  1. Add a cup of vinegar to the wash. That should take care of the smell. I won't comment on the stupidity because of the glass house thing.

  2. Early father's day from the wife and kids. As a bonus, the guy at the tackle shop informed my wife there really is legitimate reasons to have multiple rods and reels! Win, win.

  3. If it's not a known public body of water, best to be asking permission. The whole "There's nobody and nothing here saying I'm not supposed to", is a weak excuse and a sign of a poor moral compass. How many with that mindset have no trespassing signs posted in their front and back yards? It's not marked so it's okay for someone to walk through it right? It's just a fish, it's not worth getting a ticket and/or getting arrested or your gear confiscated. Folks who decide to just fish until someone tells them not to are a big part of the reason why it's so hard to get permission to fish anymore. Property owners get tired of running people off, so when someone tries to do it right they have those bad memories and impressions of fishermen that makes it dang near impossible. I've lost permission to fish places because of others sneaking in and the owners getting fed up with dealing with it, so they just shut it off to everyone.

  4. Located in S.E. Mich, fishing western Lake Erie shore. It was windy with a front moving in just south of us this afternoon. Started out with a Super Fluke, working it over submerged grass. Caught a couple on that, with the first one going about 2.5lbs. Moved to another spot as nothing else bit after the two Fluke bass. Next spot was at the mouth of a creek. I worked a spot that was set back from the creek channel with grass and Lilly pads. The bass were chasing shad so I started with a yellow Terminator frog and hooked a nice 3.5 pounder on the second cast. Missed the next two bites as the wind was really playing havoc with my line. After a while they stopped hitting that Terminator so I switched up to a LiveTarget Field Mouse. I hooked one fish but he got off after wrapping me around some pad stems. Missed the next two on the mouse. I'm not real confident in the hooks on that bait. I usually don't miss bites with a frog. I switched to a Booyah Pad Crasher and proceeded to catch two more quality fish. I didn't get pictures of all of the fish caught but here's the ones that I got.

  6. I just started bass fishing a week ago. I caught my first bass on a River2Sea spinner bait. I missed 3 on a savage rat bait. This morning a big one, at least for me, crushed it! I cant figure out how to upload a picture so click here to see the fish

  10. Think of the Carolina rig as more of a search rig that covers the deeper water spectrum on ledges, etc. whereas a drop shot is more of a technique to use once a concentration of fish has been located, similar to a Texas rigged plastic that is thrown once fish are located via squarebill or spinnerbait. Hope that helps!

  12. Spent a week in gulfport Mississippi with my gf at her dads house. Most of the trout were caught on live shrimp and snagged a few on shrimp swimbaits. Caught the lady fish off an island in the gulf pulled so hard for its size. My gf learned how to use a cast net and caught 22 prawns. Got back to maryland and grilled all the fish and shrimp. Caught my first black drum and first redfish.

  15. Stanley Vibra-Wedge Designed to deliver maximum thump and vibration, the Stanley Vibra-Wedge Spinnerbait produces more water displacement than any other spinnerbait on the market. Featuring two of Stanley’s most innovative designs - Vibrashaft wire and Wedge blades - the Wedge blades are specially designed and taper in thickness, allowing them to emit the thump of a Colorado-blade, as well as, the flash of a standard willow blade. For all around setup I prefer double gold willow leaf & skirts of white, chartreuse, or any combination there of!

  16. Old Town Next. Paddles fast, sits still on an 8 lb anchor, and I'm no longer losing baits, stepping on bee nests, and getting prickers fishing from the banks. But sunscreen ... going through more of that.

  17. Once upon a time, my father gave me some great advice. He said "Son, If you're gonna be dumb, you've got to be tough." While what I did before that isn't very important right now, it has proved to be quite useful in several situations.

  18. I couldn't deal with that. I don't have a HOA where I live, but residents are still fought by the city on a lot of things like this. Last year I went through a huge ordeal when someone complained about my chickens and am really wondering what they'll do if they ever find out that the neatly landscaped little pond I have in my back yard serves double duty as a place to store live catfish bait!! My girlfriend thought she was getting Koi, she was a little surprised when I came home and threw in a bucket of bluegill.

  21. Have you ever swam in a lake? If you have you should know deeper water is colder than surface water during the summer. Every lake is a little different regarding water temperatures from surface to various depths depending on the size and depth of the lake, it's regional location, wind and day/night air temperatures. It's summer almost everywhere including PA. Lakes are different then rivers because of current that mixes the river water verses very little current in most lakes. During the summer the lakes surface water warms every day and cools somewhat every night. Early morning the surface water is about the same as the water 2' to 4' down on the main lake basin, warmer in shallow bays. The coldest water will be located at the thermocline depth that varies with each lake, somewhere around 15' to 30' on average and about 5 to 10 degrees colder than surface water temps. Tom

  25. I just got back from a trip where I spent 2 weeks fishing mostly jerkbaits using straight braid. When using jerkbaits where I add action to the lure, I want all my movements to transfer to the bait and not be absorbed by the stretch of the line. I use jerkbaits in open water where line abrasion is not a factor so there is no reason to complicate things with a leader. A common comment I see about braid is that guys feel they will tear the bait out of the fishes mouth without some stretch in the line. As someone who has used nothing but braid for many years and never with a leader, It has never been an issue with me. I also don't use bait casters with 50 pound test line and ski fish back to the boat. I keep steady pressure on and let the fish tire out some before landing them. If you are tearing out hooks, you need to back off your drag a bit and ease up.

  26. A gentleman approached me yesterday while I was tossing a Pompadour around in a local lake, and he informed me that the local Ace hardware store he works at now carries a full supply of Pompadours and Pompadour JRs (amongst their very limited selection of other tackle). Anyways, yeah, now I have a JR in the gill color.

  31. You may recall.....................................I used to post on here and write articles way back when. It has been a while B/R. I've been floating around, writing a couple of books, watching my kids grow up. I haven't written an article here in ages but I've been fishing a ton. When I got down to Fl. in 2006, I quickly realized I would be spending a lot of time finesse fishing because my local water was gin clear. That didn't discourage me because that is what I did on NY. Once I got used to how clear the water really was, I started catching a ton of fish. Some of my friends, who have fished this water their whole lives, didn't believe that I was catching 40, 50, 75 even 100 fish a day. They were so intimidated by the clear water they avoided it at all costs. Only when I got them out on the boat did they see that we really could catch that many fish, and some big ones at that. Finesse fishing is the name of the game, 6lb test is the heaviest I employ in the clear water, even when jig fishing. The water comes out of the springs at 72 degrees and doesn't get much past 75 degrees even when the air temp is over 100. Ned Rigs Drop shot rigs Enormous fish on light tackle Shakey head rigs Wacky rigs Neko rigs even small jig n pigs produce good fish. I fish here pretty much at least once a week In the cool weather I throw a hair jig that I tie to resemble a float n fly, on a 1/8oz jig and no float and I drag it on the bottom and just clean up with it. One without the hat.

  32. Bahahahah ! Once, I gotten a package from tacklewarehouse. I opened the box and looked at this Power team lure hog tonic attraction that I just ordered. I open the bottle and took a whiff. "Geez, It smells good" and took two "little" spray in the house. Lets say that wife wasn't really happy about it cuz it skunked the house for a while "but I thought it was like perfume ...it would go away in a few hours" I was really thrown into the doghouse....

  35. If I take someone out in my boat, I will do everything possible to give them a shot at unfished water. I am also happy to tell them what I'm doing and how I'm doing it. There are no secrets on the boat and I will often ask them what their going to do. If I see a likely spot, I will sometimes tell them to throw back in that hole, or on the shady side of those branches. I'm not out there to compete with anyone, I'm out to enjoy the situation, and hopefully they will enjoy it also. Its all about having fun!

  36. LeBron can't do it on his own but he d**n well tried....As far as legitimate contenders, it has always been 3-4 teams that were legit contenders. there are always the top teams and as second tier that may have an upset or two but rarely does true contender get upset early in the playoffs. I'm definitely a fan of the NBA and I want the best teams playing at the end and we without a doubt had that just too much firepower from GS.
