  1. Went out to wet a line this afternoon with a buddy. We caught 13 mostly small fish but 1 was a stud again! All fish except 1 were caught on an Irish senko. (Green pumpkin haha) She went 7.68 and after her lip piercing and photo op, swam away strong! Jeff

  8. Well my fishing has came to an end for this week and possibly until next january. I will deploying for 7 months to the middle east. But did manage only 1 today. She came in at 5.88lbs and had a bellllly on her! Crushed my 6xd with my new hooks i landed her with ease. Buddy had made about 20 casts to this point while i fished the other. We turned the boat i made 1 cast on the point ye was fishing and caught this girl. Here is a pic of my watercraft also. Dont need glass to catch bass! (But i still wish i didnt sell my bass boat when i moved overseas). Anyways as always love bassresource and cant wait to get back to slay the fish again. If i head out before then of course i will post a report.

  11. From the week I finally busted the 5lb mark for smallmouth. Crazy how one day I was in shorts and a cut off and the next I was in my bibs. Sucks that we couldn't put em in the livewell, we had over 25lbs for the day. Mainly 2/3lbers but when you're catching em hand over fist I'll take that any day.

  12. Here's a favorite pic of a 4.5 lb. smallie which is a decent fish, of course, but memorable because It took a bait I had doubts about: the Duo Realis Spin Bait 80. This is an unusual looking lure which I researched fairly extensively and then decided to spend $12.99 on (in 2013) and try it out using the presentation I had read about and watched on video: 7' ML rod (St. Croix Avid) and light fluoro (6 lb. Sunline Sniper on a Stradic 2500). This was my first fish on the Spin Bait! It's been a go-to bait for two years now.

  16. We put the boat in the water for the first time today it was 40 when we started so I wasn't sure...but a guy across the lake got 2 6 pound bass so I was hoping....we started out at the North end of the lake and got 1 fish on a lizard bait where the lake flows out..we threw cranks around that end and nothing so we headed to the south end....we got 1 nice bass a the mouth of a channel on a strike king red eye shad in about 4 feet of water...we then went around and fished the mouth of another channel and the 1st fish in this pic came at that spot...they were just off the mouth of the channel in about 3 feet...(surprised they were not deeper)...we then went to the little lake and fished the beaver dam...and got bass 3 in the pic....5 or 6 feet of water....we then fished some trees and got bass 2 in the pic 5 or 6 feet deep...we lost 3 big fish...one bass that was huge was at that boat and I can still see the bass jump and spit the boat and jump over the net and land about 4 inches from the net....the fish were thick looks like they have been feeding most of the winter..

  21. Thanks again for the prayers & good wishes. I'm home from the hospital after 8 days in & feeling pretty good. I have this week & next on an automatic feeding tube then evaluated by the surgeon. I am able to swallow & can eat small softer meals ok. Still waiting on the pathology report results to determine if I will need 2 more months of chemo. Either way I can see the light at the end of this tunnel. Glad to be alive but missing my prespawn smallies for the first time is rough.

  23. What's up guys ? Made it back to little Seneca myself early this morning . I launched off right at 6:00 and was able to get to the area I wanted to fish before the sun broke the horizon . Interested thing is with it being prespawn and water temp right at 50 degrees the fish were extremely active . Breaking the surface , chasing bait , etc. That's something I haven't seen to often. Anyway , if anyone is going this weekend bring spinnerbaits . I caught another handful of fish in the 2 to 3 pd range with this nice anchor.

  26. Hey everyone, Let's get a look at your favorite Smallmouth pictures! What was your set up when you caught it too? A lot of you have been fishing this winter, and a lot of you have had good fishing so far and spring weather. Me, and a lot of people up north, haven't been so lucky! It's been cold until recently and now it's been raining for 3 days! So let's see 'em guys! I'll start.... 2.5" Cabin creek tube, St Croix legend tournament bass 610mxf, Pfleuger President reel.

  27. Last night was absolutely beautiful out on the water in the kayak, couldn't get much better than 70 degree air temps and was absolutely stunned to find the water was 71 degrees! Managed to get 1 mac daddy crappie on the spinnerbait! Shortly after a chunky spot smashed same spinnerbait and then his skinny little cousin said he wanted it too! bait was a 3/8oz terminator t1 gold/silver blades with a little homemade skirt i tied on!

  28. For the last year I've been looking out my window at work at nothing but skyscrapers. Not that there's anything wrong with that as I appreciate architecture. But, let's face it, it gets kind of boring looking at Trump Tower everyday. Well, they moved my department from the SW corner of the building to the NE corner last Friday. The fog has been real thick and or clouds and rainy since the move. It finally cleared up today. This picture doesn't do it justice and I'll see if I can get some better ones. Come summertime the beaches will be full and the boats will be moving around. Already saw a guy trolling for salmon last Friday. In August they have the air and water show at North Ave Beach which is the first jetty you see. They practice on Thursday and Friday and I will have an eye level view of the jets as they go thru their maneuvers. It's going to be tough working under these conditions. This is the view of my building from the Lund. The tall building in the middle is the John Hancock building. I'm on floor 28. and another view from the Lund leaving Diversey Harbor

  29. Toledo Bend's fingerlings come from the Toledo Bend Lunker Program as well which is 10# plus bass. And yes TPWD is tracking natural reproduction vs stocking by fin clipping & genetics. Not only can they tell which female the examined bass came from but which male. They have records of a single male producing seven 13# plus females in three different bodies of water. You really need to spend as much time studying the research data on the subject as I have & you won't be so negative!

  32. You don't have to be paid by Shimano, Daiwa, Lews, etc. to be brand loyal. I'm not paid by Shimano but I am brand loyal to them when it comes to reels. I have never been let down by Shimano and have never found another reel that I like as much as a Shimano at respective price points.

  33. Went to Shawnee State Fishing Lake after work. Water temp. ranged from 50 to 53. About an hour in, I only had a few dinks on the Ned. Then I tried one of the jettys that had a little clearer and deeper water around it and it was like flipping a switch. I caught a bunch on a BPS XPS jerkbait on one pass and then turned around and caught a bunch on the Ned the next pass. I tried some other spots to let that one rest and caught a few, including the biggest of the evening, a 16.5 incher that hit while I let the jerkbait sit mid-cast while I adjusted my depthfinder. I then went back to my good spot and caught a bunch more. I probably ended up with 40-50 fish, but only 3 went over 15 inches.

  34. Nope, whatever I like and find on sale. No brand pays me to use there stuff, so why should I be loyal to them? That being said, my favorite brand is pfluegar, but I own several Abu Garcia's and Diawas.

  38. Why would you not want your kids to see your guns? Proper gun safety and education is key when having guns in the house with children. Take a watermelon or cantaloupe out and shoot it with a shotgun and show them how dangerous guns are and explain to them that they are to NEVER touch them without you being present. My son is now 10 and has been around guns his entire life (his go is an LEO) and he will never touch one until I tell him it's time to shoot.

  39. Really enjoying this reel so far! My only gripe is the brakes are taking a while to get use to. Two brakes on, and set cast control by lure weight has been the best way to this point. Usually I can have a little looser Cast control. 1/8 dropshot has been working fine for a few hours of testing. Gonna try lighter soon. Biggest fish has only been a 2.5, no big fish test yet.

  43. Had an awesome day before work, got out around 8, grabbed 2 immediately on blade and chatterbait that went around 3.5 and my buddy's was 5lbs...went 2 hours without a bite, then grabbed a 2lbr, then another 5lbr, and topped it off with this giant...I am guessing around 7lbs. Unfortunately no scale, but I'll let you all be the judge. About 22 lbs for 5 fish

  45. I'm just surprised someone caught a fish out of that lake. It's rated excellent or good every year for largemouth. I've fished it a few times and it's been horrible every time. I fished it one morning last year for 3 hours and caught maybe 6 fish, none bigger than 2 pounds, and I was working hard for them.

  46. Put yourself in the frog business, do you want 1or 2 colors to offer bass anglers who are willing to purchase 6 colors? If bass are feeding on shad would you use a black or white frog? If the predominate frog where you fish is brown or green would you fish a white or black frog? Answer those questions and you have your answer. Tom
