  1. but I might for a Pa 7lb'r. I stopped at a Gander Mt. on my way home from vacation in NC and snapped this shot of their Wall of Fame. I asked if he was signing autographs in the fishing section but they said he was out on the water chasing hawgs. Made my day during a very long drive.

  3. My PSA was at 8.0 when my 45 treatments of radiation started. Right now a month after the treatments ended my PSA is now at .02 I'm a very lucky guy. Now I can go fishing soon. For all you guys out there get this blood test to check your PSA. This prostate cancer is hitting the younger men too. Early detection is the key to survival. Now I know how something feels inside a microwave. But I have a new life now. I have a second chance. Everyday I want to go bass fishing. I just spent a lot of money on fishing equipment that I want to try to wear out soon. If you have your health enjoy it. Live life to the fullest. Remember to take a kid fishing. God bless, bigbill

  4. Thanks for the kind words, Beverly, and I really wanna see you turn this around. I think if you keep fishing 'em, you'll get bit here real soon. Also, if the slower horizontal fall of the Senko is getting you fish, try the Craw on a keel-weighted hook, and work in the same areas. Let me know if I can help with anything else. Ps- the 5/0 is perfect for the Craw. I use the Moaners with the screw lock, so I go a touch bigger with the 5, but a regular 4/0 without a screw lock is also fine.

  6. UPDATES ON STITCH: 19 HRS AGO This will be short I just wanted to let you know that the surgery is over and everything went as the dr expected. We have not seen he yet . Later today I will fill you in on the details thanks for all your prayers they worked. Kit 12 HRS AGO Stitch got out of surgery around 2:00 but we did not see him until 5:00. He was in a lot of pain and did not like the vent. Tubes comming out of his neck and 3 in his back. They did not have to piece it together with part if his intestines which was good. The nurse told me they were taking out his vent and she would come and get us when they were done. On the way back to see him when the vent was out the nurse said she had a surprise for me. I walked into the room and stitch was sitting in a chair and very much awake. He has back pain but he is getting meds for that. When we left he was getting ready to watch the ball game. We still have a long way to go but he made it through the surgery so one day at a time. I had our three girls and their husbands with me and I couldn't have been more grateful. My sister and niece also came our family is so supportive I couldn't have done it without them. Thank you family. We will see what tomorrow brings but am hoping for a good day. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and concern I can't tell you how much it means to us. Kitt THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!! HANG IN THERE BUD! WE WILL ALL BE PRAYING FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!! Jeff

  10. I have been following a thread in the southeast bass fishing section and really want to get one started for us up north. Its a friendly competition, the person with biggest 5 fish (by length) wins. The florida thread has been doing it by month which seems to working well, and because its pretty much august why not do it that way. So for your fish to count, a photo of the fish must be taken laying on the tape measure, yard stick, whatever you use to measure your fish. The area restraint will be New England (all fish must be caught in NE to count), so anyone who wants to participate just give a reply saying that you are going to do it. Just so I know I'm not posting fish and I'm the only who doing it, LOL. It will start today and go to the last day in august (only fish caught in this time frame will count for the competition, just be honest) so start catching and posting, lets have some fun!!! Here's the southern thread if anyone wants to check it out http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/121112-florida-bragging-rights-take-3-july-1st-31st/page-1 -Make all your posts in this thread, questions, suggestions, and your fish (Please try to post fish within a day or two of it being caught, thanks) EDIT: If your state is listed under the northeast bass fishing forum then you may participate. Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont

  11. I was visiting my local tackle shop who sent today that they were having no tax on rod and reels sales. I had no idea they had these on stock was furthest from my mind. Until my guy I usually speak to there says, hey man did you see the new Chronarch? I was like WHAT? You have it in? He said yep, we have 3 in stock just got them. OH MAN! I WAS SO EXCITED! I had to check it out and HOLY WOW! Is all I can say, this thing looks freakin' awesome. Feels awesome, even though it's a 150 it feels so light and it felt like it was a size "50" reel. I didn't have my cash today, so I asked them to hold it for me until tomorrow! So I'm going to be a proud owner of a new Chronarch CI4+. I got the 7.6.1! Anyone else see them yet or purchased one? Perfect timing too, I'm going up north for a week (cottage) to get a lot of fishing. So hopefully I will have a nice review for everyone of my experience.

  12. Lake Okeechobee was good to me today. After a lifetime of close calls I finally broke the glass ceiling with my personal best bass weighing in at close to 10 3/4#'s. The bite was red hot in the Kissimmee grass near Kramer Island. My client got a fish close to 7 #'s and before this big girl exploded on my top water swim bait(Gambler Big EZ). I was using a Chronarch 200e7 with a Hawg Handle on a Fitzgerald Rod and 50# Tuff Line.

  15. 60 yards more or less is all you will ever use. That does not mean the reel should not be filled though. I use backing on all of my reels and top off with my line of choice. A full reel, whether spinning or baitcast will perform better than one half full.

  16. Yeah the 805 flip will work just fine as a swimbait rod if that is what you want. It doesn't have to say "swimbait" on it haha. One of my swimbait rods is a big flipping stick and I use it as much as the 795 and 806. As far as how light you can go, my buddy throws half ounce swim jigs a mile on his 807, we put swimbaits on as trailers though which usually puts them at an ounce for our smallest ones and he has no problem with that. The 806 is a bit softer than the 807 so you could definitely get down to an ounce with it no problem. The 806 is really suited towards trebled baits on the large ende but has no problem sinking the smaller jig hooks

  17. Thank you Felix. And you are absolutely correct and that is a very good point. Never thought about the co-angler aspect.

  18. You know Dobyns does make an 805 right? That being said I have a 795 and an 806 I love both of them you should be happy with either of them.

  19. Rope, 80lb braid, is what I use for musky lures in that weight range. Tie a good knot and don't get overconfident with the brakes and you shouldn't have to worry about losing baits with birdsnests

  20. Awesome article! As a co-angler I find this even more important if that is possible. Why? Because you need to take advantage of what the boater doesn't see make the most of those opportunities. In two tournaments this year it made all the difference in the world in my placement.

  24. I never let having cancer bother me. I stayed very positive all the way thru it. I was very shy during the radiation treatments when they started it was the tech gals who made relax and saved me from walking out. They all are awesome and so nice and understanding. I had no choice to survive or not my life was in the hands of our creator in the end. I guess all the prayers worked. I'm enjoying the new 3yo grandson once he calms down we'll take him fishing soon. I hope he becomes my sidekick. I'm in charge of buying him toys while all my family members are stoking his college fund. God bless, bigbill Btw, Having the new kindle fire HD got me through the rough times between being in touch with everyone plus having the Pandora music and the games. It really kept me busy.

  25. Shane: Thank you for the input on Rage Craws. I have been using a smaller hook. The 5/0 hooks that I own look like they would not be usable with a rage craw. They seem too long, almost like the hook would be longer than the body of the craw. But I will give it a try. I have been using a 1/4 oz. weight, rather than 3/8, so I will try upsizing. But otherwise, I am doing what you are saying. It isn't working. I will fish this way for 30 minutes or so with no activity, when I have marked some fish with the Humminbird. I will switch over to a drop shot with a gulp minnow, maybe 12 inches above the weight, or a wacky rigged senko and right away catch a couple of smaller fish. So I know they are down there, but they are not biting the rage craw. I have been hoping to attract the larger fish with this bait. Sick of catching bass less than a pound. Anyway, no luck at all with the Rage Craw. Maybe my retrieve approaches are just not right. I have tried fishing this lure over some rocks in shallow water, so I can see how the lure moves and try to make it look realistic. People on this site will say to forget about senkos or drop shot, because they are "idiot" techniques, and you don't learn how to catch fish with the "real" presentation until you work with them. But every time I try this I get skunked. When I go back to senkos or drop shot, at least I catch something. But no size. This happened two years ago, when I made a concerted effort to work with the Rage Smokin Rooster on a keel weighted swimbait hook. I caught fish on my first two casts with the lure. Then I have gone two years without a single hit on the the bait. I don't know why, but I just don't get bit on any of the Rage product line. I will keep trying. Maybe I am missing something. Anyway, thank you for the help. You are a fantastic fisherman, and you are generous with your advice. We all owe you a debt for the help you offer to us.

  27. I fish Mille Lacs several times a year......The general rule is , find the rocks and you will find the smallies.....You may pick up a few here and there away from the rocks, but, you'd be be well served to focus on any rocks you can find.....Jigs or tubes fished on or near the bottom , and a topwater pattern are worth a try.

  28. I caught a few today. I spoke to one of the bass over a cup of coffee. We chatted and he said they don't like the fake stuff so they spit it out. Sometimes they don't realize that they are fake and then they get hooked he said. As for pain, he said they don't feel anything. After a few crazy stares at Starbucks, I took him back to the lake and we parted ways.

  34. Beverly, While there are a million different ways to fish a Rage Craw, and catch fish, here's the one thing you need to do with it right now. Rig a Rage Craw (I'd start with a Falcon Craw, Watermelon Red, or Green Pumpkin Purple Gold, depending on cloud cover and water clarity) on a 5/0 heavy wire hook, peg a 3/8oz tungsten weight to it, and go fish your off shore ledges, channels, rock piles, and brush (deeper structure). When you get to your spot, come in quiet, and lay a nice silent pitch in there. Let it fall on a TIGHT line until it reaches the bottom. From there, you will have to feel it out, and decide if they want a slow drag, a hop, yo yoing, or whatever. They will eat it if the fish are there.

  35. On their wedding night, the young bride Approached her new husband and asked For $20.00 for their first lovemaking Encounter. In his highly aroused state, Her husband readily agreed. This scenario was repeated each time they made Love, for more than 40 years, with him thinking that it was a Cute way for her to afford new clothes and other incidentals that She needed. Arriving home around noon one day, she was Surprised to find her husband in a very drunken state. During the next few minutes, he explained that His employer was going through a process of corporate Downsizing, and he had been let go. It was unlikely that, at the age of 59, he'd be able to find Another position that paid anywhere near what He'd been earning, and therefore, they were financially ruined. Calmly, his wife handed him a bank book which Showed more than forty years of steady deposits and interest totaling Nearly $1 million. Then she showed him certificates of deposits issued By the bank which was worth over $2 million, And informed him that they Were one of the largest depositors in the bank. She explained that for more than Three decades she had 'charged' him for sex, These holdings had multiplied and these were the Results of her savings and investments. Faced with evidence of cash and investments Worth over $3 million, her husband was so astounded he could Barely speak, but finally he found his voice and blurted out, 'If I'd had any idea what you were doing, I would have given you all my business!' That's when she shot him.

  37. I dont know what to tell you Bassman, I love em, I fish them weightless a lot, as well as keel weighted. redish, blueish, greenish, as well a my favorite pearl white. I do fish other things, Popr (3 sizes) , spook (usually with noisemakers inside), spinners (colorado blades), buzzbaits , jitterbugs (black , usually only at night) ,flatfish (black , silver, white , orange , usually only the large ones) Throw them weightless / weedless onto the heavy weeds, Throw them right in the middle andThe craw and babycraw is sit right on top of weeds, drag them slowly across, when you get to the edge of the weeds just let them free fall. Rage lobster is larger and heavier , usually breaks thru the weeds and sinks. a different effect so i usually go smaller. I have great luck with them weightless. as well as on the bottom. senda PM to Shane J , ask him. The man knows his stuff and has helped me a lot. The ragetail site has lots of good rigging too. As well as assorted other rubber stuff, Rage Hawg, Space monkey, Lizard , chunk , etc.. cannot tell you why they are not working for you.

  40. I fish the Susquehanna and Juniata rivers a good bit, what you discovered is what happens a lot in rivers and that is the fish tend to move a lot. I was on the Juniata 2 weeks ago and we only managed 12 fish but most were over 14" with 2 other them over the 20" mark. Check your weather and find the NOAA website and look to see if you can find the stream gauge for the water you fish, look to see if the water is falling, rising, or holding steady, you will be able to tell as a solid line represents what the water was and currently is at followed by a dotted line showing the prediction, you can usually tell what the river is going to do 4 to 5 days in advance. If the water was falling and the weather is hot look for the fish to move away from slack or slow moving water and into deeper riffles, the riffles are important this time of year in shallow rivers as that is where the most oxygenated water is going to be, also look to deeper pools but only the ones with an eddy forming directly above or below as there has to be an area where food will get brought in but still have a place for the fish to lay without fighting current. If the water is rising due to rains look toward the deep cut banks, and where shallow meets deep with any type of current break such as a boulder, deadfall, or eddy but most times they will move to the bank. I hope this helps, good luck.

  42. What are you looking for help with? Bass fishing I found to be one or the most expensive and endless things out there: there are rigs, poles, reels, lines, baits, lures, scents, glasses, ect that are endless. If you are new to bass fishing my biggest tip to you is YOU DON'T NEED EVERY BAIT YOU SEE ON TV THAT CATCHES A FISH. That's how I thought It was and I spend way to much money on things that I don't use. Find what types of baits and techniques you use and become proficient at those. A lot of people say bass fishing is all about you ability to adapt to conditions which I agree with, but don't go out and spend 500 on a loomis drop shot rod to find you don't like drop shot or they don't work well in the waters you fish. Glad to see you entered the BR family and welcome. Hope to see some good replies of fish you caught.

  44. "What is the best..." is the most popular topic on the Forum by a large margin. Generally, but not always, the question comes from a new member and often someone who is also new to fishing. The easiest response, especially from Moderators, is to direct the inquiry to one of the other 100 threads addressing the same topic that have been posted this month! For some of our seasoned members it seems pretty redundant, so what happens is that those that are most enthusiastic tend to respond. For the fisherman asking the question, it's important and fresh information. Does anyone want to know what line I might recommend for spinning tackle? The fishing industry is very competitive which leads to constant innovation and product improvement. Although we don't seem to be generating a big following for Pinnacle, their upper end rods and reels are comparable to any of the top brands. My Optimus XLT ($199.99) performs every bit as well as the Curado E series. Give that a try if you want to Start a new posse! Which brings up the Shimano Posse. In "unscientific polls" here at BassResource.com, Shimano reels generally are favored by +/-60% of the respondents vs. the field. As a result, responses to "What is the best reel" are going to be slanted that way. The biggest issue, I think, is butting into a unrelated thread. I have specifically asked members of The Posse to stay away from other peoples threads. If the topic Is Abu Garcia only or Abu verses Lew's, comments suggesting a Shimano alternative are not wanted. Back on point...Many people are loyal to their brand because of their positive experience with the product or a combination of issues with competing companies. I wish someone would have helped me years ago rather than experimenting through trial and error. I hope the advice on this forum helps all fisherman, new and "used", save some precious money and catch bigger fish. I like to think we all can gain from the experience of others.
