  1. Had a pretty spectacular evening today. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Best 5 were 3.69lbs, 3.06lbs, 3.02lbs, 2.95lbs, and 2.33lbs. Three were on a senko with a wacky jighead, and two were on a 3/8oz Cavitron. An absolute blast! Public water by the way guys, I'm not on some magic farm pond

  5. A fish that bites my lure then brings it back to the boat: that's a 'good' fish. A fish that doesn't bite my lure, or only brings it halfway back to the boat: that's a 'bad' fish. Roger

  7. Fishing from a boat is better because: 1. I love getting up before the crack of dawn, towing a boat that I hooked up the night before, waiting in line to launch, getting out to my favorite fishing location and sharing it with two boaters that apparently spent the night there. 2. Maintaining an outboard rocks! 3. Depreciatation!!! 4. Keeping electronics in good working order. 5. Buying gas. 6. Taking care to protect from ethanol. 7. Competing for small fish in a big lake. I'll use my kayak anywhere I can to avoid competition, make travel and loading/unloading easier, sneak up on bigger, wary fish and more of them and keep costs low enough to ease my conscience.

  8. Did a little night fishing Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Minus the nearly 3 dozen channel cats I caught on my bladed jigs and spinnerbaits, I caught 6 bass. 5 of them were less than a pound, one of them was my biggest of the year so far I hate night fishing during a full moon, but the plus side to the normally slow fishing is that I usually get a shot at a big one during a full moon. Slammed a black and blue War Eagle right as it was coming over a log and gave me all she had at 2:30 in the morning, 5lb 9oz. Right when I caught her. Our morning photo shoot at the ramp before telling her goodbye.

  9. I don't get it. Do you not like kayak fishing or do you? I fish from a kayak and it's 1000 times better than being stuck on the shore. I'd rather have a nice bass boat but I just started fishing last year so that's a ways down the road. But for now kayak fishing is awesome for me I would have never caught a lot of the fish I have this year without it. Anyways I don't know if you were joking or what but I love fishing from a kayak unless it's ridiculously windy then I just go home.

  10. Accuracy is way more important... I'd slowly work your distance up. Its better to be pinpoint accurate and only pitch 20 feet than just slinging the bait 50 feet away and hoping it lands where you want it.

  13. I fish from my 10 ft 33 pound old town pack canoe. I used a yak before i got this canoe and i loved to fish from them. This canoe same thing. small water , easy in easy out, i can carry and load it by myself in 5 minutes, MOST OF THE TIME I AM ALONE ON THE WATER. I enjoy fishing small water and getting to many places that no one else fishes. I outfitted mine with some extras., fish finder (very small 12 v battery), stab in anchor , comfortable seat , working deck , 4 rod holders. the last pic has the trolling motor mounted on it , which i rarely use except when i am on one of the bigger bodies of water. battery goes in front for ballast.

  17. Couple three pounders from my latest outing. River rose about 3' over night but since it's a tailwater, the reservoir kept the muddy water from making its way into the river. Made for a killer spinnerbait bite, tons of fun!

  19. Just got back from another awesome trip with the wife and another couple. We absolutely love this area and the fishing is NEVER disappointing. We got to fish 2 days, 1 on a 31' Bertram looking for billfish out of Cabo San Lucas and 1 on a 28' panga of of San Jose del Cabo. Heading out of the marina- one of the most famous places 'The Arch" The first day on the way out to the fishing grounds, I spotted a striped marlin jumping clean out of the water 3 times. I yelled at the captain and mate who were up in the tower and we turned around and went after it. Upon getting to the area, we tossed out a live bait rigged caballito, and coaxed it into biting. The fight was on, and my buddy Jimmy was quite capable of landing this nice size stripe. After the fight and release, we headed out to the fishing grounds which I would guess were about 18-20 miles offshore- much farther than I had ever fishing in Cabo before. We were quickly joined by not a few but hundreds of porpoise. I think it was a mix of bottlenose and spinners, as we saw quite a few jumping and spinning while in the air. Typically, you would assume this is a bad thing in offshore fishing. But according to the mate, this is what they were looking for. Big tuna as well as marlin and sailfish patiently wait under the schools of porpoise getting the free meals that are injured or dropped by these very smart animals. Sure enough it wasn't long before we raised a sailfish in the spread only to have it swim off without taking and bait or lure. Next couple strikes were tuna, but not the size we were looking for. These were more like footballs, which in turn seemed like perfect big marlin bait if we were to raise one. Sure enough, one got rigged and dropped into the tuna tube just in case!!! We managed to land 3 of these while also loosing 3- I think because the gear we were using was much too powerful for these small tuna. We needed some more play in the rod and line setup- but being as we were not going after 5lbers, we were not complaining. The next bit of excitement came as another sailfish raised into the spread and almost instantly bit a lure! Unfortunately the fight only lasted 20 seconds or so as on the first jump, the sailfish was successful in throwing the lure as if to say- "Right back at ya." I was pretty bummed as this was the 3rd pacific sailfish I have had on the line while fishing out of Cabo and have still yet to land one there. But never fear, Cabo was not about to disappoint as the next bite only a few minuets later was another stripe that we raised in the spread and pitched a live rigged caballito to. It immediately started to show its displeasure of having our circle hook in the corner of its mouth with a stunning aerial display. Having yet to land a marlin on stand-up gear, I quickly asked for the belt and went to work. This would prove to be my 8th marlin landed, yet my first attempt with standup gear, and certainly not my last. It came to the boat in less than 10 mins. for a quick photo opp and right back in for someone else to catch at a later date! No more action the rest of the first day- but really who could be disappointed with that kind of day???? We trolled around for another hour and a half with no bites and no action. It was another great day with a great captain and mate. I believe this was my 6th day aboard this boat with the same crew. Neither Jimmy nor myself were ready to call it quits, but our time was done and Capt. Pimi hollered at mate Damien and told him time to pull the spread. Damien grabbed the far left line, I grabbed the short left and Pimi grabbed the middle back line. Just as we had finished getting those 3 lines in(we had a total of 4 lines plus a teaser out, and always a pitch rod ready) we hear a commotion going on. Right at the back of the teaser, the only line that was floating as the boat had slowed to allow for us to reel in the lines easier, a curious Pacific Blue Marlin came cruising by to see what was going on. Quickly Damien pitched a caballito to it and immediately it was on. While peeling line, we quickly got the other lines in as well as the teaser. After a short, tournament like battle with Pimi backing down hard and without a doubt the best aerial show I have EVER witnessed, we were able to touch the leader after only a 4+ min battle and I had now crossed off another bucket list fish to add to my resume. Now the only marlin left for the complete marlin bucket is the elusive black. Waiting on the other memory cards to get the videos uploaded as we didn't get pictures of this one. Stay tuned for that! 20. An elderly Florida lady did her shopping and, upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle. She dropped her shopping bags ...and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her lungs, “I have a gun, and I know how to use it! Get out of the car!”. The four men didn't wait for a second threat. They got out and ran like mad. The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and got into the driver’s seat. She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition. She tried and tried, and then she realized why. It was for the same reason she had wondered why there was a football, a Frisbee and two 12-packs of beer in the front seat. A few minutes later, she found her own car parked four or five spaces farther down. She loaded her bags into the car and drove to the police station to report her mistake. The sergeant to whom she told the story couldn't stop laughing. He pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale men were reporting a car jacking by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white hair, and carrying a large handgun. No charges were filed. The moral of the story? If you’re going to have a senior moment… make it memorable.

  26. If you like fishing shallow, stained water you have to have some bladed jigs, jigs, and buzzbaits. I love suspending jerkbaits in the spring and fall so I'd have to agree with that suggestion too.

  27. Frogs are one bait that I really don't believe that bigger baits equal bigger fish. I've never seen a fish even go after an adult bull frog. In fact, if there's big bull frogs in an area there never seems to be any fish in the area with them. I saw a picture on FB a little while back of a guy whose son had completely ripped apart a brand new weedless 68 Hudd. I hurt a little bit for that guy. In both cases just be thankful the little guys didn't get a hold of a hook in the process.

  28. I haven't had the best year but in the last week I've caught 4 4lbers which for MA is pretty good. Last Sunday I caught 6 fish in 2 hrs and that has been my best day of the year and all of them were over 2lbs so I had a great day. Caught all of them on a bladed jig from bluebasser so thanks man you've made my year so far.

  29. Y'know, I would go into a long winded and link-heavy post to all the BS involved in this pathetic attempted character assassination but this link sums it up more perfectly than I could. It has it all, for real. Backstory, pertinent links, sources and even legal correspondence straight up proving this is a total sham start to finish. http://www.barstoolsports.com/boston/the-conclusive-and-definitive-recap-to-the-deflategate-conspiracy-factsonly/ Honestly Kensil and Goodell are in for a serious shellacking in big boy court. I'm sure that won't matter to Jets fans though haha... Stay classy Jersey. Stay classy.

  30. I do 95% of my fishing from a kayak, and as long as its not unbearably windy, its soo more peaceful than in a boat. Windy days I'll be cursing kayak fishing, but nothing compares to being so close to the water and the fish. But without scupper plugs on a wavy day, you can add #8. 8. You prefer fishing with a wet, aching bottom.

  31. Like the other dude said, fishing is my break. When I'm feeling sad, mad, depressed, you name it, I go fishing. It's got some therapeutical qualities for me, I guess. It's good to get alone and think or pray. Of course, I like fishing for catching fish, but it also has that calming effect on me

  32. Contrary to popular belief ~ It is completely possible to cast to, detect a strike, play & land bass with a rod that may not necessarily be "The Best". I think I'm working with sticks in the "not Too Bad category" and seem to do OK. Just get one you like, you'll be good. A-Jay

  36. Thanks for the polite rebuttal.I wasn't promoting FC so much as defending it against the OP's comment that it's out due to handling problems. If you spool it right and I think this is a problem for some people it's no more trouble than mono. I get good castability and better sensitivity and durability than mono. I don't fish braid as a rule and don't feel I am missing out on anything with finesse techniques. That said I might setup one rod with each and experiment. Line is so subjective that it's tough to make blanket statements. I would encourage the OP to try different types for himself and decide which he prefers.

  45. Okay, so if you can't feel bites on a $100 rod, a top end rod won't be of much more help. My rods range all the way from cheap house brands and 10 year old models to much newer and much pricier ones. I don't have trouble catching fish on any of them- with mono, copoly, fluoro, or braid. Sure some are more sensitive, more balanced, more pleasurable (is that grammatically correct?) to fish with; but feeling bites is never a problem. In any case, a spool of Tatsu is much cheaper than even the cheapest rod that anyone can suggest. Sometimes it's not the arrow.

  46. If the cost of braid bothers you, then the most sensitive rod money can buy will give you heart failure.
