  3. Went out on a guided trip into the Everglades today and seriously fished a jig for the first time. I had zero confidence in one. I caught over 30 bass on one today both pitching and making long casts with it;Including one that I lost that was easily over 7 and would have been a new pb, but he came off just as the guide reached for the net. It has become a new confidence bait now that I dialed in what the bites feel like. That thump is addicting. Time to visit TW again...

  5. 20lb braid on a baitcaster throwing 1-4oz lures is a bad situation waiting to happen. We know you're the anti-big gear guy and that's cool, but suggesting 20lb braid for swimbaits is going to cost someone some money.

  9. Woody and I hit the Double Secret Pond in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, around 8:30 today and he caught around 15 and I got about 20. Together we probably missed another 10 to 15. Nothing over 1.6 pounds but it was nice to catch some bass to start the Virginia fishing season. What was interesting was that some of the bass were light grey while others were already green. Once the pond heats up the fishing should be excellent. Woody had a fun time for the three hours we were there and I had a blast. They never touched a plastic and wanted crankbaits and Chatterbaits.

  14. Do you know how much line a rod 7'4" verses a rod 6'6" moves a jig cast 90 feet away when ripped hard upwards from 10 O'clock to 12 O clock, a traditional hook set? zero! If I told you I can hold the jig Between my thumb and index finger and you could swing for the fences at 90 feet away, using a traditional hook set, the jig wouldn't leave my fingers. If you first reel the line tight or until you feel resistance, then sweep the rod back hard, the jig my hit you with a hard force, you can't hold onto the jig. The forces are 100 fold with a reel set and rod sweep verses a hard rod set without taking up all the slack line first, when the jig is cast horizontal over 90'. The longer rods helps to make longer casts and control big bass when coupled to high IPT reels that helps to take up line faster. Tom

  17. I throw a football jig on 16lb sniper and have never had a problem. I throw em on a powell 714. Reel down to em and sweep the rod to the side, almost like a Carolina rig hook set.

  19. Interesting. Most seem to think the female in the relationship should "learn to deal with it". Any less of an attitude than that indicates a man is henpecked. It's a two way street. At least it should be. If you are unwilling to compromise, avoid any and all relationships.

  21. We all have a few - we usually let them fly immediately upon losing a bass and are often not shy about directing them at our definitely now depressed fishing buddy, right after he or she experiences the agony of defeat. Here's a couple of my favorites: "I just got Toasted" "She Just Chewed Me Up & Spit Me Out" "She Took Me To School & Stole My Lunch Money" You got any ? A-Jay

  22. I'm very blessed to live in a community with stoked bass lakes that hold very large bass. since November I've been killing them with the Flash mob JR. the shad have been schooling and I've been watching the bass attacking them . Ill throw the rig in the shad and a good amount of time ill get a hit off it . I'm convinced that the "A rig " is the most productive lure on the market. I've never used it in the the summer but until i stop slaying them with it , it will remain on one of my rods. i use bait casters and spinning reals but when ever i use the A RIG i prefer to use my spinning rod , to prevent backlashes. I have 40b power pro super slick bright green with fc sniper 20 lbs fluro for a leader. One day last week i even put a sexy shad crank bait on the back of it .It seemed to get tangled up with the other swim bait i had on , but still caught a couple of fish off it. I took it off to prevent tangles. now i use 4 shad swim baits on the outside and one clears looking swimsuit on the tail end of the rig. I have yet to cath more than one fish at a time but I'm sure sooner or later i will . I also caught my PB off the rig , 8.74 lbs, it was to say the least a monster. i hope this info is helpful, and I'm curious if anyone uses this lure in the summer, and what there experience with it is? THANK YOU THE BASS WHISPERER.

  26. Wrapped up *what I hope to be* my last big order from TW before the season starts. Got a bunch of plastics and a boatload of terminal tackle. With a few more fleabay purchases making their way across the Pacific, I will be ready to attack in no time! Also shook hands on my new project boat- picked up a 12' semi-v and trailer from my brother that's in awesome shape. Hoping to get it over to the sandblaster's next week sometime to begin the overhaul as she's been a lawn ornament for some time. After she's blasted clean I'll be repainting it gray with some ultra-heavy-duty machine epoxy and adding a light carpeted floor. Can't wait to get to work!

  28. I see skipping and light weight casting as "force-feeding" baitcasting tackle and more trouble than it's worth when you can just pick up another tool to make the job easier. That said, playing with the tackle is a big part of fishing for a lot of us. I've seen and heard conflicting opinions on the best setup and technique for caster-skipping. It will probably boil down to trial and error to see what works for you.

  30. Minus adjustment for reel seat location a 6'6" rod swept from 9:00 to 12:00 (90*) will move the tip 10.362 feet. A 7' rod will move the tip 10.99 feet. The difference is .628' (7.5") Once the slack is removed it shouldn't matter what plane the sweep is made on, in as far as how much line (and hook) is moved. I try to be quicker on the draw with jigs than plastics as they don't seem to hold them as long. I try keeping the tip low enough as working the jig so there's always some rod avilable to set the hook without too much reeling down.

  37. Great Video - Thanks for sharing it - But PLEASE ~ do yourself a huge favor and invest the $15 Bucks and get a Fish Grip. You're going to get one eventually, might as well save yourself a trip to the ER - Besides, trebles in the hand are not exactly a good time. 47. The bite is starting to move closer to shore at Linganore which I am sure means the same for Black HIlls. I had my first productive day this year. Caught five including my first smallmouth on the main part of Linganore. Was around 16". Didn't think to take a pic Water temp still a little on the cold side at 54*. All fish caught on my goto Zoom Fat Albert Black w/red flake on Charlie Brewer Slider. This one was just about 20" and looks to be eating. A smaller one from yesterday. Hopefully will be out again next week.
