  2. Remember to interview him the sametime he interviews you to see if want to work There. Also ask if they offer any education and a 401k savings plan. Ask about medical coverage too. At onetime I hated interviews but after being out of work in every early recession we had I started having fun interviewing them too. Besides being interested in how they did different things too. Don't forget to learn all you can because when you leave there your knowledge and education you learned leaves with you. I was a class A machine tool builder and on every job I learned something different and a different way to do things that applied to every future job I had. All the on the job training pays off. We actually hone our skills on every job. We're on top of our game experience wise. Every piece of knowledge is like a piece of a puzzle. Always look at the big picture and the future. Good luck. 3. Yes, smoother overall, smoother startup, little less total drag pressure but the revos have plenty to spare. I prefer Cals drag grease.

  6. Caught this nice fish earlier today at the private lake I go to. I was throwing a Yum Dinger and she was sitting right next to a bush right by the bank in about 8 inches of water. 17-18 inches and about 3.75 pounds.

  7. Swag, I wouldn't worry to much about it. Be confident and prepared. It's your first job; it probably won't be the best job and it won't be your last. If you don't get the job take it as a learning experience in preparation for the next interview. Hard work does pay off but so does smart work and use this as on opportunity to reach your next goal whatever that maybe car, fishing crap, college, or helping your family. Best of luck.

  8. 401k is a retirement plan. Some will hire you on the spot. Some will call you. Listen to your gut. If uou don't think your gonna like the job, then either politely decline it or ask them to let you mull it over. Either way, thank them for taking their time to interview you and for showing intrest in you.

  9. What Bigbill said. Take as much knowledge from this as you can. You would be surprised where you can find a use for it later in life. I worked at a Bed Bath and Beyond for a four month stretch after being booted from school. In that four months I moved from receiving to sales. I was brought in to work one night to fill in for a person on the soft goods side of the store. I sold 3 grand worth of bedding and other stuff in a 5 hour period. The next day I was moved to hard goods. I set 3 sales records, for that store, over the next 3 and a half months. I learned so much about sales and how to really hone the craft of it, while there. My manager helped me tremendously with my confidence, and my ability took over from there.

  14. 5 surgeons for various cities were discussing who makes the best patients to operate on. The first surgeon, from New York, says “I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.” The second, from Chicago, responds “Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside is color coded!”. The third surgeon, from Dallas, says “No, I really thing librarians are the best, everything inside is in alphabetical order”. The forth, from Los Angeles, chimes in “You know, I like construction workers…those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over.” But the fifth surgeon, from Washington DC shut them all up when he observed “You are all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. They have no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains, and no spine. Plus the head and a** are interchangeable!”

  15. The #1 thing most bass anglers miss is what the fish are actually doing at that moment. Too many of us (myself included) fish history, or approach a day based on what they think the fish should be doing. Instead... Fish the moment, challenge your hunches, and start each fishing day with a clean slate.

  16. The study of instream hydrology is deep and a topic of doctoral thesis. Go online and find what you are looking. Notice when you flush a toilet the water turns (coriolis effect) counter clockwise in the northern hemisphere. Water flowing in a stream bed also wants to spin counter cockwise, doesn't want to flow in a straight path. The coriolis effect causes stream, rivers, creeks to meander or zig zag disrupting the flow of the water. The shallow water at the edge (toe) of the stream bed flows at a different rate of speed then the deeper water. There is a seam where the slower shallower water meets the deeper faster flowing water, this zone usually has ripples, smooth slower shallow meets faster deeper water. You may be looking at these transition zones. Transition zone seams have little current and for this reason fish prefer to position in these areas. Tom

  18. Caught this extremely large blue catfish on a dropshot while fishing for walleye. Size 1 hook with a 3" gulp minnow, ML-F rod 10lb. test line. This area has some serious current as well, which made for a great battle. Lost another one that broke me off. My scale tops out at 25lbs. Anybody care to guess the weight of this thing? I weigh 210 for comparison. Regardless of the weight, it is by far the biggest catfish I've ever caught. Fish was caught on the Potomac River near Chain Bridge in Washington, DC.

  20. I received my box from Siebert today! 2 compact spinnerbaits, two chatterbaits, 3 swim jigs, 3 arky jigs. They look fantastic! If it wasn't for a sick daughter this week, I'd be on the bank right now.

  21. Yeah I also refer to 4mr as "The Runs", for obvious reasons...

  22. Niiiiiiiice, I caught one that size in the spring right at the airport in 4mr on a small spinnerbait. Those cats in moving water stay a little more svelt, and boy are they fun. I find blues tend to run while channels just spin. One of the reasons I love the Potty is you just never know what you're going to hook. It's probably in the 40+ # range, but it's so hard to tell from photos, especially fish that size.

  23. I can forget about me getting any Christmas presents with all the new rods, New spinning reels, New bait caster reel I purchased these last two months besides all the lures and plastics. I been a bad, bad, man lately. I even purchased over 50 siebert outdoors jigs too. Can we have too much fishing stuff? I don't think so.

  25. Good call, that is a GREAT idea for my boys stocking stuffers a couple jigs a piece, split a pack of trailers between the two of them I also gives me an excuse why I need to order the jigs BEFORE I get my new reel

  26. First, as Paul said, check with your local authorities in your neck of Canada. In Virginia, you can pretty much go anywhere w/a kayak w/o needing a permit (other than fishing permit) unless specified by the "owner" of the body of water. I.e., local reservoirs here require you get either a yearly or per day permit to kayak (and/or fish) on them. So you'd need a fishing license, then a separate permit for kayaking. Before I recommend even buying a "cheap" kayak, I recommend finding a local kayak shop where you can go in, ask questions of the staff, sit in various models, and perhaps even demo some on the water. That's truly the best way to get your feet wet in kayaking. And cheap is relative, so you'd need to specify what kind of money you're thinking here.

  27. It's possible. My PB before this one was longer but this one was fatter. My scale is garbage so I don't use it often and don't have an exact weight on my past or current PBs.

  29. If you are in Canada, it may be different.... In the Southeast, there is no permit required. I would suggest trying a few kayaks if you can to determine what size, style, etc. you like. Craigslist can be a great place to buy a used kayak

  30. In some states, PA is one, you will need a non powered boat permit to use it at any state parks or state owned ramp. If you launch from anywhere else no permit needed. Check with your local boat police website.

  31. I have, and the "over the counter" was not honored by the retailer. I had to deal direct with Shimano anyway. Rod broke on a hookset. Store manager said, and I quote, "I don't care how you broke it, we do not accept over the counter returns for rods. Period." So, as you can see, the mileage on the "over the counter" warranty does vary a bit. Now, a 13 year old (and discontinued) rod with a busted reel seat? Ship it back to St. Croix for $10. Two weeks later, rebuilt rod from the fore grip down. Thanks. I get the same rod I love back, and in the condition it was before it broke. Way better than fighting with a egotistical department manager drone for a replacement.

  32. Holy crap that is huge! I have caught and seen some nice cats on the Patomac but DANG! I can tell you from experience that Gulp minnows and leeches smell like nothing I could imagine! I had a bag leak in my pants pocket once, never will use that again LOL

  33. You must've had your drag set correctly! LOL Awesome fish. I have no idea on weight, did you get a length or girth measurement? I wonder if theres a calculator for blues like we have for bass?

  35. There are several but I don't know how good they are because I haven't fished them. Like Dougie said there is one on Windsor on the south corner of Windsor and 1st street. There is also another one on Brandley across the street from the soccer fields at Parkland (just west of Mattis ave.). If you keep going North on Mattis till you hit Olympian Dr. take a left at the light, there is a undeveloped subdivision that has several ponds on it. There is also Mattis Lake, its off of Prospect on Devonshire Dr.

  39. All I'm saying is I don't mind paying even $100 to have a $250 dollar rod replaced. I'm great flu for what St. Croix did. You just can't please everybody I guess. Even if it is user error, they are doing you the favor of giving you a new one for a small price, seems to me the least you could do is pay the shipping there and back... Beats having to buy a new rod.

  40. Technically, they knew they didn't have enough "free" money to pay for the food. Therefore, in my mind they stole the food. Whether it be from Wal-Mart, the state, the feds, or whoever. They knew good and well they didn't have enough funds and that is why they cleared the shelves.

  41. I have never owned a glass boat, and probably never will, they are just too much $$ for me, so I'll stick with aluminum. BUT I have been around a lot of glass boats, and Rangers are the only glass boats I see that at 15-20 years old are still rock solid. Of coarse it depends on the guy who owns it some, but if I ever buy a used glass boat it will be a Ranger.

  42. I started losing weight in January when I weighed 390#. At the time of my radiation for prostate cancer started I lost 70# by july. I did this by eating one frozen waffle for breakfast, a half sandwich for lunch (tuna in water) mixing mustard with a little mayo. For supper I had half of what I usually ate, no bread. For snacks inbetween I had those 100 calorie bag of cookies or a few pretzels or some fresh fruit. I was allowed a 2,000 calories but I kept it between 1,200/1,400 calories. I lost weight so fast it threw my meds off. I was able to reduce some meds and stop taking other ones. My cancer doctor told me to stop losing weight till my cancer treatments were over. So right now I'm back at it again. When I was logging full time I was never under 290#. My problem was when I took an inside job my appetite stayed. Even though I stayed logging part time. I just wasn't burning up the calories. Now I know what I have to do and stay focused. It's everything in moderation, fresh fruit, tuna w/70 calorie bread. I drink only water no more diet coke. I found this very easy to do. My goal is to lose weight slowly now. I figure another 20# by Christmas and another 25/30# by bass fishing season in the spring. If I can do it anyone can. BigBill

  43. Fall & Spring! Fall: bass leave deep water to feed up for winter Spring: bass leave deep water to feed up for the spawn. Fall: bass follow bait to the back of creeks Spring: bass follow bait to the back of creeks If y'all know Spring breaks/breakline, or feeding areas, y'all know the fall ones to!
