  1. Thats just flat out wrong, especially in 17+ 20lb test, it's not as good as Abraz-x, but it's better than Invis-x (as far as abrasion resistance goes) within the Seaguar line, and it's leaps and bound better than Vicious, Trilene 100%, , and Vanish. Which I have tried first hand and found them all to be worse than Red Label. I'll be the first to admit, that if I fished super abrasive conditions more often, I would probably opt for the Abraz-X, but to say Red Label is awful is pretty opinionated.

  5. This thread is most amusing. Clothes? What to wear? What not to wear? I don't dress to impress. Just ask my wife. Well excluding Ghoti's soiree of course. But that's just to tweak a couple of clothes horses we have that are meticulous in the apparel they wear. If someone gave me a billboard fishing shirt, I'd wear it. But I'm not inclined to spend my money on it for the purpose of impressing others. A fishing shirt is not going to cause me to catch one more, or one less fish. I wear clothing to protect myself from the elements, and to spare the eyes of others around me. "Clothes make the man." Not in my book. I can put my shirt on our dog. He'll still be a dog. I can wear a lab coat, but that doesn't make me a doctor. I'm perfectly comfortable with those who are meticulous, and take pride in their appearance. It's just not for me. Different strokes for different folks and all that rot. I wear what I want, and I extend that same privilege to others around me, without concerning myself as to why they dress the way they do. That's just me, about 40 years ago. I dress to impress.

  13. didn't say it was awful. i said it's abrasion resistance was awful. heck, i even said it was decent cheap fluoro. I'll expand on my previous statement just for you. Among the vast amount of fluorocarbons I've used, Seaguar Red Label is one of the few decent budget minded options for someone that wants to take a small step into the world of fluorocarbon. I've used all of Seaguars stateside fluorocarbons. Of which, Tatsu is the best I've used to date. I've used most fluoros you can find in your everyday tackle store including Sunline (FC sniper could arguably be the best midrange fluoro available), Vanish, 100% Trilene, Suffix (both old and new castable), Vicious and Stren. In my personal experiences with using fluorocarbons (and I use straight fluorocarbon for almost everything I am able to) Red Label had the worst abrasion resistance in the 15-20# range I've ever used. I was originally using it in 12# for squarebills and lipless cranks and felt it was okay at best so I bought a few spools on clearance a few years ago to try on jig/trig set ups and was gravely disappointed. Obviously, you're experiences may vary.

  23. Wet your line and tie it slowly. you are probably tying it incorrectly or maybe bad line. I've been using that knot and that knot alone on fluoro for that past few years and can't remember a breakoff due to knot failure.

  27. Again many thanks. Well me and a friend had an awesome day on the water today chasing largemouth. But I had to apologize to him once as I could tell my mind was in other places even though fishin was good. I was just really quiet and maybe said a couple words. (yup...apologized to the man upstairs too). Anyway one more day on the water before I get to talk to docs.

  33. I'd like to see a 5:1 and 7:1 gear ratio in a new 50 sized curado. I'd also like to see them offer tuning options, like spools and handles.

  36. Yep you sure can.. Shimano has had oversized gears(HEG) for awhile now. I might pick up a Curado G5 for cranking. It looks like a great platform for supertuning. And I cant wait to see what is replacing it!

  38. I do think you would look goofy...but it would have nothing to do with the classy bassresource jersey, it's just that you look GOOFY  All kidding aside, wear it with pride. It is your money, and if you want to wear it, by all means go for it. You don't have to earn anything, other than the money you need to pay for it.

  42. Using a melting pot and not open fire is the key. Lead is actually quite safe to work with even with just the most minimal procautions. By using a melting pot you will likely never to get lead hot enough to contaminate air. I am by no means saying do not use precautions. Please use them. Someone said something about water ....Think of one drop of water expanding to 300x its size in a blink of an eye the displacement of liquid lead will equate to about the size of a golfball being blown out of your pot...No good can come of that. Most people have enough common sense to not hurt themselves...Burns yes, no matter what precautions you take it will happen. BE SAFE...Some actual facts below.. Keep the temperature on the lead pot as low as possible. Lead melts at 621°F. Lead boils at 3180°F, but significant amounts begin to evaporate above 900°F. Any lead vapor quickly forms a very fine lead oxide powder and can be inhaled.

  43. are you putting on that football jersey and stepping on the field? For your sake, I hope not. Sorry, but if I see a guy wear a biker shirt/ fishing jersey but aren't actually sponsored, I'd have a negative first impression. What about those guys who wear military medals but never served? Displaying national pride and attracting new recruits, or a toolbag looking for attention? If I ever wear a jersey, it will be because I earned it. Until then, I'll stick with BR sticker on my truck and hope someone I pass see's it and visits.

  44. I would not recommend the 698ci HD SI Combo, The discontinued 798ci HD SI Combo or 598ci HD SI Combo would be a better choice. The new 600 series units have narrower dispays which is exaclty what you do not want with the Side Imaging technology. BIGGER is better with Side Imaging or Structure Scan, smaller is worse.

  45. I use a solid black skirt and a sapphire blue trailer all the time during the summer when flipping heavy vegetation or pads. The black gives that profile in the shadows, while the blue offers the contrast. This combo has landed me some big fish early more than once.

  47. You know I feel really like Santa just because of the smiles I get when I give them little things. I been married for forty years in the spring. I'm still working on my marriage to keep it a success. It never stops let's face it. I try to stop and listen more lately. I make sure it's all good. I can never figure out what she really likes or wants with her being an accountant she's cheap and won't spend money. We all just surprised her on her 60th birthday. My kids wanted to pay but dad picked up the $1,000 tab for the birthday bash with family and friends plus coworkers. It meant more than money to me. We really kept it under wraps for a month too that was hard. She never bothers me about any of my hobbies. She's a great mother to my children, a great partner to me. She keeps both of my feet planted on the earth. Remember you get out of a marriage/partnership what we put into it. God bless, bill
