  2. Man.............haven't you been paying attention to these forums for like the last year, the *** is the greatest rod ever gifted apon man. If you don't believe me, ask all the experts here. In fact I personally saw, not one, BUT multiple $100 rods from other brands crumble into dust at the shear whisper of the word "***" when it was used around them. Legend has it, that the people who build Omens eat Carrot Stix for lunch, giving them super powers not seen since...............well, the Carrot Stix were the hand picked rods of the all mighty.

  10. As mentioned above, at your age, you have no identity to steal. It's quite easy to apply for a different SS card with a different number. I'll let you Google it.

  11. Spiral wrapping allows the line to flow on it's natural path, typically allows the use of fewer guides and results in a better performing rod. A bass isn't going to wrench a rod from your grasp, but if you can work with physics instead of against it, why not? The general public just does not accept the non-traditional look of a spiral wrap. One more reason to have your rods built the way you want them.

  18. Well, it finally happened. After a few months of trying I finally landed my first bass! It wasn't the biggest guy in the pond but I'll take it! I was almost ready to call it a day and head back home when I decided to make a few more casts along the bank on my way back to the car. I was throwing a wacky rigged watermelon senko. I had switched to that after being unsuccessful with my split shot worm. Got one fish on but he leaped out of the water and threw the hook. I reeled it back in, slid the worm back on the hook and cast it back out. Soon after it hit the water I saw my line jump to the left and he was taking off with it. I lifted the rod tip and began to reel him in and the rest is history. He was the only one I caught today but it was awesome. I've been teaching myself how to bass fish thanks to this website and glenn's videos. Also got the technique for the senko from roadwarriors guaranteed to catch bass post. I'm really grateful that this site exists. I've learned a lot from reading a bunch of other posts on here. I can't wait to get back out and catch more.

  24. LOL that's why I love it when the kids go . Tyler is 10 and can fish wacky rigged worms and he caught the last one on a swim bait. He is a great caster. Kayla is 8 just learned to cast and she usually fishes with a wacky rigged worm. I think she may have tried a swim bait this weekend but didn't catch anything.

  25. Yeah my two older ones will go sometimes mostly just fishing with bread balls. My youngest is only 2 so she has got some time left. My 9 y/o was just telling me a few days ago that she wants to use different bait to "catch the fish that I catch."

  26. I know Butch is a "legend" and all, I cant discount that or the fish he has caught ..... but from the videos I have seen I don't care for the attitude.

  27. I think sensitivity of high end rods are like the sound from high end speakers, they reach a point where some people hear the quaility while others don't. Some people feel the vibration transmited & others don't. Some people easily learn a Texas rig/Jig bite othets never get it.

  28. Here it is...Magnum jointed claw custom gill For the swimbait guys: This came with a snap, should i fish this bait with or without it?

  30. No one else was confused. Everyone is posting just fine. This time around you are having technical difficulties with your pics.

  31. I was thinking of making one, but Im gonna make it so that every inch is really 1/2". I figure that's the only way we Southern boys are gonna beat those Yankees, lol. Hey Mutt, I really like that. You should seal it so the water and slime coat of the fish doesn't get sucked in. Its bad enough we got people laying the fish in sand, rocks, and everything else that is going to cause harm to the fish eventually. Im just saying.

  35. 6lbs 10oz. Caught during a Thursday evening tournament last year in august, that was lunker for the tournament and part of the bag that gave wnybassman and I the win. BUT... it's only a tie for my PB, I caught another 6-10 in late October 2011

  38. Last year was awesome... The day I fished with Keri we caught 5 different species on the same sandbar on the same crankbait in about 20 casts. Large, small, spotted, drum and a huge blue gill.

  39. I will agree that bass are opportunistic predators and will sometimes bite anything that moves. I will also agree that sometimes going against conventional wisdom can be a winning approach. Having the skill, experience, and confidence to effectively and consistently do things a little differently than everyone else is how champions are made. That only happens, in my opinion, through knowledge and understanding of bass and the tools available to catch them, and then figuring out what works best for you.

  40. There are absolutely no rules in bass fishing, just guidelines. Don't ever forget that!! When you limit yourself to those so called "rules" you will never progress into a better angler. There is one rule though that is absolutely 100% true... And that is time on the water is the only way to become a better angler.. I know I sound like a broken record when saying that but it's the truth. forums like this one are absolutely great for people to get ideas and get started on learning different techniques and such but there is a HUGE difference in reading about it and actually doing it and figuring out all the details involved. One of the biggest mistakes I see alot of novice anglers make is reading all they can about techniques and seasonal patterns and then try and force that information when they are on the water. That's just not how it works! The more time you spend on the water the more you will start to understand bass behavior and the little signs and details that will get you dialed in on the fish. Ok I guess I got a little of topic there lol but

  41. Smaller diameter line has less open spaces between each layer of line, therefore weighs more for a given spool diameter increase in size. 30 lb mono makes good backing, just tape over the filler core to prevent smaller diameter sliding between the larger diameter filler. The tape also prevents the filler from loosening during the cast. You should also put a layer of electrical tape on the spool before spooling on backing, the tape helps the filler from spinning, acts like a friction clutch. Tom
