  1. Marriage Questions - Children’s Answers 1. HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHOM TO MARRY? You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming. -- Alan, age 10 No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you’re stuck with. -- Kristen, age 10 2. WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED? Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then. -- Camille, age 10 3. HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED? 3. This ties in to fishing, I swear. I happen to be a Baseball Dad and a baseball coach to my son and every now and then I look out for giveaways, especially with Wilson Ball Gloves because they occasionally give away $400 baseball gloves. One of the promotions they have is Wilson Wednesdays where you submit a picture. This week they were giving away a custom A2000 special edition All Star Game glove. This is the glove they gave out to MLB All Star players that wear Wilson gloves. Anyway, this afternoon I get a message on Twitter from Wilson. I didn't win the glove but I did win some shirts and All Star swag with the picture below that we took at one of the lagoons that we fish. It's been blazing hot hear lately and other than a few two pounders the other day we haven't caught much so the pic was truly our best catch of the day. Here's the Twitter link from Wilson: https://twitter.com/wilsonballglove/status/885597763437723648

  7. This thread inspired me to pitch a jig into a local residential pond tonight. I caught this 5-5 brute at 8:05 PM (35 minutes ago!) on a black/blue 3/8 Strike King Hack Attack jig w/ Rage Tail Menace trailer in green pumpkin.

  9. @12poundbass I've tried to make night time bassing video's more than a couple of times. Between the humidity at night totally soaking the lens and the light I need to make it, blinding me - they all end up looking more like a cross between The Blair Witch Project & something that was left on the cutting room floor of a bad Jacques Cousteau episode. So needless to say, it's been tough sledding. I'll keep at it and eventually I hope to get something decent & worth posting. Stay Tunes sports fans. A-Jay

  11. We as consumers would be better off if these manufacturers would work out the bugs and improve upon models and lay off the generations, gimmicks, redundant models etc.

  12. That's what I encountered as well. For over a year I just used fluoro leader fine (I use about 10-15 ft leader to add a little bit of stretch) because I rarely let the spook pause longer than 2 seconds. But a few days ago the fish would only hit my spook when I let it pause for about 5-10 seconds. When I resumed walking it, the spook would dive under the water.

  14. Your right. Wow. The user must have ticked the Lews reel off and it backlashed out of anger. I used to hate baitcasters too but ever since I got it in my head that baitcasters are made for heavy lines and heavy lures and started using Lews baitcasters, my backlashes have gone to almost zero and no major backlashes unless I cast outside and into a tree.

  15. I like a 3/0 for the 5" senko. It lets the tail wiggle much more. 4/0 is a must for the fat ika, 3/0 is simply too small.. Straight braid will work just fine.. you should try a floro leader for weightless plastics , not only is it less visible but it sinks helping the bait get down slightly faster which seems to be the ticket for me in the summer. I do just fine using straight braid and have for years. Plenty of 20+ fish days , but since I've started using a floro leader my confidence has heightened ever more, even if it is a placebo (;

  16. Every time I forget that I have FC leader on an outfit and use a pop-R or Chug Bug, and fish it fairly slowly, the leader sinks and screws up the presentation. If a fast retrieve, or walking the dog, I agree no problem. With mono, no problem with any retrieve. On my usual surface outfit, I simply use pure mono all the way. It serves also to slow me down on the hook set. Doesn't really slow my reaction, but the stretch helps slow the reaction at the lure.

  17. While we're dreaming here, I'd be up for seeing a voice controlled unit. The technologies are out there. My newest GoPro's can all be used hands free from a distance by simply say "GoPro take a picture" or "GoPro start / stop video". An effective option in the wind is their very small voice activated Wi-Fi remote worn on my shirt color. Once paired with the camera (can manage more than one simultaneously which is cool) it allows me to preform a number of necessary camera actions from a distance & hands free. I can see me being very happy to just say "Ultrex deploy / Recover" or "Ultrex go spot lock" or "jog left 10 ft" or even "Go find the Big Bass". A-Jay

  29. I'm a Fenwick fan!!! The thing with it is that I don't care for the HMX and they changed the SilverHawk which is exclusive to Cabela's so I can't comment on it. What I can tell you is the HMG line is really good for $99 but the handles and blanks are thinner than the old model HMG and not everyone cares for it. Turkey sandwich gave you a really good assessment, the discontinued Elite Tech Smallmouth rods were very good, I got a few of them and after fishing the spinning rod I actually gave my Grandson my old Loomis IMX rod as the Fenwick was superior in every aspect. The new Elite Tech bass line is very good when it comes to sensitivity and comfort but I don't like that they added weight to them to add power, but if you never used the smallmouth series the bass line is fine. I also agree with Turkey sandwich in that the Aetos line is really good, they are over your budget but if you keep your eyes open you may get lucky and find some discounted models on FFO (Fishermen's Factory Outlet). They have a ton of sensitivity and the actions, to me, are perfect along with the weight, I honestly believe if they had a Shimano or Daiwa logo on them they would retail well over $200 but that is just my take. If I had to get a rod below the HMG line I'd wait for Cabela's to have a sale on the Silver Hawk 2 rods and grab one, it looks as if the new version uses the HMG blank with Fuji Alconite guides and a Sea Guide reel seat, I'm not familiar with Sea Guide but I'm noticing other manufactures beginning to use their components so I wouldn't worry.

  30. Almost every manufacturer has something pretty good to offer in the $100 and up range now. I've handled the HMX and HMG lines and they felt ok - basically what I would expect at their price point. There are plenty of folks on here that really like them. The Elite Tech lines are very popular with a lot of guys here, especially the now discontinued smallmouth series. The Elite Tech is a good feeling $140 rod. If I were to start a collection with Fenwick, and on a budget, this is likely where I would start. Where Fenwick really shines is with the Aetos line. The blanks are excellent, the handles are quality cork (in the model I own, the new ones are EVA foam and cork, I believe) and feel comfortable (in my hands at least) and are easily my favorite sub $200 rod. They retail around $180 or so, so a bit above what you're budgeting, but they can be had for significantly less when Fenwick updates the series every year or so. I paid less than $100 for mine and absolutely love it. If you're into fly fishing, the Aetos series fly rods can also be found pretty inexpensive and fish better than a lot of $400+ rods.

Now to complete the box of 1/2oz squarebills and crankbaits....I think I might even use the same line...lol Picture below of the combo.

  38. Today I replaced this ~ The old stand by - which is only marginally effective at best With this ~ ABT Lure Trailer Jack Skate Needed a couple of 3/4" wrenches & about 90 seconds - tops. My boat goes into the garage about 1/2 way with the truck and then the last bit of fitment is done by A-Jay power. This is totally the way to go. Designed to make tight space maneuverability much easier and it definitely does. Could also help eliminating hook up frustration because if I wanted or needed to, now I can easily bring the boat to the truck. It's a Heavy Duty 11 inch Triangular Jack Skate System made of 6061 Grade Aluminum with a 525 lb weight capacity. Sports Heavy Duty Urethane Wheels w/ swivel casters, zinc coated bearings & a locking brake. Highly Recommended. A-Jay

  43. Thick vegetation isn't good unless there easy access for big bass to swim under or through tunnels in the weeds. There are good weeds and junk weeds. If you are a pond angler study aquatic plant types. Pond bass tend to be more shore oriented because the prey source is located there. Tom

  45. That's great about you and your daughter starting out a lifetime of sharing the love of fishing! It's about the only thing i can afford to do with my kids out of the house, other than an occasional movie and a restaurant now and then... We also jam out on my instruments. They don't know what they are doing technically, but they are pretty musical already... Keep on fishing man!

  46. Everyone tends to think being a professional angler is a great gig, but they forget that you have to promote certain baits of your sponsors, often on camera and at shows, and you end up like poor Lane, Surman and Christie. Same with the Livingston guys. I don't think I could do it - lol
