They'll have backing from an un-named, established company. The whole point of the business is to make money and both the pro and the "silent partner" will do just that.
It's better to make 10% of something than 100% of nothing.
Where on earth would you get 2 high quality treble hooks for $.50??? Most high quality trebles are close to $1 apiece and tacking on an extra $2 to a $5 bait is going to keep people from buying a bait or at least keep them from buying as many. Where as someone may be willing to buy 2 baits at $5 apiece, they might only be willing to buy 1 if they're $7, costing the company $3. That really adds up several hundred or thousand times over. They put those hooks on there because they can keep the prices down and they're still good enough for the average Joe if he doesn't want to go through the BS of changing hooks.
Nothing wrong with the Okuma. I'm actually getting one of the EVX rods to throw the giant stuff around.
I've used the Crucial and owned most of the Guide Series Big Bait rods. The Okumas are a better stick at a lower price point.
I set three new PB this year.
A 14 in. -1.5 lb. Perch (caught while fishing for Smallmouth)
A 7 lb. Smallmouth
A 53.5 inch Musky
I am going to be honest. I don't anticipating beating any of these PB for the rest of the life let alone in the next year (except for maybe the Perch, which was caught by total accident anyway)
i say skip the mini van and get a big ole Expedition or a Suburban and really leave your footprint on the world! lol
I had to drive one once transporting prisoners from Florida to Kansas. I had guns, bad guys and was rocking the cheep sunglasses..........I still wasn't cool.
It will not float but it will sink much slower than the sinker depending on the weight of the hook. So the weight hitting the bottom gets the fish's attention and when it comes to investigate it finds a nice worm slowly falling. As you bring the weight up and through the grass the weight will penetrate the grass and the worm will rest on top only if the leader is long enough.
I try to learn new techniques or get better at something every year. Last year I was really working on getting better at deep water fishing, deep cranking specifically. I had pretty decent results, including a 7 1/2 pounder that was my second biggest fish of the year.
BigAL,
I am 280 lbs, and my brother in law is about 220 lbs. We both fish comfortably on the 10 ft bass raider. We even wanted to put it to the test one day, so we both stood on the same side rail, and bounced. Never turned it over, and never took on water. These little beasts are the miracle boat for a poor man!
My Logistical skills have improved.
Over the past couple of seasons, I'm much better at moving my rickety old carcass to where the Bigger Bass live.

Lol. I don't have one anymore. Had my grandfathers for years. But it got to where every time I moved it was something else to move that never got used. So I threw it away. It only accumulates a few inches once a year at the most lately. And it will melt the next day if u just leave it there. I've always just left it there anyway. If you pile it up it will stay there for week and looks bad. Never could figure out why people do that. I shoveled my grandmothers but not ours. I salt or throw sand on it if it turns to ice.
My father in law bought a snow plow truck a couple of years ago to add to his fleet of equipment. Used it one time that year to push off a couple of local parking lots. It never moved last year. He is hoping to sell it this winter. Lol.
It's funny because if you look in any elderly persons garage here, they will have a snow shovel of some sort maybe two. But it just doesn't snow anymore like it used to. I only remember getting 6 inches twice and 8 once in my life time. Used to get about three snows a winter that would add up to an inch or two average.
It sucks to.
Il loan you some sunshine for some snow. If it's going to be cold I want it to snow. Love to see everything covered in at least four inches. Twice a winter at least. Gives me reason to stay home from work and play with the kids.
I'm hoping by posting this I get my four inches tonight. There calling for a dusting tonight.
And the transformation begins....
Luckily it's reversible in about 15 years. The minivans are now ancient history, and my little one is 17 with a F250 of her own.
That's a good little article, but you'll notice that it goes Full Circle (i.e. Inconclusive).
Not sure where the notion started that a fine braid filament scares fish, but it's as tenacious as the witches of Salem

Ice fish, and buy new bass tackle, but that's about it. I actually like the break. Keeps me from getting burned out. I'll know when I have "lost" it when I don't get excited for the ice to melt in early spring, or bummed that I have to put the boat up in the late fall.
It's already tough, but I work two jobs, have a family, and am trying to finish my MBA by June..... That'll fill up most of my time.
Thankfully I have plenty I want to learn, so I'll be reading Bassresource until thaw!
They may look good but what catches fish is not how they look but how they move ( action ), at 1-2 dollars I don´t expect much quality and uniformity. at 1-2 dollars the first thing I expect to be poor quality are the hooks.
I have had great success with using Strike King Plastics. Mostly the coffee tubes. With and 1/8 or 1/4 tube jig head. I have caught 1211 bass over the last summer and I can honestly say that 3/4 of them were on Strike King plastics.
Chili Palmer: What is that? Rental Car Attendant: It's an Oldsmobile Silhouette a Honda Odyssey. Chili Palmer: I ordered a Cadillac Denalli. Rental Car Attendant: Oh, well, you got the Cadillac Denalli of minivans.
That's a good thing when the fish sees your line, than you know for sure he's seen your lure
I use braided polyethylene for 'everything' (spinning, casting, freshwater, saltwater ~)
Leaders are bad because they break the continuity, I want the fish to follow my line all the way to the lure
Kickin' Wing - you won't be getting the captcha thing again. That's been fixed.
Everyone else - the network we're on went down for 3 hours today. It's back up and running again, so you shouldn't encounter any more problems. Apologies for the high blood pressure, loss of appetite, cold sweats, and bloody knuckles from punching computers.
Hey I would check out the Denali Jadewood Crankbait rods! Valley Sports (Beat The Big Box Boys) has them on his site for just 100! Great rods at a great price and from a site sponsor as well!
I don't have much to add other than be grateful your still fishing, a bunch of us on here have the same "glass" looking water conditions your talking about but its because we have ice on the lakes.
I use small crankbaits and tubes. A good crankbait color is shad or bluegill and a good tube color is green pumpkin. Also, never leave home without a pack of rage craws!
