  1. All I'm gonna say is that both are critical in maximizing your fishing techniques and presentations. If you refuse to learn or want to use one or the other, then you're selling yourself short and are missing out on tons of opportunities. You should master both.

  3. Me and my dad frequently fish the local mill pond together - he throws Watermelon green Shim E Sticks and I throw green pumpkin senkos. Guess who catches more? Depends on the day, my friend. Depends on the day. My point is, they both catch like crazy. Put either of them in a fish's face and they will slam it. They both have their strengths, so it comes down to user preference. Inch for inch, the Yamamotos are noticably heavier and cast farther. The Shim E Sticks are more endurant and quite a bit less expensive. I like them both, and Yum Dingers, too.

  5. The guy has been given a ticket for the violation. Pretty much a slap on the wrist and a fine. Good thing is, the canoe outfitters/campground owners that are on the two streams he posted pictures on have been notified and are keeping an eye out for this guy and won't allow him to use their facilities anymore

  6. Well, since you are going to talk to them ask if they need an East Coast swimbait guy with a jon boat as a product tester. I know a guy...

  9. I agree that competition definitely adds or creates emotions. Just like most of us, if I am driving far and spending some dough on gas.... i would definietly be ticked. I like seeing the competitiveness out of us. I believe it's what drives us to learn and better ourselves. At the end of the day, make sure we all enoy the sport. It is meant to relax us at times.... or a reason to escape from the house.

  10. I agree with everything you said. I love this thread and use it as a good source of information. I'm glad that all of use on here are open to sharing our successes as well as short comings. Baits, techniques, etc have all been useful to not only myself but I'd bet basically all of us. I'm surprised other people from other areas haven't followed this threads lead. Just goes to show us Florida anglers are a different breed of fishermen. It's cool how numerous people have linked up to do some fishing together and sharing our spots. When I take that south FL trip I look forward to fishing with you Lou and fstr

  11. Fox Chain 7-12 Got some good bites today, and some not so good ones. In addition to the pics we got a few short keeper bass and a few more short bass. Water 78*-83* Swimjigs and soft plastics were the baits of choice. Bite completely died after 11:00. Both the trash fish were caught on swimjigs. The walter in the mouth and the carp in the tail. The carp weighed in at 12lb. I'm guestimating 6 on the walleye. She was bleeding from the mouth and it took a few minutes to revive her but she swam away full force. My sons bass was over 4.

  15. I´m 49, I´ve been fishing since I was 9, 4 decades, wow !, looking at it from that perspective ....... man I´m getting "old" and what I do ? well, I go FISHING , where it´s guaranteed in the word you will be catching fish ? You go out there and try to catch fish in a way that by no means gurantees you´ll catch them. That´s why it´s called "fishing" and not called "catching fish" Certainty when fishing is that sometimes you will catch fish and sometimes you won´t, life is too short to bother about not catching fish ( getting skunked ), better enjoy you were doing something you like ---> fishing. There are a lot of satisfactory and enjoyable things in fishing.

  16. I fish because it's relaxing and therapeutic. I get away from the stress of work and life in general to enjoy some peace and quiet on the water or on the shore. I think if ever starts to frustrate me I will need to step back and reevaluate what I'm doing.

  17. When I first started it was easy to use the "I'm a noob" excuse and not get frustrated. As I gained more experience I would get frustrated if I happened to get skunked. At some point though I realized that I wasn't taking the opportunity to learn from my mistakes. Not only did I begin improving much quicker but I found I was getting skunked a lot less. I swear that fish can sense stress through my rod, into the line and on the bait. LOL

  18. I am the opposite actually. By myself I usually am big bait/big fish fishing and can go without a fish. When I have someone with me and somehow we get skunked I am mad as I was supposed to put them on fish.

  19. Awesome job. I got my first jig bass this year as well, but it certainly wasn't a 6 pounder! How I would've loved that!

  20. The great debate... super lines verses mono and others.... I know the sayig is... the "leader" is good because it helps keep the line invisible so to speak from the targeted fish... but... what gets me is your sacrificing the super line because your tying on a weaker leader. Yes it helps keep the line hidden but at what cost? Ive tried the leader on my super line... (Nanofil) an it does make a difference... but I've also noticed that from time to time.. the leader will break , be it on a hook set, or while fighting a decent size fish, to me losing even one fish because of a leader breaking is not acceptable. So why not just use a higher strength mono or floro? Most of my gear has Berkley big game on it.. and I have about the same amount of breaks with that as I do the super line with a leader.. so why spend that extra $$ on something that is doing the same as the cheaper priced line???

  23. For "moving" lures the retrieve is much smoother. I use light line on spinning tackle, heavier line (thicker diameter) on baitcasting gear.

  28. For me, flouro " feels " better. This may sound odd but braid can provide a false positive if that makes any sense. I hate leaders. I don't break off fish. Punchin is a different animal though.

  30. A medium scrubbie pad, a healthy dose of liquid soap, and some warm (not hot) water. From past experience, it is much easier with the hooks REMOVED. Either remove them from the lure or you will be removing them from your hand!

  31. While not a very popular bait, a friend of mine LOVES banjo minnows for pike. We used to try to see if the craziest lure you had in your box would catch a pike and they all did. Homer Simpson crankbaits, beer can crankbaits, even Dancing Eel lures caught pike.

  34. ^Yep^.......... 3 rd.......It's also much easier to untangle a leader from treble hooks than braid.

  35. If it works for you, don't worry about it. The pros use heavy line because each fish is important to their livelihood -- it's not just fun fishing for them. They also fish in places where they can catch huge bass, which you may not. Finally, a lot of the choice for line size is because of the hookset. Thast's often when the most force is applied to the line.

  37. Not too mention we have a wave coming in this weekend thats going to dump rain like crazy all over the state. They dont stop eating late you just have to hunt them down, in fact the big fish eat in the middle of the day, yes even in the summer.

  38. I think a lot of it is that some just want to say they use 50, 65,80# test. I cant get myself to go higher than 20# braid dont even use IT that much. I throw spro frogs with 10# braid got my pb with it out of thick slop and over a 20'+ fallen branch. Ive brought in huge weedmats, fish too, with just 15# braid.

  39. Your post is completely inaccurate. Being a business owner, I'm aware of lawyer fees and everything else associated with running a business. With that said, your "assumptions" have zero credibility considering you started your post with "I'm sure...". That means you don't know....so don't assume. Back to the topic, the Koppers bait is in a 3 dimensional mold. It's not painted. That is the major difference between the "original" designer and what Koppers has produced. They took it a step further than a paint job. Look at the isles at Bass Pro or wherever you shop. EVERYTHING is some sort of copy or rendition of something else already done whether it was last years innovation or 50 years ago. There are literally 1000's of the same type of bait with different labels, colors, scents to make them "original" or "unique". If you think you have a million dollar idea, you best get it patented and protected. Even if you don't have the funds to do it yourself, someone out there will BUY your idea.

  40. There are already comments of people saying LiveTarget stole this idea from so and so. Well if it is a stolen idea, why didn't the originator get it patented and licensed? It's the same locker room gossip every year. This new baitball is a neat concept, but nothing WOW's me about it. I love LiveTarget from cranks to frogs. I think they make amazing stuff. I'll be interested to see what else they have but this isn't a game changer in my eyes.

  45. All I do is bank fishing so I think I can help. I would get some greens, browns and some blue/blacks. I only use North Star jigs. I prefer the black series flipping jigs and flip n swim, swim jigs. The colors I would grab are Brown Craw, Froger, black n blue and Insanity in the black series. I use rage craws in falcon lake for the brown craw, watermelon red for the frogger, black n blue flake for the black n blue and candy craw for the insanity. For the flip n swims I like Mistake (black blue red), salsa, new gill and a custom color Chris made I call Crappie. For trailers I use all Berkely Havoc Sub Woofers in Plum for the Mistake, watermelon red for the salsa, Alabama craw for the new gill and smoke black flake for my crappie jig. If you want some pictures of the jig and trailers let me know. I'm on my phone so it will have to be later for the Picts. I only use 1/2 oz weight in all my jigs.
