  4. Got out the other day with the lady . We had a blast with senkos and jig/chunks. They were all about the same size. It'd be a better picture If I could upload more than 857kb. But it is what it is.

  6. Well, decided to visit the Zoom factory today and it was a treat! They are very close to my Grandmother's house and we decided to stop by and check it out. We called ahead and when we walked in it was amazing to see the process of how the lures were made. It was very cool seeing the effort that goes into producing a bag of soft plastics and the people who were responsible for my success with their lures. They gave my brother and I each a hat, shirt, and a pack of unreleased frogs! The lady who showed us around was very kind and knowledgeable about the company. Just a sort of shout out to a great company. Also, the new frogs are a great addition to the zoom lineup, louder than a horny toad. Can't wait to fish them!

  8. THE OSTRICH! A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him. The waitress asks them for their orders. The man says, “a hamburger, fries and a coke," and turns to the ostrich, "What's yours?" "I'll have the same," says the ostrich. A short time later the waitress returns with the order. "That will be $9.40 please” The man reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change for payment. The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man says, "A hamburger, fries and a coke." The ostrich says, "I'll have the same.” Again the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change. This becomes routine until the two enter again. "The usual?" asks the waitress. "No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato and a salad," says the man. "Same," says the ostrich. Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, "That will be $32.62." Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table. The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. "Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?” "Well," says the man, "several years ago I was cleaning the attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there.” "That's brilliant!" says the waitress. "Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!” "That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there," says the man. The waitress asks, "What's with the ostrich?” The man sighs, pauses and answers, "My second wish was for a tall chick with a big behind and long legs who agrees with everything I say."

  11. I had gone out in the kayak on Monday for about 6 hours and caught one 2 pound bass. Went out again Tuesday and had trouble fighting the winds, keeping in place, I was getting blown all over which made it hard to fish specific locations. After about 4 hours I decided to head back in and go do some chores around the house. As I was paddling in I noticed a steep drop off on my depth finder, going quickly to about 10 feet close to shore with a straight line of weeds on the shallow side. I decided, why not, one more cast with a wacky rig..........well, the proverbial "one more cast paid off with this one that came in at a little over 3 pounds, a nice way to end the day!

  13. Spinner baits create lots of flash and displace a lot of water and large profile to attract bass. Represents several baitfish. Chatter bait creates a different sound with less flash and smaller profile to attract bass. Represents a single baitfish. Spinnerbait for very active feeding bass, best with light wind creating some ripple or waves. Chatter bait for active bass, best where a crankbait can't be effectively used or a swim jig is getting followers without striking. Tom

  14. If I don't get a bite with a couple pitches to the same spot do I move a few inches? A foot? A few feet? It doesn't matter. What matters is that you keep the bait in the water by anything that looks out of the ordinary, be it changes in the grass, a drop off, a tree, bush, stickup, dock, pier, rocks and anything that could hold a bass. You will make a short pitch followed by a long pitch and then everything in between. That is the fun of pitching and flipping. You keep on until you get a bite. On rivers with current, let the current take the boat down the bank and use your trolling motor to avoid overhanging trees and hitting the shoreline. Keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. And then, pitch and flip to anything in the ordinary!!!! This is bass fishing and there are no rules.

  15. A fishes strike zone can vary upon mood and water clarity. If the fish are active, they might swim 10-20 feet to bite something. Other times, they might only move a foot. Water clarity is another factor too. In dirty water, a fish isn't going to swim 15 feet to something that it can't see, so you'll have to put it right by their nose.

  17. A swim jig with a Rage Menace grub on the back has been a hot bait for me this summer. I like using the swim jig on pressured waters where the fish see lots of flashy (spinnerbait) or hard thumping (chatterbait) lures all the time. It's a much more subtle presentation. Great thing about a swim jig is fishing it around isolated large clumps of grass. I can flip it into a mat, hop it once or twice, then pull it out and swim it around the edges of the mat. You'll catch fish both ways doing this.

  20. Looks more like a channel cat than a bullhead in that picture. A sure way to tell would be if the tail was forked or not. A forked tail would be a channel, straight tail is a bullhead. They sure can smash a topwater though. Took my oldest boy exploring in a creek for the first time. Caught a variety of fish, but the spawning longears are awesome looking fish.

  27. Caught this AM on a 20 acre pond in Vermont. I was about to give up as it was slow and I kept catching pickerel. Just throwing a keitech 4" easy shiner on a 3/16 oz. jig head with light tackle. The drag let out a scream and it was on. 4.3 lbs. Biggest one of the year, so far.

  28. Got my biggest of the year this morning. This fish was on the thin side, but it had a giant head and mouth and was 21.5" long. Got her on a LiveTarget popper. She just barely sipped it in with no blow up or boil.

  29. Don't know where this should be posted, so hoping the mods will kindly move if needed. I'm just curious... I love this site and am thankful for the community here. And that's why I wanted to see if anyone else is having slow page loads and dropped connections when loading new pages of content here lately. Not sure what's going on. (Begin nerdspeak) : It seems to be a latency/lag problem rather than something like a DNS or relay issue... though I am on Comcast who's been playing a little loose with bandwidth of late. Just wanted to raise the issue in case others are seeing things, too. I know the site owners would want to know, and I hadn't seen it discussed.

  30. Often, fishermen are casting well but the bass are not biting at all or they are not biting what you are throwing. Bass get into moods: 1) chasing and eating; 2) chasing but rarely biting; 3) biting but refusing to move more that 3-4 inches; 4) not moving and not biting; 5) Swimming in full view of your boat on a sunny day but refusing to look at a lure; Etc. I have watched largemouth and smallmouth in clear water ignore baits they were chasing and biting an hour earlier. Sometimes you are casting right in the face of bass that will not cooperate. For whatever reason, they are not feeding actively. There are debates regarding whether bass can be angered into biting. I do believe that modifying your presentation helps sometimes. Casting the same way and hitting the same spots or within the same proximity can bring different results sometimes by just slowing WAY down or going finesse. Going MEGA helps too sometimes. I actually fished a large (10 acre) pond in Missouri where the bass we caught averaged 3 lbs.with several over 5. They would not respond to a 6-7 inch worm but hit 10 inch worms with some degree of regularity. We fished that pond several times with that same response. 10 inch worms were not the ONLY thing they bit though. They liked Stanley Ribbits too!

  32. (This is not to be derogatory by any means) I have been to fishing seminars with Skeet Reese demonstrating crankbaits using Strike King baits but pushing Lucky Craft. I've been to an FLW Weigh-In and seen anglers decks loaded with one brand of roads that is not their sponsor and they throw them in their locker and pull out their sponsors rods before getting in front of the crowd. I can't say for certain but I am sure majority of professional anglers use other gear than what they tell us and try to pull the wool over our eyes for a payday. But its a business and I wouldn't have it any other way. When Ike left Daiwa for Abu he was already using Abu while under Daiwa contract, Aaron Martens was developing Engima Rods while promoting Megabass. That is why I take professional promotion with a grain of salt.

  34. Thats just a part of patterning the bass. Gotta learn where they are and how many pitches till they bite. If they are setting up in the ends of laydowns, then a second pitch a few inches left or right may result in a fish. Or if they are set up on a grass line a second pitch close to your first may not be productive.

  35. All my fish on the 130 have been during a slow, steady retrieve. I think a lot of people fish them too fast. I always have to tell guys on guide trips to slow them down, always seems to get immediate results when they do. I reel them just fast enough to get them plopping.

  37. Easy there Seneca. If you think you have never been lucky then you are the most self centered person I have ever known. I know that quote sounds cool, but if you have never had a bad storm just miss your location, catch a few extra green lights, get that fish in the boat as it came unhooked, or even made it to the john in the nick of time, then you have been lucky. In fact, you're lucky your arm doesn't hurt from the patting yourself on the back. BTW, YES, I have been lucky thousands of times in my life.

  42. Just an FYI - I'm fully aware of the issues and am working on them daily with developers and server administrators. This solutions are complex and complicated, and could potentially disable the site if not done right. So it's not a quick fix. It's going to take some time to resolve. I don't have an ETA. As such, I am closing this topic and will not respond to this or any new topics until the issue is solved; at which point I will reopen this thread with an announcement. In the mean time, rest assured I know far more details about this problem than you, and am working on it as quickly as possible. There is no need to continue posting about it any more. Thank you again for your patience. Glenn

  43. So we waited for the sun to go down and went to the lake, seemed like the perfect time. My sister landed a fish and was upset when all she had was "slop" and it got away but to her surprise there was something else under there. Let's just say she was really happy and proud when "her" bait she picked out for us to use worked. As for me, I didn't catch anything but i am using a new bait caster rig and i do like this setup but i haven't caught anything on it yet. I'm still trying to figure out how i can cast a t-rig senko just out pass the dock and slop and not bringing in slop on every retrieve would be great. <3
