  1. Yeah for sure, you get to go on the swimbait forums and use pretend curse words and act like a tough guy because you fish swimbaits. That's what I've noticed anyway.

  3. I only fish 3 color........ black and blue......green pumpkin with a few orange strands..... and PBJ. now for you: you are fishing stained to muddy close to 100% of the time? you are fishing less than 15 foot or less? you need quality jigs? this leads me to one answer: get Sieberts 3/8 oz brush head in black and blue and greenpumpkin with orange (bama craw or Jfranco) you only need one size as you are never over 15 foot but mostly under 15 foot. you only need one head style, as you are just starting and the brush head is a great all around head you only need two colors because you are only fishing muddy and stained. now for trailers: rage craws or netbaits paca craws 1. green pumpkin (a must) 2. black and blue flake (a must) 3. bama craw (optional) 4. anycolor that looks cool to you (optional) 2 colors of jigs in 1 size..... with 4 trailer colors ( only two are must have) is ALL you need

  4. Wealthy people don't pay $900 for fishing rods. That's why they're wealthy.

  5. The Hookers' Union A dedicated Teamsters union worker was attending a convention in Las Vegas and decided to check out the local brothels. When he got to the first one, he asked the Madam, "Is this a union house?" "No," she replied, "I'm sorry it isn't." "Well, if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?" "The house gets $80 and the girls get $20," she answered. Offended at such unfair dealings, the union man stomped off down the street in search of a more equitable, hopefully unionized shop. His search continued until finally he reached a brothel where the Madam responded, "Why yes sir, this is a union house. We observe all union rules." The man asked, "And, if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?" "The girls get $80 and the house gets $20." "That's more like it!" the union man said. He handed the Madam $100, looked around the room, and pointed to a stunningly attractive green-eyed blonde. "I'd like her," he said. "I'm sure you would, sir," said the Madam. Then she gestured to a 92-year old woman in the corner, "but Ethel here has 67 years seniority and according to union rules, she's next!"

  7. Frog, Mouse, Toad, Rat they're all man-assigned names for man's amusement, It's not likely that bass actually make a distinction between them Then again, I did overhear a couple bass talking about swamp donkeys, smokin roosters & space monkeys The important difference in topwater plastics is whether it's Solid (toad) or Hollow (frog). A solid toad typically sinks so they're normally fished nonstop to keep them on top (buzzed). A hollow frog floats so they can be fished with a stop-&-go retrieve without sinking. Roger

  8. I get what Jrob is saying......to SOME swimbaiters it's all about the swimbait and the image of chucking these huge baits . If you catch a DD on a "fairy wand" it doesn't qualify for SOME as a great catch because it wasn't a swimbait....if you catch that same DD on a swimbait all of a sudden for SOME you've attained instant respect. Jrob is spot on, it's a technique/tool that can be utilized and at the right time and location it can produce big results!

  9. My question would be, with the stop under the hook how would you get a successful hook set w/o there being a knot? Wouldn't the bobber stop (assuming its the same kind I use) slide down on you? Interesting idea nonetheless.

  11. So I gave her one She was more shallow than I normally fish, 6ft or so, and after the bite and hookset, she came straight to the surface on a Tear! We did the 'Under the Boat DANCE' for a WHILE before she finally lost a little steam and I eased her up to the side where I could land her. Since the bait (RAGE Bug) was firmly planted in her top lip with a 6/0 hook, I decided it best to reach under her belly and gently lift her in. As soon as I brought her up to me, she relaxed and gave me a Big O Hug and a fresh slime coat That's OK because she deserved pay a little payback at me back for the tussle. We said our fond farewells and back to her lair she swam... I have to say, she was a GREAT DANCER

  13. While pitching a 5" senko into the wind... With serious gust to 25 mph I was still getting 60' Curado I is so far a amazing reel..initial setting 2 brakes on... Adjustment dial at 1 ... 3 maybe 4 loose coils... Bumped adjustment dial from 1 to 3 no more loose coils... It's a long distance caster too.... 3/4 oz on heavy 7'6" loomis I was able to get 200 feet over and over and over. It's casting ability competes head to head with my CTE200GT... So far.. I really love this reel. Center clutch is super nice... You get a lot of reel at 179.99 No bb flush either... I won't even bother till warranty expires. I will be looking for a lefty before long!

  15. Prefishing…but fishing someone else's usual pattern and spots, and taking their fish on a live well ride. Far, far away. Sandbagging at the weigh in is classic. I've intentionally dragged my heels to weigh in last when I'm pretty sure I have a good bag. "Tough day. Threw senkos for 8 hours." I once put a 38" northern pike in the weigh in bag (they're black) as a little surprise for the weigh master. In team comps, keep a few of your bigger culls, and release them when a competitor is close by. Put all your rods away before check in, but leave a few on deck with ridiculous baits tied on. Once had a cat toy tied on my swim bait rod. Another time, I just left my little 7-6 3wt fly rod on the deck. If you have just one big fish, yell out, "crap, I've got six in here," and toss the monster out.

  16. Man, I cannot thank you guys enough. Thanks so much for keeping things simple for me. I decided to stick with one color and one size to start out. This will help keep me confident in the bait and remove the 'tackle doubt' from creeping up in my mind while I learn how to work with it. Once I start having some success, I'll introduce another color (or possibly another weight) to the mix. I just ordered some black and blue 3/8 jigs with black and blue trailers from Sieberts. Thanks again, I can't tell you how helpful this was.

  18. Sometimes a brace can mask a weak core or weak supporting muscles. Not saying this is your case, as we have never even met but you may also want to look into a light weight training program to fix the root of the problem. Check for a personal trainer at a local gym. He/she could give you some exercises to do at home even.

  21. Yeah till the day my daddy died he would have beat me down if ever heard id ' roughed up ' a women..Let me tell ya' something my pops looked like flippin Dick the Bruiser for all the older gents here that watch wrastlin' in its hey day..He was a lifetime Mason and he wore a sz 17 ring had to have it made special.d**n hands look like baseball mitts. So whenever he showed me the backside of it after the stars went away i paid attention. Even now as i sit here in agony from my shoulder and neck,if i heard someone screaming id slip on my jeans and go out and see whats going on. Not because im cruisin for a fight but because no matter how quick the cops get here sometimes things need to be dealt with before then.I always look at it like this if it was your mom.sister,grandpa,etc.AND they were in trouble you would appreciate someone checking it out....It most times is nothing but sometimes it is.Like when i stopped a 77yr old lady from getting raped behind my garage before we moved here.wasnt the nicest area. Dont really want to go into that here. But her whole family hunted me down and shooke my hand. hopefully trying to do the right thing doesnt kill me one day.

  25. They might be able to spit the bait faster because they can exert more force when they blow out a bait, but there's no way they always spit the bait out faster. I've had some big fish eat a bait and just sit there for several seconds while I'm weighing my bait and trying to decide if it's a fish or not.

  26. So I finally dropped the ball and went out and bought myself a glass rig this weekend. Spent Saturday giving it a clean up, lubrication, checking nav lights, etc etc. Ended up spending just a little more than I wanted to, but it could have been worse. Small rig being only 16.5 ft, but it's plenty big for me considering 90% of my fishing will be solo and in smaller waters. Brand new 24v minn kota. Bluewater LED's. New 2 bank on board charger. New batteries. Just needed a little TLC on some of the deck lids. Still needs a good buffing on the gel coat. The only major issue is the seats need a complete replacement. Though I'm in contact with a company who is offering me a hell of a deal to replace them in exchange for some before and after photos. All that's left is to install the electronics I have at home and drop it in the water. Looking forward to that in a few days.

  30. I fish a football 100% of the time, rock, laydowns, wood, everything. I like it keep it simple and not get worked up, lol. you can get the football, but I you might like a brush head a little more. The brush head/alien head is an all around head. fish it some, and see what you like. In fact since in your position you only need 2 colors, get one in football and one in a brush head and see what you like.

  32. can you float tube it or like the above comment, use a small water craft. If so work the outer edges of the weeds. The deeper lily patches would be a great idea as they may be staging on it. It looks like you have a creek that runs into it as well(drainage canal), Bet the point is steep and that would be a good area. Buddy had one of these behind his house in Louisiana and I took a dropshot to them. The neighbors didn't even know there were that many bass in there and it was in the middle of July, And if you want a bigger fish, try a bigger bait. Try a larger wake bait, or try a 6" huddleton swimbait or the 68 special and see what happens. Remember, big fish like a big meal, and the less work they have to get it the better. I wish I had a pond like that behind my house.

  37. I listen to music all the time while fishing. With Pandora and blue tooth it is so easy with an unlimited amount of choices at your finger tips. I love it just loud enough for me and my fishing partner to enjoy, without imposing on others. When bank fishing I use ear buds to enjoy the experience. It helps me concentrate on my fishing. I never listen to the same music day after day. I wonder if the ones apposed to music in the boat ride around all day in the truck with the windows down, listening to the road. I doubt it! But I do believe in everyone's freedom of choice. Each to their own!

  40. But you added the words "Carolina keeper" and "weightless" to the description, lol. That I understand. When someone says they used a T-rigged creature to catch the winning bag, no one thinks it was weightless. Right?

  41. I use that stuff on every part of the reel. Cuts my cleaning time by three fold. As a side note, it also gets scum off my aluminum Xpress hull, makes the white letters on my tires look new, it's the best thing I've found to clean my rubber floor mats, makes my stove top glimmer, gets that nasty stuff stuck to the back of the fridge, and nothing gets my teeth whiter. Ok, last part was a lie.

  42. 6' 6" St. Croix LTB/Lew's Speed Spool with 14lb Mustad Ultra Line and a War Eagle finesse spinnerbait. First fish was actually a 14.5" crappie First bass ate the same bait on the same set up, can't remember which one it was but it was one of these two!

  43. WD (water displacement)-40 isn't originally meant as a lubricant. It does displace water and dissolve rust to some level. It works as a line treatment same as Reel Magic but KVD L&L works better and is safer on the line and environment. No silicone spray belongs anywhere near a reel's internals as it dissolves grease. As for fish attracting power, I've heard some old timers used to swear by it, but with so many actual attractants available why leave the oil slick on the water?

  44. If it should move and does not then WD40, if it moves and should not then duct tape. Spraying your lures with WD40 is as environmentaly friendly as pouring a can of gasoline.

  45. Caught a 4.8 plush carpet. Was work in around the couch with a 1/2 jig on a 7ft c arbonlite with a lews tournament. Pitched in between the coffee table and couch. She hit it as soon as it entered. Fought her for about 5 min then a largemouth labradoodle came out of nowhere to try and steal my trophy. Had to scare it away with loud yelping noises and baconstrips.

  46. Simple physics; big bass have big mouths and eject lures easily without you knowing it. Smaller bass tend to strike a lure that doesn't fit inside their smaller mouth and run off with the lure so other bass can't steal it from them. Very easy to detect a strike when the bass moves the lure, difficult when there isn't any movement. Tom
