Solid advice from aharris! A few other words of wisdom, respect his water. Draw a mental line sideways across the boat somewhere near the console and don't cast in front of that. It should be common sense to people who fish a lot, but as they say... common sense isn't always common. You'd be surprised how many times I've had a partner in the back of the boat launch one straight over my head, or right in front of the tm as we're turning. Also remember to drop the guy some cash at the end of the day. Gas and oil aren't cheap these days and they're forking over a lot of money to get there boat to the lake and then to keep it running once they get there plus the wear and tear on their equipment.
my luck has been with Bama bug, pb&j and black with blue neon. I also use them as trailers and as texas rigged. weightless to 3/4 ounces to punch through grass and weeds. I keep it simple.
In as always. Let that old Minnesota magic give me some lovin. It will take a 76ish to be in the top. That's how it has been. Dwight is going down. Even if it takes bribing the moderators to delete his posts of 70 points or better.

They are more mending than you might imagine. I also want to say that the compassion expressed in this forum goes far beyond this thread.
It gives the members of Bass Resource a better understanding of the solid support system that exists here.
Glenn at the helm of this enormous vessel should not be taken lightly, because he can steer his ship in the direction of his choosing.

The biggest reason i use fluoro on almost everything is its slack line sensitivity. Braid doesnt have any and mono isnt as dense. Nothing beats braid when using a tight line. Once theres a bow in the line or you are letting the bait fall on slack line, fluoros sensitivity is unmatched. Its abrasion resistance is also great. As far as handling and memory, use kvd line and lure conditioner and all your problems go away. Tie the right knot and check your line and you wont have any mystery breakoffs
My camera died so i never could get that picture. And the bystanders happened to forget their camera and scale at home. As i measured it against some rocks i was able to make a mental note of it's size and girth and plugged it onto the online fish calculator and it was around 32 pounds give or take. But, again, i was trying to be conservative on the weight. I know where she is, I'll catch her again this spring. Or how about, she was all spawned out and would have been at least 3 pounds bigger? Or, it was one day before opening season when i caught her so i had to let her go. Lastly, i have caught many in the upper teens lower 20's range and she was easily bigger if not double that size.
On a side note, it would be nice to see somewhere besides northern states have a chance at winning this thing.
Don't try to match him. Try to throw something similar to what he's throwing, but different. For example, if he's skipping docks with a jig, throw a senko or a shaky head. If he's throwing a spinnerbait down the banks, throw a square bill. Ask him the night before what kind of stuff yall will be fishing so you won't have to take everything in the world with you.
Oh, and here you go, boys and girls. I was going through some baits today, and put together the prize pack for our little contest. There's a couple baits missing from one or two of the packs, but this should give somebody a nice little boost to the tackle box! Good luck, all!
I'd skip the braid and go with 12# CXX on the caster, and 6 or 8# Invisx on the spinner. I generally only use braid in heavy cover, and I prefer fluoro or a strong copoly.
Technology has moved right along including Round Reels, thus making them fun to fish with. They palm very easily and probably are a little deceptive when you look at them from that aspect. With a recessed reel foot they do lay down real sweet onto the rod making them very comfortable to cast with. From the 50 up to the 300 they all have a home in my quiver....I would suggest you try one and see for yourself...The Round Ones minus a few.
That's: (left to right, top to bottom)

After I graduated college I almost became a registered Maine guide. I had passed the written and oral test all I needed to do was pass the field test. An opportunity came up to work in remote Alaska. I was out of Maine in less then a week so I was unable to even take the field exam. Perhaps when I retire 25 years from now I will be a guide. We will see. I just love taking people fishing and see them catch fish. If I take someone fishing and they don't catch fish I feel like I have failed them. Almost 99 % of the time they do catch fish and good quality fish too. I have been a free guide for years...
A big fish in tournament waters, is a bigger accomplishment to me as compared to non tournament waters... My current PB came out of a small chain of lakes less than 1000 acres which does not host tournaments, but my previous PB of 7.38 lbs came out of tournament waters during prefishing, i actually am more proud of that fish than the 8+ out of the much less pressured system... those big ones are fun to catch no mater what though...

and what if those two catch nothing when a worm or lizard wouldve worked the whole time? your "search baits" found nothing, you still really want to call them search baits?
