  1. My wife, daughter, and I go to Disney World every year for a week. Usually fly down from NC for a week or two a year. This coming January we are taking my inlaws too. My father in law and I are doing the bass expedition there for the first time. It is $270 for the both of us for two hours. Includes all tackle, drinks and snacks, a guide (who is the boat driver) and we are on a Nitro. The boat literally picks us up outside if our resort room because we are staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter which is one of the pick up spots. Boat picks us up at 6:45 and we fish from 7-9. :-)

  2. On my trip to Disney last year I took the ferry over to magic kingdom and I happened to see a bass boat in the water. He caught a big ol bass on a jig. He cheered and lifted it over his head like a championship belt. I was the only one in the boat cheering. Lol.

  3. A keen country lad applied for a salesman's job at a city department store. In fact it was the biggest store in the world - you could get anything there. The boss asked him, "Have you ever been a salesman before?" Yes, I was a salesman in the country" said the lad. The boss liked the cut of him and said, "You can start tomorrow and I'll come and see you when we close up." The day was long and arduous for the young man, but finally 5 o'clock came around. The boss duly fronted up and asked, "How many sales did you make today?" "One," said the young salesman. "Only one?" blurted the boss, "most of my staff make 20 or 30 sales a day. How much was the sale worth?" "Three hundred thousand dollars," said the young man. "How did you manage that?" asked the flabbergasted boss. "Well," said the salesman "this man came in and I sold him a small fish hook, then a medium hook and finally a really large hook. Then I sold him a small fishing line, a medium one and a huge big one. I asked him where he was going fishing and he said down the coast. I said he would probably need a boat, so I took him down to the boat department and sold him that twenty foot schooner with the twin engines. Then he said his Volkswagen probably wouldn't be able to pull it, so I took him to the car department and sold him the new Deluxe Cruiser." The boss took two steps back and asked in astonishment, "You sold all that to a guy who came in for a fish hook?" "No," answered the salesman "He came in to buy a box of Tampons for his wife and I said to him, 'Your weekend's shot, you may as well go fishing.'"

  4. This is something I feel VERY strongly about. Get the hook out. Period. If you kill it doing so, then take it and eat it. Otherwise, any thought that it will dissolve, pass through their system, or somehow miraculously fix itself is myth. Remove the hook. The ONLY time I leave a hook in is when I am keeping them in the live well and they are hooked in the tongue. In that case, I leave it there, and remove it just before weigh in. I usually end up eating those rare fish as well.

  5. False, false false. Get the hook out. I've caught several bass over the years with a hook lodged in their throat. Food cannot pass through, and they were very skinny. Always remove the hook! Be prepared. Here is how to do it: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12981-how-do-i-remove-a-hook-a-bass-has-swallowed/page-2

  7. Occasionally ill get bass that swallow the hook (when im using live bait). I read the article about getting out a hook from the gut through the gills but some of the fish are small and the gills wont allow me to get at the hook. If so, Ill then work at the hook with forceps if it looks like I might be able to get it without hurting the fish, sometimes this works but other times if it is a nice bass, Ill just cut the line close to the hook. Im just wondering what will happen to the fish? Will the hook rust out or stay in there forever? Will the hook allow the fish to eat properly? Ive also caught a few with hook in them already and they looked healthy so I guess they live most of the time, right? I just feel bad for the fish sometimes

  10. One of the best Archie Bunker episodes from All in the Family. For you young guns, All in the Family was a TV show that featured Archie Bunker and his family and attacked the social issues of the day with humor and intelligence. Enjoy! http://laughloudtoday.blogspot.com/2013/04/archie-bunker-gets-private-area-shaved.html

  12. I did it twice once in 07 and just last January. I was not disappointed at all, a lot of fish caught on different lures. Disney in 07 taught me to love spinnerbaits! The guides were super to be with and they really enjoy fishing with guys who know how to fish. One word of advice, bring your own reel and switch out the one they give you. You'll be happy you did.

  18. 7 fish today. Best 5 went 8 pounds, so nothing huge. Caught them in heavy cover with 3/8 green pumpkin jig with rage baby craw trailer, 7" smoke senko and black/blue Texas rigged rage craw. Mix of colors and profiles. Best fish (3 pounds) was on the big fat senko. They slam that big thing. Even my most careful pitch sometimes makes a small splash with these things. They are so long and heavy, they land funny in the water. I probably spook some fish, but that bait makes 'em angry. You don't need to worry about tight lines - they jerk the rod out of your hands. I learned about this bait from other people on the water who were using them.

  21. My rudder I built on page 59 worked out really well. I had zero problems with the boat drifting sideways or spinning. It was the most enjoyable day I've had since I got my little boat. The boat tracked really straight even here in Oklahoma with a 20mph wind that day. My rudder design freely swings up and down, it stayed down in the water and would raise up over some vegetation that I got into in the shallows.

  23. I have some outfits from back in the 80's even, at the time I was delighted and they were as good as it got back then, today I use them with the grandkids for catfish and the river, they still work good, in a branch stuck in the ground to hold them!!! The older I get the more I appreciate the help with lighter!! and at the same time stronger!

  25. That's a hard question to answer. I have both and heavier jigs, cranks and plastics felt like it overloaded the reel. Made a harsh buzzing sound when I made a cast. I use it now for top water and small jerk bait flukes etc and it feels perfect. It palms really well too. That said, the 200 size is hard to beat too. It's only 3/4oz heavier and feels really good in my small hands too

  36. First and foremost, pre fish the lake you are going to have the tournament on. With some well spent time on the water beforehand you can set a loose plan of attack for the "big day." Be nice and cordial to everybody and don't be cocky. Ask questions pertaining to the tournament rules but don't ask questions pertaining to what lures to use and where to fish.Don't believe much of what you hear before the tournament starts regarding techniques that are catching fish or the size of fish being caught. Some of the best anglers I fish against are notorious for spreading false information and playing head games before, during, and after tournaments. Set realistic goals and don't plan on getting rich solely from tournaments. Keep a positive attitude throughout the day. Even if you haven't caught your limit, or any fish, and theres only 10 minutes left in the tourney all it takes is a couple minutes and you can fill your livewell quickly. Withing the last 10 minutes of two different club tournaments this year I boated my biggest fish and those fish are the ones that propelled us to a divisional championship. As the lunatic Ike says, "NEVER GIVE UP!"

  37. I can't help it, I'll shop them all, and I'll buy from all of them. I think that here in the KC Metro area we are blessed, with 2 BPS stores, 1 Cabelas, multiple Dicks outlets and an outstanding independent tackle store (Rogers Lures in Liberty, MO). Together they keep each other fairly honest, price wise. At different points during the year, each one of them have decent sales.

  38. Now that's devotion. You are da man and you get the Award of The Year for Guts and Glory. Believe me, I would have cut the line and wished that bass all the best. I don't like snakes or snake infested areas and also avoid all poison ivy and oak. Only animal missing from your story was an alligator which we don't have in Virginia.

  39. Quite an ordeal indeed. I had a bait suspended inches above the water once also. A little bass decided to strike and connect with my lure. So now I had a suspended bass over the branch which caught the attention of a big gator. After several attempts and the gator barreling its way toward the little bass, the branch broke off and I was able to quickly reel the bass in and avoid it from being an appetizer.
