's but needed a left handed 8:3.1 so decided to order the MP. It is actually a nice looking reel once in hand. The red is actually not that bad in person, in my opinion! Nice reel from the little bit I have messed with it since getting it.
The 8.1 definitely on the flipping rod, the 7 is too fast for a cranking rod in my opinion. Cranking reel is usually in the 5:6.1 gear ratio range. At least that is what I use, the 7 is what I use for just about every other bait I throw.
I'd go with your original plan:
8 speed on the flipping rod - you want the fast retrieve to get the fish out of the 'salad'. 50# braid if it's moderate-thick weeds...higher or lower test depending on the weed density
7 speed on the cranking rod - even that's fast for my tastes...I was always having to slow the retrieve on my 7.3 President which is why I got the Nitrous for a 'fill in' crank reel until I set up the Fuego/Fury rig. I'm going with straight 12# YZH on that.
Dunno about the knot - I don't use leaders.
Just bought one and posted in the sale thread before I saw this. Its an absolute steal at $80. I got the 5.6:1 which has a larger spool and longer handle. I was looking at the BB1 for cranks but this is perfect for me. It's a shame theyre discontinued. The new tournament MP looks like the same reel for 10 more dollars (and gross red coloring).
(I know I'm gonna open a can of worms with this one)
Exactly - where else can you find a sport where you spend thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours of time to catch something that you...throw back?
Precisely what this thread is all about! For whatever reason, Pflueger has sought to "improve" upon a great product. They are following suit with Shimano apparently. Giving the angler less at a higher cost.
After the holidays, I will go on a search & destroy mission to find a couple of older $6920's. These are just fabulous reels. And from what I'm hearing for many of my sources, their "improvement" leaves a lot to be desired. Shame.
Be warned...there is no dabbling. Get a few huds, some s wavers and gantarels...the next thing you know you are looking at 200 dollar custom swimbaits.
You otter not hurt them. I like otters. They are fun to watch. When we go flounder fishing in Chincoteage VA. you have to tie the doors shut on your minnow buckets overnight because the sea otters use them like smorgasboards. I have seen them empty all the buckets in the marina overnight. Free lunch man !
