  4. You can add a swivel which will completely eliminate line twist. I also find that throwing flukes on casting gear instead of spinning negates a lot of the twist since the line comes off of the reel straight instead of in coils.

  5. Gambler Big EZ. Weightless and buzzed on top. Or a keel weighted hook. Copperfield, new shad, lane toad, florida five o are my favorite colors.

  9. A thorough cleaning, and proper lube will probably do more to bring back the smoothness than a bearing replacement.

  10. If you fish from a boat simply let some line out with nothing but a weight tied to the end, get on your trolling motor and go until you reach the end of the line, then reel back in, pinching the line with your fingers as you reel. If you fish from shore, find an open area, tie the end of the line to a tree branch, fence post, car, etc and reel in the line while pinching the line with your fingers and walk toward where you tied it off at. When you get to where you tied the line, cut it and the line will twist back to where it should be.

  11. Reload on the Flick Shakes. Managed to drop my Rcs 1000 orange shallow spool. Let me tell ya, these things are fragile. Went with a purple Rcs 1012 SV spool this round. Hopefully I can keep myself from dropping this one.

  12. There's no comparison with other burger joints (5 Guys, In and Out, etc.), but when it's 3 AM and you've put both Anheiser and Busch's kids through college that night, there's nothing better than big bag of Krystal's.

  15. X2. Even dry They're consistently smooth right from start up Lighten up on the drag and your reels will thank you. Personally I enjoy playing the fish a little. In the grand scheme bass don't fight all that hard and just horsing them in takes from the moment

  16. Well, it all depends on the rod you fight them on?? Catching a 10" big bluegill on a 2wt fly rod, is a huge fight. But so it catching a 30lb muskie on a broom stick. Both fish fight like hell.

  20. Had an average evening tonight on my local sandpit, totalling five fish. All but one came on the hudd 68 weedless. This bait is hands down the most productive for size and often numbers bait I have fished to date, can't praise it enough. Here is a pic of a 4 lber that was absolutely HANGRY for a hudd. Lol choked it down.

  23. Trust me....it's worth it to make the drive. The store itself isn't that big (although they're planning to expand soon). You get a good look at everything they make. The B-stocks are one heck of a bargain. I was super tempted last night by another Legend Xtreme. $185 and the only defect I could see was one of the guide wraps weren't quite as tight together before it got clear coated. From a distance of more than about 8" you couldn't tell. Granted they don't have the full warrantee like the a-stocks do, but for the price difference it's easy to live with. They're now offering tours as well so you can see how they're made. One of the best days to go though is on their customer appreciation day. They have the Linders come out along with Joe Bucher. They've got free food, chances to win prizes, and they have some pretty good closeout sales. As far as Mojo vs. Avid, go Avid or Avid X if you can swing it. The Mojo's are nice rods though and took a nice step up with the redesign.

  24. Congrats on your new Frog PB. I've also had a lot of success this summer on topwater. Lobina Rico and whopper plopper have been money! Changing hooks on the whopper plopper made a big difference.

  28. ROF! Rate Of Fall! How fast your jig falls through the water column will attract the bass' attention. Some days they prefer ROF fast while other days they want it slow. A heavier jig will fall through the water column faster You can also slow the ROF by adding more skirt material or bulkier trailer. How do you determine what ROF the bass want on a given day? Throw it & let the bass tell ya! Generally most anglers start at 3/8 oz & go up or down. Name brands: pick one

  30. Largemouth have a bad reputation because the equipment we use is designed to handle the baits we use, and the places we catch the fish, not the fish themselves.

  32. I have had lots of mixed experiences, and I think it all depends on conditions and how a certain fish behaves. I think that to judge a whole species by how they fight on one or two lakes is not a fair assessment. I will say however that the hardest fighting freshwater fish i have fought was a smallmouth buffalo. While fishing Lake of the Ozarks I had 5-6 Pound Smallmouth Buffalo (carp) that would fight me for 10 minutes with 30 lb braid and a baitcaster, but the bass had decided that water skiing would be more fun.

  34. Drum , they fight weird . They turn sideways an just stay like that . A firiend calls them sailing fish because they just kind of sail in one direction .

  35. Mine is a AVS69MLXF st Croix avid spinning rod... This rod has been the best, most sensitive rod I've ever owned. I actually bought it for walleye fishing and found it handled everything great... Love it!

  36. This. BY FAR the worst fighting fish I have caught are walleye. They literally don't do a d**n thing as you reel them in.

  43. Sorry I haven't posted on here in while, mostly because I've been to busy fishing.. Bass are still on a great topwater bite, namely frogs and the whopper plopper. The bass are on main lake points and weed beds in eight to twelve feet of water, but when the sun gets higher I move to main lake docks. I start out in the morning throwing a whopper plopper, and later on switch to skipping frogs underneath docks and flipping deep weed beds. Anyway, today I was skipping docks on main lake points with a popping pad crasher when I caught my pb frog fish that measured 22 inches and 5.34 pounds! I haven't caught one that big since the pre-spawn period. It was under this tiny 2 foot by six foot old dock on a point in seven feet of water, not exactly a great looking dock. Seeing big bass come up to the surface and smash my frog is an adrenaline rush, I don't know why I didn't throw topwater much last year.

  47. Welcome aboard! We all suffer slumps here and there. Part of the sport. Just keep plugging away and maybe try slowing down your presentation a little, too. Often that's a solution when bass aren't seemingly in the mood for fast stuff.

  48. So? Do not watch them if you do not like them. Rather easy solution.
