  1. My friend and I went out yesterday morning to Rodman Reservoir and put only four bass in the boat, plus a catfish, a mudfish, and a pickerel. The largest bass weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces. See pix below . . .

  6. Okay, not to get to far off topic here. But....at 20 I bought my first house and just fished with what I had. I would worry more about saving some money and getting out on your own.

  9. This smallie went 7lb-6oz and measured 22.5" by 17" She choked the perch rapala taildancer shown in the 2nd picture. There is a Hudd 68 special include for comparison. Yes fish will attack fish that are too big to consume & die shortly afterwards. But it is not a common occurrence. The biggest bait I use for smallies are LC pointer 128.

  11. I think a hudd 68 weedless is a poor choice for smallies. They have to choke down that bait pretty far before the hidden hook comes into play. Don't get me wrong smallies will hit big baits & get hooked up but they have difficulty eating a big bait that size.

  12. Give me a break, the dude played his guts out and took a team to the finals that has no business being there. That team is severely overmatched but they made it a close game and could have won. And you are right, he will never be Kobe or MJ, he will be Lebron and better than those two. To me Kobe isn't even close to MJ or Lebron but that is for another thread so I won't derail my own post anymore lol All of the great players in the last 20 years, for the most part are crybabies....MJ and Kobe being two of the worst offenders. If all the games are like this, it will be a good series. Not having Kyrie at 100% is going to really hurt them and their chances to win but I still think they can do it.

  19. Big bait fishing bug has bitten. Shimano Calcutta 201B on a 7'8" IRod Jr. swimbait rod. And of course the MS Slammer 7" Perch. Haven't seen any guys on my lake throwing big baits. Hopefully can show that smallies like big baits too!

  30. My current favorite rod is the white Carbonlite. They pair great with my Chronarch 50e reels, and on the spinning side, my Stradics. A personal preference. I'm always open to a different rod, so often put my hands on them when in-store. But since money doesn't grow on trees, I am satisfied with the CL rods... 2 cents.

  39. It happens and if it went right into the fish's eye, would careful hook removing prevent any problems? I am guessing it wouldn't. As far as keeping fish goes, i have caught plenty of fish with one eye over the years so to release it at least gives it a chance to survive.

  40. I'd rather pay full price! Let's put an end to this silly "sale" nonsense! Down with discounts! Let us march to the capital. I kid! If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Seems simple to me?

  41. Yes and yes with a but. If you have the funds, while upgrading the motor, upgrade to a 24 volt and buy you another battery just like the one you have. This would be the ideal time to do it, while the one battery is still new and both batteries should be the same type and age when run in series. If you use the TM a lot, this is something you are gonna end up having to do in the future anyway. It will save you a bunch of money doing it now. You can still stick with a 55-60# thrust, just do it with 24V. Now, there are going to be those that will say get an 80 or more, it's not needed on that weight boat unless you fish fast moving riivers or large lakes with extreme winds. For my personal use, I would stick a 60# variable speed, 24V motor on it. Variable speed, not one of those with set speed numbers on it. One other thought, if you think you might go to 24 volt in several months, get the battery now and just run the two in parallel until you upgrade the motor. That way the batteries will still be the same age with the same run time on them. Keeping the batteries the same is extremely important when in series for 24 volt use. If they are not it will damage the stronger battery fairly quickly.

  47. A trip to the Kingfisher Society is on my bucket list. It's going to be my retirement gift to myself. I'm one of the BR members who makes regular trips to Trophy Country in north central Missouri. Made the first trip in 2002, and have been doing three or four trips every year since. Costs $100 / day to fish, $40 / night lodging. There are quite a number of strip pits to fish. Some are a bit difficult to get to. Don't come over here in your BMW and expect to be able to get into very many places. You use their boats. You can't take your own. There's no place to put your own boat in the water. The larger pits have two boats each. Smaller pits have one boat. The largest body of water has three boats on it. When you check in you get a pair of batteries, pair of seats, cushions, paddle and a spare trolling motor. You get fresh batteries every day. You go where you want. The water you pick to fish on any given day is not crowded. The fishing is almost always outstanding for numbers. I've had numerous 100+ fish days. I've had a handful of days where I had to stop and duck tape up my thumb because I got tired of seeing it drip blood all over everything. I've caught two 8lb bass in my lifetime. One of them came from TC. 8's and 9's are caught every year, just not by me. You guys from Florida, Texas and california can scoff all you want at an 8 pounder. That's a giant in my neck of the woods. So, yeah, I don't mind at all paying $100/ day to fish at Trophy Country. Don't like the idea? Then don't do it. You wanna look down on me for paying to fish? Well then, knock yourself out, buckwheat. I could care less. I make the trips to get away from everything, decompress, eat some good food, drink some fine whiskey, smoke some top shelf cigars, hang out with some excellent friends, tell some lies, and catch a few fish. That's worth $100 a day to me. I can afford it, and as long as i'm healthy enough to do it, I will continue to make the trips every year.
