No, it's not mono, it's flouro. AND, it's great as a main line...Glorified?...I don't know...maybe. Oh,...the $10...I'll keep it and stop at Steak and Shake for breakfast on the way to the lake. Hope you don't mind...lol.

Dude I wish, there were a couple things that needed fixed that wasn't, they're making it right, give full story later. Just got home and I'm beat. 2007 911
Wow! Bored at work so I totaled up everything I've purchases at Tackle Warehouse since last April. This does not include my purchases elsewhere which are many. I feel like there is still so many more baits I could easily buy. Sitting at $5953.44 for just under a year of purchases. I sure do wish Tackle Warehouse had a membership like REI so I could get something back for the thousands of dollars I have spent. I'll opt out of showing this post to my wife who does support the addiction/passion but the numbers might be a little shocking to her. I wonder who else out there is dropping huge amounts of money on gear. I will say though I did have a 15 year hiatus and am getting everything back together. Whatever it takes I guess. Hopefully soon I'll have enough to direct some of that cash to a boat payment.
Only you can decide what works for you.
Listening to others got you into this. Take some time and go touch and feel rods and reels and deterime what feels good to you.

Great reels! I have 4 of them that I use regularly and one from the early 70's that I keep for nostalgic purposes. They are bullet proof baitcasters that can do just about anything a $300.+ reel can do today. I've pitched, cast'd, trolled, and beat up on these bad boys for many years. Regardless of what a fishing partner may be using, they can't do anything I can't do.
Best part is, you can pass it down from one generation to another. I've never had a "need" to go with anything else.
Finally got around to having my bench seat redone. Couldn't decide on having a center step or the middle seat. Really wanted to have the seat for the days my daughters go fishing with me. Upholstery guy came through and gave me both. Middle seat cushion is removable and flips over into a nice step to get into the back deck. Boat looks completely different now.
Before and after:
The e's have 6 brakes and I's only have 4. So having "2 brakes on" on both reels equates to more braking on the I than the e. 2 on on the e and 1 on on the I would both equate to a closer % of the brakes on. Also, older braid will cast better than new braid IMO. Try that and report back!

I am of the mind set that one's tackle, all your tackle, is a like a big chain; and you're only as strong as the weakest link.
When a portion of the chain is miss matched or not operating effectively, I'm changing it to eliminate the problem.

Learn to fish the umbrella rig. The few places I fish that have shad, when the bite dies for most fishing cranks and spinnerbaits, fishing one of these in the same areas will pick up fish the spinnerbaits and cranks won't. They just can't let that baitball swim past.
Will Wetline said above: "I'll be experimenting this year to see if I can figure a hook setup that will hang less frequently."
I've already got a 1/2 dozen blades set up with single #1 Siwash salmon hooks. A new experiment! Only one on the back side, nothing on the front. Last season I had much better results with removing the front treble. Reduced my bottom hook-ups considerably, yet I lost no more fish as a result. So, I figured, why not go one step further and see what happens!
There should be a lube port at the bottom of the reel. Use the oil for the worm gear. If you don't want to take the reel back sometimes the reel just takes some time to break in. Don't take the reel side plate off until ya watched a couple reel maintenance videos. I recommend lake fork guy videos to watch. They will take ya through the basics. Fishing Gear Clean Up:
I agree with alone. If that school was feeding for 3 hours, they likely had full bellies. Time to move and find another school. Come back the next day at the same time and try it again.
You are probably going to get quite a large variety of rod recommendations.
For open water lipless baits & medium depth baits I use a 7 to 7'6" MH moderate stick.
For shallow lipless baits in & around grass, I use a 7' MH fast rod.
And for true Deep baits I use a 7'6" plus MH or H Moderate glass or composite rod.
So you may be looking for more than 1 rig here.
As for the Brand, it's whatever tickles your fancy & your wallet.

Sorry we didn't get to see you Josh. We fished Housin, Six Mile, and Miles Creek today. The bite was steady all day but best in the morning. Tried a little hump fishing but most came off cypress or grass edges Felix and I ended up with 15 or 20 to 5#. Jerry was the lucky (skilled) angler that got the big one fishing a senko on the outside edge of the grass. We didn't see any beds but wish we did, would have been all over them! Water must have been clearer where you were. It's pouring rain now and is supposed to all night and tomorrow. Sure hope we can get out and try again!
Let"s Go Boats ~
We all know you're just sitting there in your new boat with that Big Fat Stupid - Hey look at my New Boat - Smile
Spill it . . . .

You're killin me! Whadya get? Whadya get? I always get a little pleasure hearing someone getting a new boat. I think it's because I want a newer boat but it just isn't in the cards for me right now.
Consider this bit of trivia; Eppinger Daredevle IMP spoon was one of the most popular bass lures at one time, the red with white stripe the leading color. Because of EPA Eppinger change red paint suppliers and as a result the new red painted spoons stopped selling, everyone wanted the original red white spoons.
The color was the same to the human eye, evidently the bass could tell the difference. Eppinger had both the new and original red paint analyzed and it turn out under ultraviolet light the original red looked florescent blue, the new red looked black. Eppinger went back to the original red paint supplier and sales picked up.
Sometimes there is more to things then we currently know.

I'm not new, but I lost my old account's password and my old email password; so, as you can imagine, I had to start fresh. Anyway, I'm an avid 19 year old bass fisherman from Wisconsin. I've been bass fishing for a couple years now, and I've learned a lot from bassresource these past few years. I'm currently going to college and enjoying my time there.
i've always wanted to fish penn warner but i'm 'afraid'. my uncle got a taste of a private club near his house and it 'retired' him from public lakes:) maybe i'll get up the courage this summer. maybe i can bribe you with lunch and a case of beer
i'm not looking forward to the snakehead eating my smallmouth/largemouth but i am looking forward to eating them. i hear their flaky white meat is amazing
Glad I decided to read this thread today, I was about to buy the 7'11"XH Guide select off of TW for full price to match up with a Cardiff 400A. Thanks to you guys i just got it for $95 instead of $135
Edit: and it wasn't a used model, the 7'11" started at $105 new, and for some reason amazon took another $10 off at checkout for some kind of okuma special.
Great reel. However, instead of an Ugly Stick, consider looking at a Berkley Lightning Shock Rod. This rod would definitely be lighter and more sensitive. And the price is not bad - somewhere around $40.00 if you shop around (Try Walmarts online!). Stick with the 7' or 7' 6" models.
I once scouted a lake nearby and found what seemed to be an abandoned and decaying dock next to the main road. Not too far from there there was a house with people outside. I made my way out onto the dock and waved at them and they didn't seem to care so I proceeded to fish the area. About an hour and a half later, someone parks on the main road and comes straight for me. He looks like he is ready to punch me in the face.
He starts lecturing me about how this is private property and that dock belongs to him and he's super ticked about my trespassing. I just did exactly as you described A-Jay: put on my most pleasant demeanor, explained to him that I had already picked up litter on the spot and would be leaving it nicer than when I arrived, explained that I thought it belonged to that other family and they didn't seem to mind so I thought I was okay. I remained hyper polite the whole time. Meanwhile some other guy shows up in a boat and I quickly understand that this is the first guy's friend and he's the one who called his buddy to tell him someone was trespassing on his dock. He's also looking for a fight from his attitude but I just remain calm and super polite and eventually the guy tells me I can fish from there today but never to come back.
Being super nice and smiling really disarms someone who is looking for a confrontation, it's even better when you know you are 100% in the right like in your case OP. Best of luck!
i live in south philly not that far from the stadiums so i fish FDR park, for creeks that i fish is the wissahickon creek for smallies, I'm a member at penn warner club in bucks county so thats were i usually spend my summers lol and for jersey i fish newton lake, and haddon lake, haddon isn't far from blackwood idk if you can bring a kayak there its maybe 5 acres but I've seen 5-6 pounders there and heard of people catching 7lbers there too its mostly punching pads but its a great place to fish
The only spots I have never shared are toothy critter spots. LOL! Nice fish Bill!
Now that I'm back in Washington county, I need to "re-learn" where to go up here.
Taking the boat out for the first time of the year this weekend. Not sure where I will try yet but leaning torwards Greenbrier or maybe Big Slackwater.

In early spring, I'll fish the wind blown shore as the wind will be blowing the warmer surface water there. During the spawn, I'll avoid those areas as too much wind will affect the nests. During the summer, I love a windy day as it will not only cause wave action which, in turn, will cut light penetration as well as keep me cooler. During the fall, I don't pay much attention to it.
