  6. was on a local army corps reservoir today and the surface temp was 58 degrees. we have open water most of the year. The 2 local power plant lakes always have open water. in my area deer bow season lasts from the end of September through January. January is doe only, but it is a good time to fill the freezer. I honestly don't even start deer hunting until mid November. after checking my camera tonight I may have to start hunting a little earlier. if I get the fishing itch in January or February, I will head to one of the power plant lakes. By the end of February the cold water lakes are usually fishable.

  9. I have seen the same pictures as you....it's not 9lbs. But what irks me more is the guy has his hat on backwards....idiots who fish with backwards hats should be arrested. Now excuse me while I go chase some kids off my front lawn.

  10. Last week I was fishing on a cold wet day when I got a backlash on a jerkbait and my rod popped out of my hands overboard. Of course I had the autopilot going and the rod I grabbed to snag it with before it when down too far got tangled with the rod next to it. Basically everything that went wrong did. However, this story has a happy ending, the lake I was fishing is super clear so I went back up yesterday since it was finally a calm day, I cruised back and forth over the area but didn't see it. We fished for a while and went back over to the spot when the sun was higher but a slight breeze was making it a little difficult to see in the water. As we drifted over the area looking on the downwind side of the boat my dad spotted it in the first two minutes. We tossed out a marker buoy and ended up having to tie a big spoon on the end of my aquaview to snag it out of 16ft of water. Even though the fishing wasn't that great yesterday getting my rod back made my day.

  19. My bad. Your right I should have used the word "estimated" not close. For the record, I didn't say you said anything. Look at the previous posts. What I read was a bunch of guys knocking the fish and/or the angler down when the angler isn't the person who made the claim. Heck the angler wasn't even the guy that the post! The PA officer may have got it wrong or he may not have. Either way we will never know. It's just a big fish that some guy caught with his dad. Good for him! The key word is "estimated". It might not be 9lb but by judging hand size and estimated girth it's a big fish. Clearly not a 5lb'r. The truth is most of these guys have never held a 9,8 or even a 7lb'r myself included so they don't truly know what one looks like.

  20. Yeah I'm curious if that is a guesstimate? I swear my scale was broke, this was 8.15 on my scale and looks much larger.

  21. Decided to try out the 6th Sense Super 6 box. I subscribed to the version where they claim they hand pick baits based on your fishing style and region according to a from you fill out. 23. Why are you guys so eager to trash a nice Fish? He never said it was the state record. He took a pic and let her go. then showed the pic later to a F & G guy and HE said it was close to 9 lbs. The angler didn't know what he caught, only that was a big one. If he knew, I'm sure that he would have weighed it IF he had scale. You PA guys should thank him because she's swimming free for the next guy. Plus she's gonna make lots of babies! For you nay sayer's, that fish is slob and is definitely near 24" or 25". WRB's #'s are correct. That fish is 5 hands long. Do the math. Is it a state record? We will never know. Catching a potential record and letting it go isn't unheard of. I know a local angler here that once caught a potential state record. 7+lbs on his scale. He caught it on a Weds. in the middle of nowhere. He didn't have access to a certified scale so he let her go. Some of you guys may call BS on that but it's true story. To back it up, he went out and caught a bigger one! That one is certified as the new MT state record. Congrat's to the angler!

  24. If that bothers you you are a tiny bit sensitive, if it bothers you enough to rant in a forum about it, yes you are way too sensitive. LOL

  25. Now your friend is just plain funny. If he is doing well with Senkos in a retention pond then let him have his fun. I bet he knows he would phloch if he went fishing in a real boat and had to use other baits when the Senko bite is turned off. I would pepper him with questions about what colors he uses, the sizes, presentations, length of his rod, line test, hooks, how he rigs the Senko, has he tasted the salt in them, does he use any weights, where does he buy them, how does he store them, does he use any scent, has he used any coloring, like JJ's Magic, how long does he let the dinks run before he sets the hook, has he had any problems with the dinks swallowing the Senkos, and anything else you can think of to drive him nuts. He will either continue to brag or run away when he sees you.

  34. Look at the bright side, ice fishing season is just around the corner ? I usually take the few weekends between open water and ice season to clean my gear anyways so there's always something at least fishing-related that I can do.
