  1. Sounds like you are having fun with this to me anyway LOL !!! One would think that if he really pushed his political views there would be a message at the end of that video..." I'm Glenn May and I approve this video"...hhmmm maybe we need to work on that. Also think it's a great video, Thanx Glenn !!

  2. I hate snow. I hate fishing in the snow and ice when we get it in Virginia. Don't know where you are but please accept my kindest sympathy for living in the snow belt. Down here in Richmond, Virginia, the Capitol of the Confederacy, when it snows everyone goes to the supermarket and then drives into a ditch!!!!!

  4. I was sitting around last night contemplating cork knobs and oversized knobs and it occurred to me, there cant be that much to it. Long story short the first knob was made out of an old wine cork to see if it could be done, this V2 set was made from new corks made for bottling Belgium beer. Really dense stuff and stronger than a single piece of natural cork. Pretty happy with how these came out. They incorporate the original collar out of the stock knobs, so all strength is still there, basically replaced the soft rubber with cork. NGaHB

  7. The Shad when they are aggressively feeding on top, and the Eel when you still want to fish on top, but don't want to make all the ruckus. They're both great, and a lot of fun to fish.

  9. Niceee. They've held up real well, especially considering they're either getting used or on the deck of my boat whenever I'm out.

  10. The Rage Shad is the most aggressive soft plastic topwater bait on the market, even more noisy than many buzzbaits, but you can fish it through trash that buzzbaits will foul up. It can be tuned down so that it's not as aggressive as well. The Rage Toad is the next step down for aggression and it can be tuned down too. The Eeliminator is more subtle and works extremely well in calm water or quiet conditions! If you watch the "Bringin Heat" video... you will see the type of action it has. Each has it's own specific use application but the eeliminator is also the best C rig bait on the market, IMO! If you Rage Rig it (swimbait hook), on a slack line fall, it rocks back and forth seductively. Hope this helps!

  12. The ones I've seen at BPS look like junk, and for what they sell for you can buy a proven reel.

  13. Spooling up a whole reel with leader material is expensive overkill IMO Seriously a short fluoro leader with good braid has been the ticket for me. Not fixing what aint' broke.

  15. Ive given it a fair shot (to be honest I havent tried the Ultra high end types). And the juice aint worth the squeeze for me. Tried 5-6 and it was mixed to say the least. If I found one that managed decent it stretched like a rubberband and wasnt all that sensitive. If it didnt have a ton of stretch it managed like crap. Kind of like nylon based lines but much more extreme. A few brands had the occasional unexpected break off. I love the direct connection and lack of line floating between me and a bottom contact bait, its great in current also. At the end of the day I trust Hybrid and braid w/a leader, they work and save me $.

  16. You mean there's still hope for me to make it big on-line?? For all that don't know him yet, make an effort to meet him, you won't regret it. He may be a little hardheaded on some subjects though

  17. I was hoping to have fun with this. "He used to be a mod, who got banned for posting profanity, started threads on Senko fishing and hijacking threads to push his political beliefs." It is a great vid on spinnerbait fishing, for sure.

  19. Flouro is more sensitive than mono or copoly because it is a denser line. Slack line bites are easy to detect. Abrasion resistance is good. It supposedly has the same light refraction as water so fish can't see it as easy. The bad.... If it gets a little kink or nick anywhere it will break. Knot strength is not quite as good though I haven't had a knot break yet just the line. The line is generally pretty stiff though a good dose of kvd line treatment helps. It does stretch no matter what any one says it is just doesn't immediately come back to the original length like mono. What that changes in my opinion is that it doesn't give it the springy feel and gives it the illusion of no stretch. When fishing it feels like it doesn't stretch but I know it does.....I checked lol. I have gone to it for all my bottom baits because of the sensitivity. As long as you keep a close eye on the line for Knicks and such u won't have problems.

  20. yeah I know. Im saying that your just wasting money in buying tungsten bullet weights for texas rig, just use lead for those lighter weights.

  21. I was just thinking the other day, I have been a member on here for coming up on 5 years, and I wanted to give a couple thoughts. first, has it really been that long? second the vast amount of knowledge on here makes pretty much any and all magazines irrelavent, I picked up an issue of bassin' the other day and was like man I remember a thread on BR from a while ago that was way better than this. I have also seen a lot of changes on the forum. I have to say if you were'nt around for muddy's (you mook) awesome music threads and hillarious grumpy old man-isms you are the one who is missing out. third I just wanted to say that this has been the most level headed best moderated forum I get on, I have seen VERY little scuffles or arguing in the time I've been here, and the ones that did exist were basicly a reslut of reading a post wrong and were quickly resolved. Another thing I notice is how few bots i have seen. I'm not shure if I've ever seen one. overall, I have to say, my hat is off to Glenn for making such a great site that actually has a sense of community to it. well it's getting late and I don't remember half the stuff I was going to say, so.. sincerely, guitarkid ps. between this thing --> http://www.flickr.co...N04/8016949671/ and working I really have'nt been on very much lately

  25. This is why I never buy a rod online. The bend may get worse with time, or even fail. It may also last forever, but I would send it back immediately for a refund, and buy locally where you can handle the rod and make sure it meets your requirements. You will always have doubt in your mind, and you will never get past it. Send it back.

  26. If the fish are on I'm going to catch them on anything and if they are off it may be a long day. I like to use something different each outing, I carry 1 rod and 2 or 3 lures and seldom change. I have more confidence in myself than the lure, I'm going to use the one that I think is better suited for shallow or deep, weedy or open water, etc. I prefer catching fish on my terms, meaning lures and techniques that I enjoy, it has to be fun, I will never put pressure on myself as "having to catch a fish".

  27. I'm right handed. I grew up using spinning gear, casting with my right hand and reeling with my left. When I switched to baitcasters, my first was right handed, and it just felt SO wrong. I bought a lefty reel and never looked back.

  28. I will switch after a number of casts to a spot I know holds fish - if they don't take it. How many casts, how many minutes, depends on the circumstances. Hows that for a clear-as-mud answer?

  29. Made the trip out to Shawnee State Fishing Lake which is about 15 minutes NW of Topeka today.. had the exact opposite bite: 2 bites all day, but both went over 4lbs I lost one but he didnt spit it on the first jump... he got me by racing in straight back on my hands and knocking free somewhere before I could catch up to him. Oh well, Live and learn.. That cold front made it pretty miserable to be on the water but aside from that the lake is a gem. It's an easy drive, a well maintained lake, and big bass are in there. 57 degree water temps main lake up there!

  30. Fished Olathe for about 4 hours this morning. Bite was pretty good just the size was not there. I caught 17 but only 2 over 15". I also had a 17" saugeye on a DT10 that I turned loose before I found out the length limit was 15" It's 18 everywhere else I fish so I just figured it was the same out there. I guess I'll know next time.

  31. Good to know J Franco. If I can save enough nickles I want to try one! It is interesting that as a confirmed budget fisherman I find myself defending spending a little more for rods and reels. As most know, I use BPS PQ reels that can be bought on sale for $80. They have held up to tough use for several years now without any problems. I have had other experiences with inexpensive gear (rods, reels, and other tackle) that just turned out to be "cheap". I would not advise a new fisherman to buy cheap gear. One good combo is worth more than several cheap ones. My opinion, based on my experience...

  32. I have a Hawgtech handle. Paid retail for it, too - so you know I'm not shilling. As my budget allows, I will be adding more, along with replacing knobs where I don't want the bigger handle. It's that well made. A relative bargain in the world of reel upgrade parts.

  33. Louie, we all need help catching bass. That's why this site is so popular and there are thousands of baits, rods, reels, lines, tackle, books, DVDs and YouTube posts. And those little green monsters with a brain the size of a marble still outsmart us. To be a good bass fisherman you need to study bass fishing. Just like if you wanted to be a rocket scientest. You would study rocket science. You need to go to bass fishing seminars; watch those DVDs; read those books; go to the top of this page and read the articles; hit the web sites of the pros and read their information. May I suggest hitting Woo Daves web page, www.woodaves.com and read his articles. Here are two sites you need to visit and save in your favorites: https://www.youtube.com/bassresource http://www.bassresou...=subscribe&id=1 As for your lake, you need to consider doing the following: 1. Walk around the entire lake and try to see what is along the shoreline and if there is any structure or rocks/stumps on the bottom that could hold the bass. 2. Look around the lake for wood or grass/pads. Bass love wood and grass/pads. 3, Fish for bait fish to find out if there are any baitfish in the lake. Use live minnows, corn, Nightcrawlers or small grubs on light line and see what you can catch. This will tell you what the bass eat and you can select your baits accordingly. 4. Get a spinning rig; use 8 pound flourocarbon line; get a #1 or 1/0 worm hook and put a 4-inch #297 Senko on it and go fishing. Throw that Senko everywhere as you walk around the lake. 5. Get a spinning rig; use 6 or 8 pound flourocarbon line; get a 1/16 shaky head jig head and put a green pumpkin trick worm on it. Throw that shakyhead everywhere as you wak around the lake. 6. Ever heard of a Carolina rig? Look it up on this site and YouTube. Throw that rig as you walk around the lake feeling for what is on the bottom. Invest in a tungston weight ($$$$$$$) so you can fee the bottom. Use a baitaster with 12 to 17 pound flourocarbon line. 7. Drag a jig of your choice (Check out Denny Brauer's web site and his book) with a plastic pig and make it look like a crawfish on the bottom. In other words, experiment to find out if there are any bass in the lake and if so, where are they. Remember that the deepest part of the lake is usually by the dam. So fish the dam area. Your homework is to read, read and read somemore about bass fishing. Remember, you can have structure without bass but not bass without structure. Weather conditions. You need to learn weather conditions and its affect on the bass population. Suscribe to as many bass magazines as you can. "Like" Ike's Facebook page along with other bass pros' Facebook page. Any fool can walk around a lake or pond and throw a biat not having any idea of how to fish and they can luck out and catch something. You want to be able to master that lake and to do so you need to educate yourself on bass fishing. And that's the fun of bass fishing. Good luck and all the best for a bright bass fishing future.

  34. I've only got to sit one morning and one afternoon so far. The evening sit was the last time, a week and a half ago. Had a little 6 point under my stand for 15 minutes eating soybeans and acorns. There was a doe there too but I never saw her until they were walking the other way across the bean field. Wish she would have stepped out where he was at.

  35. I went out and sat in my treestand from 5:30am to after sunset. I only saw two does but couldn't get the shot. For my first time hunting I really enjoyed myself listening to the acorns dropping and watching the squirrels playing. It was something about that wind rocking my tree, had me napping lol. Can't wait for next weekend. How did everyone do?
