alright guys and gals here she is. so as most of you can assume caught it on a popr. Rained all morning when I was supposed to go out w AK and Czar, got a break around 1030 so I decided to head out to my spot up the street. was working the smaller of the two ponds w no action at first. Was about to head over to the second pond but I decided to work this weeded shoreline that I missed a nice one at the other day. This thing hit literally 2 feet in front of me, I coulda picked it out of the water w my bare hands lol. With all the rain it was pretty murky water or else I probably could have seen it where it was sitting. Still put up a nice fight took out a bunch of drag before I got it on shore. So as you can see the tape measure stops at 24" but its also hanging off the front lol so im just gonna call it 24" and as for weight it was 8lb 3oz. My previous pb was 6lbs. Lou ive completely lost track of what I have left to cull but I think its either an 18 or 18.5 so this should put me at 105 or 104.5.
Bassmaster needs to update this list!

Any Merc dealer can do warranty work.
Sam, I've found a much easier way to acquire extra keys. I drop the boat off at the shop without keys and the mechanics always leave their spares in the ignition.
As we close out another year, I wanted to personally thank everyone for making BassResource.com your home....our home. Without you, this place would be empty. It's your spirit, insight, and camaraderie that make this place happen, and I don't take that for granted. You have choices, and you chose to come here. So THANK YOU!!
The mod crew and I also want to thank all our sponsors for the support they gave us in 2013. Without their support, this site wouldn't exist. Simple as that. Don't know why there is so much hate for these reels. Find it kind of strange since they are used by one of "the best", if not "THE BEST", bass fisherman in the country.
Yeah, I know, his are special, made just for him.....yada, yada, yada......

Those silly folks over at Quantum - every reel they sell is defective.
That's not right.
Why can't those guys make a good reel ?
How the heck do they even stay in business selling all those bad reels ?
I just can't believe it -

My day at the glades went well. Not as well as the Northern guys have been doing but none the less we had a good time. Wind was blowing hard from the East at 20 -25+ MPH and the day was overcast all day. We boated 45 fish using an assortment of baits. I just stuck with Pitching and Frogging. My brother in law, used trick worms, flukes, and frog. Unfortunately, from the amount I caught none were contest worthy. Oh well. I did catching a pretty nice mudfish on my new Dobyns and it handled it easily. I also caught a beautiful 11" Oscar on the frog. That was my first. I am done for December. I have to rest my arm so that LMG and I can tear it up on Wed. Enjoy the pics.
Let me say that was a ton of fun! Heck he wasn't even all that big and put up decent fight. It's a shame it was the only one I caught with a spinner bait. But I got my new arsenal of stuff coming in tomorrow and I can't wait to try it.
Caught this guy at 97th ave (Snapper Creek)
My dad was able to buy a new Triton x17 and lucky for me I got to benefit from his good fortune as well.. I now have a bass boat and I am super pumped!!

Took it out the other day and tried to come out the hole with the motor trimmed up a little too far, lessons learned.. It was really great to be able to go from spot so spot at 50mph and fish on a flat deck with nice trolling motor.. I am so thankful to be lucky enough to hae received this.. I wanted to share this good news!
Who thinks a 1998 Toyota Tacoma 2.7L will pull this?
I just wanted to share, another of our beautiful exotics down here in South Fl. I landed this guy on a frog while fishing in the Everglades today. This one measured 11" and I had to take this pic, because of its colors. Not only are these fish scrappy fighters, they can have some real pretty red patterns. Enjoy!!
Man I got one worse then that. The wife wants to ditch my (our) four door truck and get another SUV. To seat more people. I can't believe I said it but I said. We need a mini van. Oh what was I thinking! Maybe it was the pain pills I'm on. Il bet that was it.
She runs to much to pay the fuel bill on a SUV again. I don't drive on weekends I copilot and push dents in the floor board wishing I had a brake pedal on that side to. So I really don't care what she drives. But my truck stays!
I drive the above pictured astro van for work. Well minus the pretty paint job. Lol.
It's the right tool for the job and you know it.
So go with the flow Dude.
But remember, this is one vehicle where excessive speed does not make you look cool.

new to the website but not to the pond fishing in jax, everything AK-Jax86 said is correct! im out in fleming island getting strange looks like "why the hell is that man fishing in that pond".
Ahhh, the 'ol Looser Cruiser. I'll be honest with ya ***looks over both shoulders*** I'd own another in a heartbeat. We bought a 2001 Caravan and we were very happy with it. Very roomy, comfortable and plenty of room for hunting, fishing, outdoors stuff and general crap. We owned it up to around 130K when she was ready for something else so we just bought a Subaru Forester...and that is one heck of a vehicle. As stated, it takes some mental adjustment but you will like it.
I used to work for a car dealership as a lot guy/shuttle driver. To shuttle I used an oddessy. I think it had either a 3.6 or 3.8 v6 and that thing would get up and go. One time a guy said I should be a race car driver lol. I know people think they are girly but with a big engine they pack some ummphhh. Plus if you two need a break you can sit in the drive way and watch a DVD.
Different strokes for different folks...
I don't use braid for cranking personally, but some folks do with great success. Using braid gives you better hooksets, but increases the possibility of pulling trebles out. In this case, you are relying on the rod as the shock absorber, rather than line stretch. For lipless, the braid certainly enhances the ability to rip out of grass...but at the expense of perhaps more lost fish. BUT 50lb braid - sounds like overkill to me. If you've buried a lipless so deep in grass to need 50lb braid to rip it out, you will probably end up with so much grass left on the hooks that the bait will be dead (no action) all the way back on the retrieve (and this assumes you didn't break your rod while trying to rip the bait out ). The idea is to tick the tops of the grass, not bury it.
I just checked my records and over the last four seasons I've caught 967 fish on lipless cranks, including LMB up to 9.5lb and grass carp up to 48 pounds, with line tests between 8 and 17lbs. Works for me...
The Bandit got off early today so we went fishing at a new spot. A friend came with. Fun but frustrating day for me lol. We caught 25 total in an hour and 45 minutes. The Bandit got an 18", 17" and 14" right off. They should have been mine lol but I gave him choice spot for finding this hole. I only caught 5 and the two biggest were 12". It was nice to be back out. We were all fishing Carolina rigged watermelon red and green or similar.
don't have much time to post as I am already holding up my wife but caught this guy today on the pop r, measured out to be 21.5 (ak thinks 22 but since I slid it off the front I cant get to picky lol) puts me at 98.5 after culling an 18" will post the story later on when I get back
Thanks, you really answered my question well. I have a 6' medium power spinning rod, a 6'6" med/heavy baitcaster and a 7' heavy baitcaster. Right now I am using my medium heavy for the rat-l-traps because the rod and line are strong enough to rip through grasses. I am restricted mainly to the shore so weeds and grass are a concern. Also, I fish spinner baits a lot. I am looking at the BPS Crankin Stick when it goes on sale. Those are fast action but people say they have more bend in them. Just one more question. A lower gear ration is preferable for cranking rods?
I went through a bottle of Maker's recently. It was very good. I wanted to do a test so, I bought a bottle of Jim Beam. I only do ice. The Jim Beam was....bourbon.
I drink a lot of Sam Adams. While Bud is beer...it's not Sam Adams. Same (to me) for the bourbon. I like Buffalo Trace. I almost went Knob Creek. I think I will when the Beam is gone. I am certainly liking the testing.
Peacock are sure special here in south Florida. You know almost immediately you have something special hooked when you set the hook on a decent size one. Long crazy runs, airborne flips, and none stop action even when landed. One of the best gamefish anywhere I'm the world.
As a relatively experienced herpetologist, I can tell you that north american skinks and north american lizards in general are not aquatic. Newts and salamanders (amphibians), though not "lizards" in a biological sense closely resemble them and bass certainly cannot tell the difference. They are most certainly prey for bass, and will trigger a reaction strike as an egg eater. But then I have seen a nickel (literally) on a 5/0 gamakatsu outfish lures that cost 100 nickels when bass are in protection mode.
Santa ordered me a 101 Terrova US2/Ipilot Link off Amazon and apparently he's having issues with the vendor. Vendor is not sure what happened and said it's going to be replaced with the new 112lb thrust version at no extra charge, I'm having doubts.
I have a BIG problem believing that any color will give a non-feeding fish an appetite,
or that any color will take away the appetite of an aggressive predator
1) Color rendition underwater is both illusive and highly changeable according to ambient lighting
2) Time spent worrying about color should be devoted to lure depth, lure choice, retrieve speed, boat position,
cast placement, ad infinitum.
Roger
Im right handed, my baitcasters and spinning setups are righty. Retrieving with my left hand feels wrong after so many years reeling with my right hand.
Tried to go lefty, couldn't do it.
