  2. My grandfather was throwing out some old PVC hose and a big pipe.....And that's when It hit me. Real brush is easier to sink but this stuff is a lot nicer to the hooks with fewer hangups. It's going into a private lake don't worry. Who else does this?

  3. There is always a story behind the picture & original story. Based on DTack's info the fish didn't make it. If the anglers were not carrying a certified scale there was additional stress getting it to a certified scale. Lake records, state records, line class records & world records most often mean a dead fish. It's just fishing. The guy who contributed to the dead fish has probably practiced catch & release all his life. One or two dead fish is part of the game. Congrats on the new record.

  5. It's been fixed. Also having never used the GLX I can't comment on the similarities and differences, but I would just go for it. You only live once. $100 spread out over the next 15-20 years is nothing. Totally worth it to not second guess yourself

  8. When I was younger My grandmother had a car where the speedometer was digital. I used to sneak in there and change it to metric. It was hillarious when everyone would be honking at her and she would say "people need to slow down I am doing the speed limmit."

  9. Interesting ~ I think I'd like the Metric system, especially for weighing my bass. Because then my PB goes to 5187.9 grams That just seems much more impressive. A-Jay

  12. Showering with water....notice the telephoto lens focal plane, the wake boarder isn't that close. We all must share the water, it's easy to say now, 20 years ago would have run them down and had a heated discussion. Tom

  13. Finally got the yak slimed... Was a cruddy overcast day, but managed one. Wasn't a giant, but the first in the yak. Caught him under some low lying branches on a hollow body frog.

  17. The market buoy pattern is often stronger than following the bent rod pattern. Anyway, I never understood why other boaters would try to get close to fisherman - they have lines that tear up prop seals and hooks that tear up skiers in the water around. Seems pretty stupid to me.

  18. It really would not have bothered me. Only thing that actually bothers me on the water now are jackasses that have paid for tourney jerseys with two powerpoles and all the rest of the tourney gear that try to fish where I am fishing because they have $25 per person on the line in their tx.

  20. Google 'hair rig' and bait the hook with corn. I will assume you are fishing for common carp, if you are fishing for grass carp I would assume you would use different techniques, as grass carp eat aquatic vegetation.

  24. When the going gets tough, the real fishing is just beginning. Fair weather fishing is nice and all, but if I turned around and went home every time I heard "the fish aren't biting today" I would've missed some of my greatest days on the water. Some of the most fulfilling days I've had have been with sub freezing air temperatures, or water temps in the 90's. When you can catch fish in those conditions the rewards are much more satisfying. I have friends who come out fishing only when the conditions are ideal, but when it's too cold/hot they are in the house with the heat/ac. I have to bite my tongue sometimes because I don't want to be that guy saying "You should've been here last week, I was slaying 'em."

  27. Congratulations on a monster catch! That must have been a heck of a fight! I bet he lost his breath when he saw that giant near the surface for the first time! I knees probably would've given out. I hope someday soon to experience the thrill of catching a double-digit bass!

  28. Those spines are also serrated like a steak knife. So not only will they cut you bad, but the barbs make it very difficult (and painful) to have to pull one back out, ask me how I know

  29. I predict a bunch of companies will be showing the same products, but in different colors or sizes so they can call them "new". I predict many new products will debut under much hoopla, but nobody will be able to buy them until next year. I predict ICAST will be held in Orlando....again.....and again..... and again....until at least 2020. Maybe next year they'll check for conflicting big conventions first before announcing dates. Just a thought. I predict Bobby and crew will be thrown out of their hotel for being too rowdy. I predict we won't be doing 130 ICAST videos again.....ever.

  30. Bass season finally opened up on Saturday and it has been good so far. We've got smallies as shallow as a foot and as deep as 15. A 4" prodigy tube and a 5" impact stick has done most of the damage so far. Lots more to come.

  34. I have a '98 481VS with a 150 Johnson FastStrike. Basically the same boat except mine is a single console and basically the same motor as well. I have owned mine for just about 13 years now and I am the second owner. Very solid boat and no real complaints with it. Perfect size for big water or small. I have been out on Erie in 6 footers and it is small enough to get in between docks or up smaller creeks for tight small water fishing. Pretty snappy out of the hole with a 4 blade prop. Ranger customer service/parts department is the best.

  43. I like your idea my grandpa has a good friend who owns a pond. In this pond last week I pulled out a 5 1/2 pound bass on a frog. I discussed this problem with the pond owner he said exactly what you said. Next time I fish there I am going to take some big large mouth bass and put them in our partly owned pond.

  44. Hey there everyone, I havent really gone fishing since I was a kid about 13 years ago and have been thinking lately about getting into it. I've done some research and for a beginner it looks like a spinner rod / reel is the best choice for me? I'll be going up to a little lake with bass. Looking to spend around $100 - $120 on a rod / reel combo. Ive searched around a bit on this forum and it looks like a lot of people reccomend the Pfleuger presidential http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005OU1DGG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3H5G187FPGD5U&coliid=I3ICCYZ1Z6NPUV&psc=1 So is that a good choice, and I have no idea what model specifically of the presidential would be the best fit for me 6930x, 6935x, etc? As for rod Ive searched around and from what I've read it's generally a good idea to place the bigger investment in the rod.. What is a good rod in that price range that might pair well? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks! Edit: Im looking to just have one decent rod / reel combo for now so something that can work in a lot of situations.

  46. Easiest suggestion to relay through a forum is to simply spend some time fishing the various causeways on the lake. Always seems to be some bass around them. Other good areas are coves with flooded timber, or the one with the ramp where they release all the tourney bass -T9
