  2. All my reels are lower end Shimanos (Citicas, Curados, Cardiffs). But my rod brands and prices are all over the place! Loomis NRX, a custom, Dobyns, Kistler, Daiwa, All Star, down to a BPS house brand. I have also owned Powells, Shimanos, Abu Garcias, Cabelas house brands and Berkleys in the past, and I love them all. Anyone else in a similar boat?

  4. Fishing one of my favorite big bass lakes last Monday, just me and the dog. Took awhile but finally figured out the jig bite and knew it was just a matter of time before a good fish bit. You can see my rod thump down when she inhaled it at the base of a swim ladder and swam through the steps of said ladder. She almost got through it far enough that I could get her back out. Thankfully, I think it had plastic steps or I probably would have never seen her. Not a monster but a hard earned, solid fish and a very scrappy fighter! Fell for a homemade finesse brush jig in a color I call grasshopper.

  6. New boat is on it's way! I went with a Commander C140. If I like as much as I think I will, I might forego the ATAK until next year, and get a C120 little brother for it.

  7. Fishing the lake right by my house this morning with a buddy from work who has been doing well out there. I hate the lake, 5 minutes from the house and I fish it 2 or 3 times a year. Did surprisingly well this morning, mainly on topwater and baby brush hog. Got to one little cut he said a local told him holds big fish. I'd barely gotten "Weird, I never catch anything here", out of my mouth when my bladed jig went weightless. Typical big fish bite on a bladed jig, turned into a very not typical fish for that lake. 4 pounds on the nose and my PB for the lake.

  8. This is my new Ned Bullet Mold. Just in the experimental phase. I have some baits out being field tested and it looks good so far. The baits are 2.75" in length and a max. diameter of .450", 1/0 hook works well. Colors 1; PB&J 2; Baby Bass w/Silver, Gold Flake, White w/Silver Flake, Pearl Highlites 3; Brown Pumpkin w/Green Flake, Orange w/Red, Copper Flake 4; Baby Smallmouth w/Black, Gold, Copper Flake, White w/Silver Flake, Pearl Highlites 5; Green Brown Pumpkin w/Black, Purple, Copper Flake 6; Green Pumpkin w/Purple, Copper Flake 7; Junebug, w/Blue Flake 8; Kyles Purple Flash( Smoke w/Purple, Disco Purple Flake) Bait is named after our very own Kyle (Senko Lover) and is more translucent than the picture shows. I will take a pic in natural light tommorrow and add it, the picture is under LED Lighting. Brian.

  9. A sample of my son's catch... These were all caught on jigs. For some reason they weren't biting anything else. Tried Spinner Baits and cranks but no catchy. I did catch several dinks, but the larger fish were all 2lbs plus, and that's one reason I stayed with the Jig the whole time also. I was catching size over quantity. Even the Pike couldn't resist a Siebert's Jig. This was my PB Pike Don't ask me how he got this whole jig in its mouth... Another... This guy had a little problem... Couldn't remove it, so I snipped it off @$$ close @$$ possible. He also had half an ol' rusty hook stuck in his yap so I removed that to. Surprisingly it was a healty looking fish. Caught this guy twice, on two different days, at the same spot. An aggressive striker both times. Day 1 Day 2 And here is the biggest of the lot... A 3lb football. Caught him under an old floating dock. he nearly ripped the rod out of my hands.

  10. If you use a short rod, it would make the task easier. The distance of your pitch would be reduced, however. Filpping could be done with any length rod. Because of shoulder problems, I'm unable to pitch without enduring severe discomfort. To compensate, I use a roll cast. With practice I've been able to accomplish a similar, low trajectory and soft entry into the water using it rather than attempting to pitch.

  13. after going to iCast last year i will say this , the best in show or best of icast awards do not mean anything, period. My predictions? Live target will show horrible defective products that don't work by an army of guys in red polo shirts The guys at the livingston booth will still be dicks but have the best free sandwiches at lunch *** will have the best draft beer in the afternoon the megabass booth will still be the most amazing place ever to test rods. bill dance will be drunk in a hotel Minn Kota will have the most amazing soft carpet in their megabooth, but still have the noisiest turning crappy ilink motors DUO realis have some nice stuff

  14. As far as I'm concerned, if you can hit your intended target, it doesn't matter whether you're pitching, flipping or tossing, or whether you're sitting or standing. Roger

  15. tackle you use most: Keitech Swing Impact on spinning rod. 15lb braid with a 8-10lb Fluoro leader. Tell us how you fish it or use and where!: Great bank beating bait. I can cover a ton of water with it. Also can cover various depths based on the VMC half moon jig I put on. I have caught fish as deep as in 10 FOW using this setup. Explain why we should buy it! It flat out gives you the best of both worlds. A bait that covers a lot of water. That is finesse enough to attract numbers. Also catches big fish. And what you have caught with it!! LMB, SMB, Rock Bass, Pike, Pickeril, Crappie, Yellow Perch, Carp (that was fun and unexpected) What I didn't catch made me cry ... I was in Texas trying to get my 1st Gar using the keitech. It would follow and then go away. Changed colors but it wouldn't budge. I was hoping for that 1st Gar. Welcome to bass fishing! Trust me you would regret it. Be ready to work hard for all the toys you want.

  18. I totally read that wrong. I read it like you got 4 for the price of 10. I'm assuming you meant 4 for $10, like $2.50 a piece.

  21. Roll or sidearm casting is ideal, but I usually don't honestly have a problem bombing a spinnerbait with an overhand cast either.

  23. I went out this past Sunday 7th, 2.5 weeks after having my tricep re-attached to my elbow. My wife said I'm crazy but I felt ok. It was some of the most fun I've had fishing recently to be honest. A little uncomfortable but it was just nice to get out. We caught the bejeeses outta them too.....one armed.

  24. Caught my first SM of the year today! Probably a pound and a half. It was my first ever sight fish and it was the first fish I caught on a jig I tied myself. 3/8 oz. arkie in a brown craw w/ a SK Baby rage crawl in Alabama Craw on the back. Pretty special fish even if it wasn't very big.

  26. A little bit of brake will put some tension on the line and I have had some luck in preventing helicoptering that way. Maybe you won't be able to cast so far, but, which is most important to you?

  28. I had a channel cat get me. I was using needle nose pliers to remove my hook and that sucker flipped/flopped and got my middle finger of the hand that was holding the pliers. Instant pain, bad pain, and bleeding like a stuck pig. The pain went on for 20 minutes and I had to wrap a towel around my finger to stop the bleeding. The next day I read on the net that a catfish fin will cause pain and induce bleeding. Later telling an old timer about it he told me next time to rub the belly of the cat on the wound. He said it once worked for him. About a month later I caught another cat and I cut the line. My mama didn't raise a fool

  29. The way I fish a spinnerbaits is I usually do a roll cast (that usually prevents helicoptering) past my target. It also allows the spinnerbaits to enter the water a lot quieter.

  30. If poked, rub the slime off the fish on to the wound...it will help take stinging sensation away. An old timer told me this once, I thought he was pulling my leg and I am thankful I remembered what he said years down the road!...It works with channel cats anyway, can't speak for any others

  32. This one has all the qualities I like in a pic, big fish in an awesome environment. This one is my PB pic, got a good shot on my own that day somehow. I still think this may be the best big fish pic I've ever seen though...

  33. If the rod isn't as moderate as most cranking sticks you could probably get away with using it for Carolina rigs, deep football jigs, heavy spinnerbaits, 10xds, swimbaits and a rigs

  36. I put my Maxxum on 100% and plow through the thickest junk out there. I usually stop and cast all around the boat and then hit the Maxxum and move about 2 casts away and repeat. Had a Motorguide and tried the Ninja (not very good), then the Hydrilla Hacker (believe it or not even worse), and exchanged the T.M. for a Maxxum. The Weedless Wedge prop is by far the best I have used. Bought an Endura transom mount for my son for use on our jonboat. Works pretty good also and works better if you mount it up front. Just my 2 cents.
