  3. I am really not a fan of BPS. They are a quantity over quality retailer. They kinda scratch the backs of the HUGE lure companies (Strike King, Zoom, ect) , which isn't a bad thing. They don't sell a ton of those brands that are really good at one or two things. TW is where it's at.

  5. Well said. Why a bass fishing superstore is being compared to a general merchandise store is already perplexing.

  9. Make sure to download the App for your smartphone so you can run it from your phone, or get the remote wristwatch like I use. They are very easy to use, if you want to hear much of what you're saying you'll want an external mic, they don't seem to pick up sound real well but the less you hear me cussing the better.

  20. I would like to thank Dwight for being so patient through the process. The missed deadlines on the blank shipment, the reel seat not fitting and the pure laziness of me when I didn't feel like building. I don't like to build when I'm not feeling the Mojo cause what I end up putting out is crap. I went in to a funk in 2012 and didn't put out much between then and this past spring. I think it took getting a new piece of equipment to work with to get me back in the swing. I think I'm back!!

  22. Well guys anyone considering a custom built rod should talk to Scott. I asked him to use his own desecration on the reel handle design. My only input was that I like burled cork so that handle looked different than a plain cork factory build. Boy did he ever come up with a one of a kind handle design. The blank I chose because I had a St Croix legend elite previously & like the heavy power blank for fishing in Florida with straight baid in the vegetation. I new what guides I wanted but Scott fine tuned my selection to best serve the straight braid in dirty water. His guide placement for sprial wrapping was very well thought out. The fit & finish is flawless. The rod balances perfect right under the reel foot. The guide wraps blend perfectly with the reel & blank. I'm a happy man. Thanks Scott.

  23. Nice work again, Scott. It is inspiring. And at least that Dwight dude has reels with the handle on the correct side.

  24. In this day and age when you can order anything you want online, tax free with free shipping, I see no reason to worry about whether a store has what you want. If I have to rely on Walmart for fishing tackle, I might as well find a new hobby.

  27. If your using the Lake Fork Stinger hook (which is awesome), you can really swing. Once that frog is gone, WHAM. If you don't think that's the right way of setting the hook, watch the Tacticallbassin' frog videos. They are the two of the best frog fishermen I've seen in a while, look how they set the hook. I don't know about you, but I'm gonna follow their advice.

  28. Huumph==spot burner Its actually forbidden on some sites I gave up a good spot to a fellow angler who eventually kept going there regularly with out me,but with others.Thru a series of other trips and events over the years we became bitter enemies . After fishing for over 68 yrs and dealing with all sorts of people,my feelings about sharing a real honey hole is"don`t do it"

  30. Get some of the tiny 3/16oz and 1/4oz blades (Johnson Thinfisher I think) they should work if you have shallow water (I'm assuming most of what you fish isn't too deep). Those are what I use to fish ponds when it is COLD. Swap the hooks.

  31. Ci4+ hard to beat, I have the FG Sustain and the Ci4+ both, along with a few Stradic FJ's,, the FJ's are very sweet and hard to beat for the money... I had a few Ci4's and hated em not near as smooth as the FJ's or FI stradic's. the new Ci4+ changed that all, and the rapid fire drag, Xship and on and on I think the new Stradic Ci4+ is a steel and every bit as sweet a reel as the Sustain!! If you want more real than the Ci4+,,, I think you have to buy a Stella or you're just spending more money and getting nothing more for it,,,,JMO

  32. I buy tons of baits on the bay but I only buy known brands. With those super cheap lures, you generally get what you pay for, IMO.

  33. When you buy from China, you get what you get. The quality is often uneven and though they are good at copying the external shape of a lure, they often fall down when it comes to the critical internals. I've seen decent crankbaits ffom there and I've seen others that were completely worthless. Try to find some that are molded in Japan - they are a better bet. But don't expect a knockoff of any popular crankbait to be just like the original. They almost never are.

  39. You can shim the pawl with shim stock by taking the cap off and placing a small shim in it them replacing the cap. I have had to do this before in a pinch also used thin plastic to cut a shim out of. This works until you can replace the pawl. It just adds more pressure so the pale rides on the gear again. I know guys that never replace the parts they just shim and go.
