  1. I know this is straying off topic but all this talk about crapping in the woods reminded me of a funny story of when a big group of us went snowmobiling up north and one of the old timers had to stop and do a #2 on the trail, he didn't notice anything wrong until he put his suit back on and noticed something warm in his sleeve.

  3. I'd have to say Clear Lake or Falcon. Tough choice. Baccarac if we are going international.

  4. I'll be down in broward this weekend fishing from 7 to about 5 on Saturday. All my gym workouts this week will be tailored around viscous hooksets using explosive compound movements. I plan to pull lunkers straight out of the water onto the shore in one sweep. Bass, peas, snakes, snook, tarpon, shark, manatee, sunken ships... Nothing is exempt! Its about to get mo' seriouser, Rod warranties may come into play this weekend!

  5. I was talking to the ducks, asking them where the bass were hiding, when I felt eyes on me. Sure enough, while I was concentrating on fishing and the ducks another boat had floated to around 10 yards away and they witnessed the entire event. I just laughed and told them that Donald Duck usually tells me where the fish are hiding. I still talk to the ducks and geese on the water.

  8. As long as you don't put fruit on it I'm not too particular. I like it all. A good thin crust cheese, onion, and pepperoni baked in Hi Salenity's wood fired oven would make me a happy guy. Now I'm hungry and I just finished dinner...

  10. You don't need to spend $200 for a reel to learn on. A $100> will get you a quality reel that you won't "outgrow" as you become more skilled at casting. The round reels have a place in bass fishing but that one has way more line capacity than you need. I suggest a BPS Pro Qualifier on sale which will be under $100. Other possibilities are Shimano Citica, or ABU Revo S to name just a few.

  20. Though I've had success a bit further south, a trip to Falcon Lake would be my choice. I'd be following (OK Stalking) Big-O around trying to locate some of those "Magic Trees". A-Jay

  24. Use whatever you want. It will always be a compromise if you stick with one line, though. That's point of having multiple rigs - not just for technique specific, but to match line for to cover or water conditions. Some guys use nothing but braid, others all copoly. I use several brands and types. Experience has shown me which work work best for what for me.

  25. There are actually plenty of options. The DGIF site is a great resource for public lakes, and they list the regulations for each body of water. For instance.....Sandy Bottom and Trashmore are bank only facilities.......all you need to do is a little bit more research and you will find there are hidden gems. Most if not all have some form of fishing pier to boot. If that fails, then try and make friends with some of the local anglers that have boats or even better, join the bassjons forum down there and become a co-angler. They fish tournaments pretty regularly. Hope that helps Here is the listing of Virginia Lakes on the DGIF site for the Tidewater region of the state.... City of HamptonSandy Bottom Park Pond City of Newport News Lake Biggins Harwood's Mill Reservoir Lee Hall Reservoir Little Creek Reservoir Lake Maury City of Norfolk Burnt Mills Reservoir Lake Prince Lake Smith Western Branch Reservoir City of Portsmouth Lake Kilby Lake Meade City of Suffolk Lake Cohoon Lone Star Lakes Speight's Run City of Virginia Beach Back Bay Trashmore Lake Lake Whitehurst

  26. I doubt the lack of black crankbaits has anything to do with their ability to catch fish, but I'm sure that the manufacturers think they won't catch many fishermen.

  27. Unrelated, somewhat, but when I used to get telemarketer's calls I would answer the phone saying buster's sperm bank, you spank it we bank it. It was a 100% effective, the shock factor that is.

  28. Did you play woods ball or speedball? I played for 11 years made it all the way to the pros played in some NPPL, Xball, WXL, and NPL leagues. It was a blast I would love to get back on a team especially since Rhythm is back and building the strongest team ever. How ever its expensive even when fully sponsored and all you have to pay for is practice paint which we got at field cost of $30 a case of 2000.

  30. Thin crust that isn't crispy with a good sauce that isn't to sweet, not a ton of cheese. I like my pizza plain or with the classic pepperoni but if i am making them on my grill at home i like to add some fresh basil, romano tomatoes, riccota and slices of sweet sausage.

  39. I've been jig fishing for 34 years during which time I have tried d**n near every brand every made. It is my opinion that hands down the *** jigs are absolutely the best. They get hung up 90% less than other brands and 90+% of the time they rotate to hook the bass in the roof of the mouth. There is no other brand that can compare. When I first experimented with them I threw a jig on the floor 10 times and 9 times it landed upright. There are several vids on YouTube that explain their engineering.

  40. James, recently one of the major reel repair firms reported that Abu Garcia, Pfluger, Lew's, BPS, Cabela's and several others all purchase reels from a DoJo Korean reel designer and manufacturing company. They are offered options related to materials, bearing quality, brake configuration, etc. It appears that your budget will limit you to buying one of the Korean originated reels. That's not a bad thing. Chinese originated reels is a bad thing - LOL. I would eliminate any Shimano reels in your price range as they have made some poor modifications over the past few years to their lower to mid-price range reels. Take a serious look at a Pfluger Supreme XT which has the following specs: 9 double shielded stainless steel ball bearings Instant anti-reverse bearing C45 carbon infused side plates, lightweight with unmatched strength Double anodized aluminum handle with EVA knobs Rigid aluminum frame Non-detachable cam locking side plate allows quick break adjustments Retrieve Rate 26" (6.4-1 ratio) Mono Capacity yd/lb 175/10 145/12 100/17 It has monster breaking at 20# while most bait casters average 12#. The centrifugal breaking is very good, the spindle friction adjustment is very good and they are very smooth. I would select the 6.4-1 gear ratio for general use

  44. The majority of the flood control lakes (ponds) are holding really good fish in surprising numbers. Best option for shore - Trashmore. Easy to get to and DGIF has shocked up good fish. North Landing River is a pay to fish (Private property) but good. Suck it up, save some moeny and buy a kayak. Everyone in this area is fixated on the bay. All the better for me. TONS of areas where kayaks are king in the fresh water here. Most boats cannot even get into some really choice areas. Hit me here up if you decide thats what you'd lke to do. Jim in V.B.
