  1. You have two options: 1. Forgive him of the things he did in the past and try to enjoy the time you have left with him. When he dies you will have no regrets and a clear conscience. Is there a chance that you'll get hurt in the process? Yep. 2. Allow his sins of the past to haunt you for the rest of your life. You can ignore him until you read about his death in the newspaper, and you will be eat up with guilt. There is no chance of getting hurt with this option. Instead, hurt is a guarantee. When we forgive someone, we aren't letting them off the hook. We're letting ourselves off the hook. Please be there for your dad. It will be awkward, painful, frustrating, and disappointing at times. But, it will also be rewarding.

  2. Best new rod? Zebco Snoopy rod. They are better than every other rod, appeal to the six and under crowd and are 1/57th the cost of a GLoomis NRX. I am not affiliated with Zebco but did read Charlie Brown comic strips as a kid.

  3. I have done a lot of research and reading on this topic in my spare time off the water fishing. With all the searching, reading and talking to people this is the marketing/advertising/promotion proposal letter that I have put together. I was hoping to find someone to take a look at what I have put together. I'm not looking to sign with Ranger Boats or Evinrude Outboards. I'm starting small, some local business around my home town..... Proposal Letter: Dear: Potential Business Partner I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this letter, as it will potentially benefit me, but more importantly you. My name is Bryan Crawford and I am a competitive tournament b*** angler. You are probably thinking what does that have to do with your company. I am extending this invitation to you personally, to partner with me to promote and market your growing company in a new way. What do I mean in a new way? As a competitive tournament b*** angler, I compete in bass tournaments throughout the Southwest. I can provide you an entire new marketing angle. Advertising in this manner will put your company name and logo in the middle of other anglers, their families, spectators and the general public. If your company has not thought about this unique approach of business marketing, it may benefit your company to take a closer look. Everyday companies are involving themselves with competitive tournament b*** angler marketing. Some of these companies have nothing to do with the fishing industry at all. Companies like Pedigree, Evan Williams, Toyota, Fuji Film, Geico and many more. I feel there is a better opportunity for companies that are not related to the fishing industry. With the rough economy you are forced to stretch you advertising dollars more and more. competitive tournament b*** angling can make a lot of sense because many companies have not been introduced to this type of marketing before. With the growing popularity of bass angling many companies are using tournament trails and its anglers, to help promote and market their products and services in a new way. As a competitive tournament b*** angler, I have prepared some excellent ideas to help promote and market your company. If you are interested in exploring a new marketing approach, which I can offer, please feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to becoming part of your Pro-Staff (Promotional Staff) So if anyone has any thoughts about this it would be great to hear them. If you would like to see more of the proposal please let me know and I can Email it to if you would like...

  5. I had gotten asked to hop up on the Hawg Trough and do a seminar at The Garden Stae Outdoor Expo.. It will show you how some of the Megastrike Products look and work under water. The stand was on the camera side and there was a lot of people there watching. I hope this will give you an idea about some of our products .Remind you that these bass have seen every baits from every manufacture - many times a day--They seem to really like and hold on when Megastrike was applied -Also watch the swim bait movement-

  9. There is a thread on tackle tour that compares the weights of the two Nrx's and believe it or not the green ones were lighter. Very minimal difference but lighter.

  10. I had both a green and blue 853 for a while. I did not notice any difference at all, and I compared them closely. But the green one broke and I replaced it with a blue one, since I prefer that color.

  11. That 893 I have must be a blue, don't have a green to compare it to, looks like a greenish blue to me, but from Jeb's description it must be a blue.

  12. I was always told that an unfinished blank would be more sensitive.my custom jig rod is built on the high end north fork composite blank which comes unfinished

  13. I just went and looked at mine. I have some of each. The blue rods for sure have no finish on them, besides the wrap areas. Just a raw CF look. The green ones do have a finish. I guess I just thought it was from the green color they made such a fuss about when it came out. But maybe it's some kind of clear coat? AFAIK, all of the green ones have always had the rod specs between the split grips. Mine do for sure.

  14. There are always spots where you can fish a jig. Otherwise, the Fat Ika weightless and weedless is another option.

  15. I've got a green wrap 893 NRX, the Model and weight/line info is in front of the cork, where you'd expect it to be, and the epoxy is just on the wraps. I can see them moving the weight line info, even though it seems strange to put it between the grips, but epoxying the entire blank doesn't seem right, but I'm not a rod builder. Maybe give Loomis a shout?

  16. That's a rough situation man. I have no experience in that situation but I'll share my feelings on it. Despite your past with your dad and his mistakes he's still your dad. It sounds like he's in bad shape and may be trying to make amends for his past mistakes. I think if it were me I'd give him a chance and maybe get the chance to have some kind of good memories of your dad instead of just the bad things that have happened in the past. Hope everything turns out well for you.

  19. BTW, don't know if you all have heard, or read August 2012 BASS TIMES pg-24, but Juan Duran caught a 18.37 lb Northern Snakehead in the Occoquan river on a TX rig soft bait. The article said "Exotic Snakeheads are not only thriving in the Potomac River system, they're also growing to world record proportions" So angler beware if you come to the Potomac........

  21. The three C's (cut, color and clarity) of diamonds go right out the window with these chocolate diamonds. Thankfully my bride doesn't like them, but while dating my wife introduced me to the fourth C carat, and I introduced her to the fifth C cost.

  22. One of the ponds I fish has a large population of small bass along with some larger fish up to about 4 lbs. One of the larger fish learned that the little struggling fish being pulled to the shore were easy pickings. He would hang out behind a small rock pile about 10 feet off the shore and attack any of the smaller fish that got hooked. He got pretty good at ripping them off the hook without getting caught. That same fish got at least 10 dinks from me before he finally made a mistake and I got him. He was a pretty smart fish. After the first time he hit, I threw every baby bass colored bait I had at that rock pile and he never hit one of them but it was almost impossible to get a live, hooked fish past him without him getting a hold of it.

  27. Bad idea anyhow. Jigs find new homes without help. A trailer hook is a recipe for disaster.

  28. Space is limited in my little boat, and it's getting a bit rediculous of how many specialized rods I have. Earlier I had a brain cramp and deciede I needed to add 2 crankbait rods to my arsenal, one for square bills/shallow cranks, and one for smaller mid depth cranks like SK 3xd's, Little John MD's etc....to go along with the deep cranking rod I already have, a St Croix LTB 7'10" H/Mod. "magum cranker". But now, I have not bought anything yet, think I need to go the other way and have one rod that is more for general cranking than all these specialized rods. I tend to use SK 5xd's, and Spro Fat Poppa's more than any other deep cranks, and they are on the lower end of the LTB's rating. I occasionaly use 6xd's and Little John DD's. But not as often as the other two. Am I an idiot (shut up Noel) for thinking, insted of having 3 cranking rods all for specific presentations, to have one that will handle the meat of what I use (1.5/2.5 squarebills, 1/2 oz redeye shads, and 5xd's), that can toss the smaller cranks better than the LTB I have, but also use it for the bigger cranks like the 6xd when I go that way. Does such a rod even exist? I am kind of a St croix guy and would like to stay that way. The 7'4" Mojo glass rod has me interested as an all purpose rod., and I think it will handle my most used baits just fine, has any one ever used that rod for bigger baits like the 6xd, and how was it ? That Mojo is only rated to 3/4's oz, and the 6xd's are a 1 oz. bait. Going from a LTB to a Mojo wouldn't bother me, but maybe the switch from graphite to glass is what would. I do crank with braid, and when I have switched from deep cranking with the LTB to squarebilling with a cheap Lightning rod shock in the same day, it honestly has not botherd me at all..........except for the fact I paid $250 for a cranking rod that is so limited in what I can do with it, LOL. I have tried making that LTB work for other baits, but I just can't, and I don't want a rod that only does one thing (it is a dream with those deep cranks tho) due to my space/storage issues. Not to mention I am a non-boater often and am starting to get dirty looks, and snide comments from my boaters when I bring more rods than they do.

  31. This is a tough time of year to just be getting into bass fishing. Unfortunately one bait you've already ruled out would be one of my top picks to catch bass this time of year. Bass are cold blooded so as the water gets cold their metabolism slows way down and they become much less active. I really doubt you could get anything to eat a scum frog by this time of year. You may be able to get some on a fluke but I'd have a lot more confidence in a hard jerkbait like a pointer or Xrap. A lightly weighted finesse worm drug along the bottom or a 1/4 or 1/8 ounce spinnerbait with a single colorado bladed spinnerbait reeled just fast enough to turn the blade would be some good baits to start with.

  32. I own a 2001 Champion 206. I have had it since it was new. I use it 80-100 days each year. It still looks like it did when I bought it. The ride and handling are incredible. You won't go wrong with a 196 if it has been taken care of.
