  10. RW, This is only my opinion but I bet it is shared by many on this site. Your constant pushing of forum sponsors has a reverse effect on me than what you're going for. When you deviate from the thread to mention a sponsor, it seems less sincere and meaningful. Again, just my opinion. The OP was looking for help on a particular product, yet you find a way to slip in a plug. There is a difference between $4.99 Reel Grips and an $80 handle which does look like a great product, just different . To the OP, I have the Reel Grips on my PQs and CuradoEs but keep them off my ProLite Finesses and Johnny Morris Carbonlite. The latter 2 reels have foam grips which I prefer to the Reel Grips. You can find them in color combos to suit any of your needs and they do make it easier to handle when the reel gets wet.

  12. I just realized this is my 10th year working with Gary Yamamoto Custom baits. That is getting pretty rare in this industry. I also just realized this is my 9th year coming to Bass Resource. So much has changed on BR since I have been coming here. The format is entirely different and there are WAY more members here now. Great place to learn and meet new friends for sure.

  15. I love my Patriarch XT and my Zillion. Recently received a Premier, but won't be able to fish it for awhile. It wasn't that long ago that there were a good many people posting that the Premier was one of the best all-around reels out there. This was after they came out with the Gen 2 model.

  17. Pike will eat your shoe sole if you throw it there. They are very aggressive so anything on the faster side of bass fishing works well. Cranks, spinners, spoons, topwater. One other big producer for me is hollow body swimbaits or hard swimbaits. There are so many up here it gets annoying.

  20. I too like p-line fluroclear in the tint green color. I fine it gas good abrasion resistance is strong and ismsignifancantly less expensive than pure flurocarbon. I use to use pure fluro (Seagar, trilene. Etc.) but I see no noticeable difference with the fluroclear

  21. I understand where you're coming from and for years I've hoped for the same thing. But in the last few years we've had some abnormally warm early weather and the rest of the year is often screwed up; not necessarily fishing only, but other things in nature. So I've changed and mainly hope for normal weather, if there is such a thing anymore.

  22. Depends a little on the outdoor temp but in general... In winter = 71 While awake steps down to 65 then 62 while sleeping. In summer = 72 or 73 while awake. Steps down to 70 or 71 while sleeping. Funny that you mention this as I posted the same thing several years ago. Glenn mentioned at the time that never in his wildest dreams when he made BassResource.com did he think that this subject would ever come up. I also came up with the toilet paper over or under thread!

  27. I'll take a couple of 45 degree weeks, just to start getting into the swing of things. We had a early spring last year and then a hard freeze. Killed all of the apple and cherry crops. So I'm looking for a more gradual increase in temps this year. Don't get me wrong 60's would be great, just not now. Plus here in Michigan we can't even legally fish for Bass until April.

  28. I fish clear strip mine pits and my favorite lure over the years on calm sunny days has been a wacky rigged 4"watermelon colored yum dinger. One the other rod i will tie something faster moving like a 3"watermelon colored grub rigged on a 1/8 oz jig head .i use 10# power pro braided line in moss green color with a 6# floro leader.I rarely shore fish anymore since buying a kayak but i would think you would have better luck shore fishing with a chop on the water or overcast rainy days so the bass are roaming more and not so spooky, night fishing is great on clear water also. Don't be scared to throw the kitchen sink in clear water on because i have caught bass on all kinds of lures and all kinds of colors but on flat, calm, sunny days (which can be tough) i always go with my two favorites i mentioned above.

  29. Ole and Lars who worked together were both laid off, so off they were to the unemployment office. Asked his occupation, Ole said, "Panty stitcher. I sew the elastic onto cotton panties." The clerk looked up panty stitcher. Finding it classified as unskilled labor, she gave Ole $300 a week unemployment pay. Lars was asked his occupation. "Diesel fitter," he replied. Since diesel fitters was a skilled job the clerk gave him $600 a week. When Ole finds out he is furious. He stormed back to find out why Lars, his friend and co-worker was collecting double his pay. The clerk explained, "Panty stitchers were unskilled and diesel fitters were skilled labor." "What skill?" yelled Ole. "I sew the elastic on. He pulls on it and says, 'Yep, diesel fitter.'"

  31. Cozart is definately going to start at short, he played well in his first full season last year. He's a decent hitter, fine defender, and still a fairly young player who I'm sure the Reds expect to improve next year. The Reds organization seems to be firmly of the opinion that Hamilton is still a raw player. Even with an excellent Spring, no way IMO will Hamilton push Cozart, and I think the Reds want to develop Hamilton as a CF anyway. I'd be very surprised to see him up from the minors for any real length of time this year. Of course, injury can always play a factor.

  32. You're welcome. Maybe if you're not getting hits on what you are already using, change colors. Can't go wrong with natural colors. The more blended in the bait is, the better.

  36. Well, if you buy anymore, get the 12" version. The biggest catch in professional tournament fishing was 132.8 lbs caught exclusively on a 12" Mann's Jelly Worm. Mann's 12" Jelly Worm The No.1 selling worm of all time Used by professional and novice anglers alike Often effective when other baits fail First introduced in 1967, Mann’s Jelly Worm remains the No. 1 selling worm of all time and for good reason. Mann’s "Jellies" helped Paul Elias claim the all-time BASS four-day weight record of 132-1/2 lbs. and serious anglers continue to use them to put more bass in their boats. Veteran and novice baitcasters alike need to reserve a place in their tackle boxes for these worms to improve chances of success when the fish are finicky. The 12" size us designed specifically to target trophy bass. Per 10. Size: 12". Colors: (001)Blackberry, (003)Blueberry, (005)Black Grape, (007)Grape, (009)Strawberry, (011)Watermelon Red.

  38. It would be hard to go wrong with the FJ. For a lighter reel the CI4 is one of the best options. A solid list of reels you have noted but I would say the stradic reels are bit better overall and built very well.

  39. My current position is Senior Software Engineer, I work for Citrix in S.FL. right now. I've been programming since I was 8-yo so it naturally became a profession :-) I've done contract coding in college, then computer forensics and data recovery (NDCI), worked on Wall Street writing software for derivatives trading (Imagine Software), then I spent 3.5 years developing distributed database engines (from scratch, C++, unix) and corresponding ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines, and worked with police to help them catch child predators online (TLO). I'm a systems guy, always coding for the back-ends/servers, the kind of code that users never really see. My specialty is C++, OO, high performance stuff. Also did real time 3D graphics for game engines as a hobby for 15 years and almost ended up working for a game company (think Mortal Kombat :-) ). Now at Citrix working on Windows 8 mobile stuff, can't say much though, NDA and all... all in all, my hobby became my passion which became my job :-) M.

  41. Im a delivery driver for Dominos. I also make the pizzas. Im kind of the man at my store. Im quicker on my deliveries, I make better looking pizzas than the 2 assisstant managers and Im the highest paid driver even though pretty much everyone else has been there at least 6 months longer than me. Sometimes Ill be making 2 pizzas at once while telling my manager what toppings go on a certain specialty pizza. Its kind of sad sometimes. I swear that store would fall apart without me and I think they know it. Thats why when I mentioned I was looking for another job, they basically threw money at me. I know its only Dominos but if Im gonna delivery pizzas, Im gonna strive to be the best delivery driver I can be. That all may have sounded sort of arrogant but hey, its not arrogance if its true.

  46. I love to fish new lakes. It gives me great personal pride when I go to a new or rarely fished lake and have success. The first thing I look at when I get to any lake is the water clarity. This gives me an idea of what color and type of lure I'm going to use. It also gives me an idea of how big or small the strike zone is. Muddy - Dark colored jigs with rattles and dark plastics with good vibration like Rage Tail, loud spinnerbaits or crankbaits. The strike zone is going to be very small requiring multiple, very accurate casts to visible or known cover. You can get away with fishing close and making shorter casts. Stained- Dark or natural opaque colored plastics, Willow leaf spinnerbaits in white and charturse and shad colored crankbaits with rattles. A larger strike zone allows you to cover water a little faster and find fish then slow down and work the area with a confidence lure of your choice. Dingy - (IMO the best colored water) Natural colored plastics and most moving baits work just fine. Back off and make longer casts. Cover water until you get a bite and then stop and fish the area hard until you loose confidence in it. Clear - Light line, natural colors, very natural looking crankbaits work best. Very long casts and cover the area fast. You also may find the fish down deeper where they feel safe. But the strike zone is huge and they are more willing to come and get your baits. This is very basic and will change a little depending on water temp and weather.
