  8. I couldn't let a little cold and snow stop from searching for those giant January bass that have been caught. They were hitting like it was spring time. Didn't get a water temp but would say 38-40 maybe colder. Had to keep breaking ice chunks off the guides. This is north of where I have been fishing recently. Caught 6 bass 1 pickerel and lost a few . Big pickerel bit my swimbaits tail off after catching a couple bass on it. Another dose of snow expected tomorrow.

  14. You do realize that without sponsors, there are no fishing shows on TV, actually almost no TV at all, no BASS tournaments, no Bass Resource! and no NASCAR, There wouldn't be newspapers, magazines and very little internet. There sure are a lot of "whores" around aren't there.

  15. What's wrong with a guy trying to put food on his table and clothes on his back? It's not like he switched to "JoeBobs Low Stretch Fluoro" He just has another big name brand on his resume. The best thing about it is you, as a consumer, can buy any line you want no matter who peddles it.

  16. Lunch break today near a pond.Thought I'd give it a try.15 minutes later this was the result. She bit a 4 inch GY senko in watermelon.Absolutely incredible fight with 8 pound test.I helped the drag by stripping line off several times. The fish was nearly symmetrical at 21.5 inches long, and 21 inch girth.Extremely heavy bodied fish.Weight chart says between 8-9 pounds.Thank you Lord!

  17. My wife and I and our family plus daughter in laws mom went to Disney World this last few days and just got home yesterday. Really were blessed from above about the weather and just the trip in general. Everything went so very smooth. Just missed the ugly stuff (rain and wind) going down. Did have some around Atlanta and it took almost three hours to get through this area but were worried about snow coming home and it was clear sailing and knocked three hours off coming home. Did see many unfortunate ones in the ditch. Anyway....first I would like to apologize on not being able to find the name of the lake by Disney world a previous fisherman had talked about with the free john boats to use at this park. This park is awesome and so were the people running it. We went down to the dock and the lady said at the gate there's a LOT of fish in there and she wasn't wrong. Also told us that bread was good for the big gills and such. First we tried catching bass with the kids....the trip was all about them anyway....Well not a sniff from the bass but there were panfish everywhere....everywhere. Tried some stuff on the gills and no luck at all...so put a piece of cheeto on a hook and bingo....grandson had a fish. Caught a couple more but cheeto's were tuff to use on those panfish. Daughter in law brought banana bread....WOW. Stuff stayed on the hook for #@!$ but with a little spit it would last a couple seconds longer. Everyone got fish...even the daughter in laws mom caught her first fish ever...was cool. The really exciting part was when some "moby" bass tried to steal the gills off the hooks. This happened several times. Was awesome....thank you for info previous writer. P.S. Walt Disney world was tuff on this ol man.....legs and feet are tired.

  21. To me, in my experience, a paddle tail on a swim jig (skirted) is borderline power fishing and can be power fishing. Also, I've had better luck with the swim jig/paddle tail combo in slightly to moderately stained water and/or slight chop to breakers on the water and/or low light conditions. Paddle tails on jigheads (non skirted) is more finesse and I have better luck with them when the conditions are tougher like bluebird skies and/or no wind and flat water and/or super clear water.

  30. I used to buy Yamasenkos for $8/bag plus the cost and hassle of putting O rings on. Now I switched to Kalin Wac O Worms for $4.49/bag and stronger scent/taste, slightly heavier, great weightless sink rate - and tons of fish. The fish in my Avatar were pre-spawn smallmouth last Spring on a heavily pressured metro area river and caught as many or more than I typically did in years past on the Yamasenkos - which I still like but think I've found a better and more cost effective solution. Kalins are not only half the price of Yamasenkos but last twice as long too. No need for an O ring IMO.

  41. The punch hub version is a little longer when rigged as compared to the weight with the molded one piece hub. Additionally, since the punch hub version consists of a separate weight & shirt, rather than that being one piece, it's a little more "flexible". Can't sat for sure it either of these characteristics are actually "beneficial". Beneficial to me means able to be fished effectively & catches fish. Both do that. Another way to rig this is to use the set up pictured below ~ this one's presented on a horizontal plane like a swimjig rather than the more vertical structure type manner. And to keep the nose of this rig up you can omit the bullet weight and instead use a weighted swimbait hook. Both come through cover well. A-Jay

  45. Had a pretty good redemption today, my little brother has a tournament on the 19th so we went to look for some fish on Lake Anna. Found them in 35FOW and put a dozen in the boat, biggest was the low 4 I'm holding, she wouldn't sit still on the scales but I wanted to get her back since they can have a tough time coming from that deep water. I apologize for the scratched out background, that was for a little fun to send to his friends who will also be fishing that tournament, then I realized it was the only picture I had of the fish! I think this was my last outing before I head back to school, gonna be a long winter
