  1. Caught this guy yesterday on Mousam Lake. I only had a chance to get out for a few hours after work, but managed 6 fish. 4 Bass and 1 brookie and 1 brown. Quite a few lakes open in York County now.

  3. Shane that setup is SHARP! First lacrosse game tomorrow, against a rather tough team but we only graduated one senior last year and he was a 3rd line midfielder lol. We did win all of our games in our jamboree so hopefully we'll make a run in the playoffs this year... -EXTREMELY excited for the high school bass season this fall! Gonna work very hard this summer!

  4. Oh, and Here is that new reel I got today. I moved the Tourny Pro off that rod, and put on my new B.B.1 Pro, spooled up some pretty friggin' sweet Smackdown, and there you have one nasty Flippin' stick, topwater, and Carolina Rig setup.

  7. Ever wonder why your line is so limp after spraying it with Reel Magic? Reel Magic is a petroleum based product. It's because it strips the outermost layer from your line, making it limp. Eventually, as J said, you either get mush or you get a line that is dangerously brittle. I use the term "dangerously" because the baits I'm throwing ain't cheap nor are they light. One wrong move and an expensive bait is going flying, never to return. Line and Lure uses water to deliver its fomula onto the line. As the water evaporates, it leaves the actualy conditioner on the line. Petrol products and line is no bueno.

  14. My best friend and fishing buddy, Speedy Madewell, passed away last night. People grieve in different ways, but I choose not to be sad about his death, but instead celebrate his life. Speedy was a strong willed man, solid citzen, good husband and a great father to his children. His legacy is extended through his son and daughter and their four beautiful children. His wife Janie remains strong and serves as the matriarch in her extended family. So CHEERS for my friend. Speedy had a great run and I am proud to have known him. -Kent

  16. To the OP, never buy full retail if you can find better deals. At $130 you can have a better lews BB1 and Daiwa Tatula to name a few. Ron at Valley Tackle, which is a sponsor on here, will get you a deal within your $130 budget. The MG and S is nice but they aren't at the level of the Tatula and BB1. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.

  23. Well it has to be because you aren't doing something correctly. If the thousands of members on BR have no problems with a variety of knots to get the line on the spool and you do. All signs point to you then. I'm kinda hoping you are just trying to get a good laugh out of this and it's just a joke. Tie 2 over hand knots and tighten them down and use a piece of tape on them.

  24. Clayton i bought one of your chatterbaits from mondo before i went down to LOZ and i love that thing! great product!! Little update i havnt been on here much lately but I fish for the KSU fishing team and last month we had our midwest regional qualifier for the BASS national championship. This was a two day tourny (friday and saturday) we went down the week before the tourny to prefish, which fourtanatly was our spring break, during that week we boated ONE fish......So the whole next week we were kinda worried about going down and not catching a single thing. Thursday roles around and we are at the ramp at about noon to pre fish before our meeting we ened up boating two keepers before the meeting which made us feel a little better. Day one is here and we decide we are going to make a far run up north to gravious arm and fish it our first spot yields nothing but our second stop we landed TWO keepers and after we covered it for a while we decided to leave. Our goal of just weighing a fish in our fist college tournament is becoming reality. We ran further up the arm and found a bluff wall to fish on and the second cast with my A- Rig I landed a short and after that one it was on but the problem was it was all shorts. Finally i landed a 4lber to add to the bag. We left that spot and headed down to the glaize to fish the rest of the 4hrs and did not catch another fish. We were sitting in 15th after day one with two of the other KSU teams in 14th and 7th. The cut to go to the national championship was 14th Day two is here and we were happy to even be there at this point, and sitting in 15th with a shot at advancing to the national championship was just a bouns. We deciced to head all the way up to gravious where we caught our 4lber on day one....It payed off big time!! By 9:00am we had our 5 fish in the boat with two of them being 4.5lbs 1 3lber and 1 2lbs and 1 1.5lb. We knew we had to cull that one fish, we stayed on the spot until about noon with no luck at culling him we caught a bunch of shorts. We were headed back to the glaize when we decided to pull in a random cove we have never fished just to get out of wake from a huge boat coming through. I threw my A-rig across the face of a dock and while i was pulling my rig out of the water I got smashed!!! a 5lb 4 oz giant at this point in the day! Thats it we knew we were national championship bound. As the day came to a close we started wondering if everyone one else had as good of a day as we did? we walked across the stage with 18lbs 12oz! that put us in 1st for over an hr that we were in the hot seat! the second place team came up and knocked us off by 1lb 1oz! one more fish on day one and we would have been in 2nd. But we took third in our first college tournament! and we are national championship bound! It was such an amazing experience and i was glad that my parents and girlfriend were there to support us along with 7 other KSU teams. It was announced today that the Championship will be held on Lake chatuge in Georgia. The dates are July 31st and August 1st.

  35. Making contradictory statements without knowing the facts creates animosity.I have fished lake Casitas since 1958 and caught giant bass over 15 lbs* every year since 1979 until 2009., None since. I also made the argument that the giant bass population would adjust to feeding on what prey was available when the trout plants stopped. Casitas has a good population of red ear sunfish, bluegill, crappie, threadfin shad, crawdads and young of the year catfish and carp...plenty of food choices. The big bass that grew up eating planted trout didn't adjust, they starved. Not one bass over 12 lbs was caught between 2009 to date 2014. Castias averages over 50 bass exceeding 13 lbs for 30 years...zero since the trout plants abruptly stopped. I witnessed the starving bass and hard to except it could happen, not logical, but factual.. I know the new generation of bass are doing well, 18+ lb bass may not occur, but 15+ lbs could, time will tell. Tom * 18.6 lbs my top bass at Casitas.

  37. I use 10 pound PowerPro which is rated at 2 pound test equivalent mono. It is plenty strong for bass, pickerel, etc. Use a leader and you'll have your shock protection. 10 pound PowerPro has a lot of strength, arguably much higher breaking strength than 10 pounds. But 15 or 20 lb test is plenty fine, as well. I always use a leader with my braid setups (which is every setup I use). Always. Saves expensive braid is one reason and way to look at it. Some feel a leader helps with visibility issues. I'm not 100% convinced of this, but won't say it doesn't. And like I said, leaders add some shock protection. I've caught loads of bass 6 pounds to 7.5 using 10lb braid + leader. And many in thick salad, or in downed trees. Choose a leader size based on the type of cover/structure you're fishing. I pick up to 15 pound test leader when I'm fishing in trees. Lower when in weeds, etc. Just my .02....

  39. My wife has already accepted my addiction to fishing, so she knows what I got. I have no idea of how much of this, how many of those , or exactly what ungodly amount of plastics I have, but I do know this. It does not all fit in 4 tackle bags, 14 shoeboxes, two huge totes, several mid sized boxes, the bottom of my double closet, under the bed, and under the dresser, that's for sure. I know, because I still gotta put some stuff from today away somewhere!

  44. Anyone got any tips for catching trout this time of year? I wanna try it out with my spinning gear near some rivers around me. Don't really no where to go around here, but I have an idea. What has worked for you guys this time of year I know the water must be pretty cold and I don't know how active trout are now, but it gets me outta the house and who knows I might like it. I will be using my spinning gear so any help revolving around that would be good.

  47. Hoa's are the absolute worst. Obviously anyone who has time to be a hoa official, or whatever u call it, has no life of their own. So they have to interject themselves into others lives. I'd have written permission from your friend who lives on the lake in your tackle box at all times. That way when u get approached by some crazy black lady you can ask her, "Im sorry, am I on your property?" If she says yes, leave. If she says no, tell her to "tick off, mind your own business." If she calls the cops, produce your note for them and they won't/can't kick u out. Works for me in Virginia. I actually had a guy try and call the cops on me because I was fishing from the shore around his floating dock. The cops came, I informed them I was a guest in the neighborhood. I then produced the note, and my fishing licence. The cops informed the a hole that not only was I allowed to fish there, but since it was a floating dock that was not connected to his property, I could technically even fish on the dock if I wanted. I was actually about to move on from that spot, but decided to chill and fish on this dock for a while. I still fish on that dock everytime I go to that lake.

  48. My ol' lady calls me her ol' man. We dont find it disrespectful at all. Its actually an extremely common term in many parts of the world. Particularly those that speak the Queens English or a variation there of. There's no I'll intent or disrespect meant. An example. Sometimes I call her my Filthy Little W****. She often calls me Oh God!. There is no offense meant by either of those names. I guess its all in the context. Its not like I'm calling her a Manky Ol' Slag. Or a Old Bean Bag. Another example. Since you are over thinking a humorous thread. I may refer to you as an Old Fart or an Old Fuddy Duddy. As in. Lighten up ya Ol Fuddy Duddy. I mean no disrespect by either of those terms. You are simply older than me and you may fart. Or you may be a Fuddy Duddy. Don't believe me? Just ask Sir Snook. Thank you for viewing Raider Nay Shays educational post of the day. Addendum: We have been married for almost 9 blissful years. Been together for 11 years. Known each other for 24 years. Which is saying something cause I ain't but 30.
