  2. Holy Cow, this has turned into, hypothetically speaking , pun intended, the most scientific peeing contest in quite a while. For those still tuned in, suffice it to say I am not a believer of bigfoot. However, I do absolutely believe in the abominable snowman, the yeti, the Easter Bunny, the Great Pumpkin, Scooby-doo, and of course, Santa Claus. I will not be posting any scientific links to back up my beliefs. Feel free to resume with the peeing.

  3. to each their own. You have you're priorities in order. Keep it up brutha. The fish ain't doing anything but getting bigger! They will be there when you are. Get out there with your pops if you can so you won't have to be wishing that you had.

  4. The Tokar hook is made by Eagle Claw and they are trying to regain a market position lost to the Japanese hooks that introduced new metals and sharing technology. Tokar has basically tried to offer a hook that incorporates features known to be popular and hope these features appeal to anglers. The shrink sleeve is copied from Roboworm Rebard, the triangular knife edge from Owner and eliminate the needle point that tends to flatten. The cost is higher due to sharpening after heat treatment and plating, which dulls the very tip and sharp edges. Tokar is sharping the hook for you, then packaging it. Tokar is a sharp hook out of the package. How long it stays sharp depends on what the hook point contacts during each cast, no hook is indestructible! The question is; do you want to pay for one hook sharping or learn to sharpen your own hooks? If you don't learn how to keep your hooks extremely sharp, then you either throw dulled hooked away or fish with a dulled hook. Fishing with a dulled hook point leads to missed strikes because the hook didn't stick into mouth tissue and transfer the fishes movement to let you know a strike has occurred. I am a fan of sharpening every hook I fish with and check and resharpen them as needed. The triangular knife edge sharping is standard practice for my marlin hooks because the knife edges cut into the bill and hard mouth. I am not a fan of knife edges for bass hooks and prefer just the tip to be extremely sticky sharp because bass have softer mouth tissue and only the inside ridge of the lips and surface of the crunchers in the roof the basses mouth are tough to penetrate with the tip of the hook and slicing through isn't needed. I also use a fine tool makers file to sharpen hooks. I don't spend a lot of time resharping worm hooks, unless I am running low on them, but I do sharpen jig hooks due to the cost of making up jigs, like hair jigs! In regards to a pro bass angler; who would risk missing a money fish due to a dulled hook, they re tie and replace their hooks constantly, it's a matter getting a check or not...the cost of fishing. Tokars; I tried the free samples, very sharp out of the package and dulls just like any other hook during use. I don't like the knife edges and caution anyone using them to take care the hook edges do not contact your line when storing the hooks on your rods on the deck or in the locker, the sharp edges will cut and nick the line. Tom PS; appoloogize for the long reply, too much time setting around on my backside.

  5. Well? What can I say, I had a great time meeting everybody. The first one I met was Traveler, Right from the get-go, one of the most interesting people I think I have ever met, always smiling, always friendly, full of stories that I love listening too, he told me the story of the reasoning behind his handle and thought I was going to LMAO !!! gophers and cubicles, almost sounds like a TV commercial. We had not talked 5 minutes and already he gave me something from his house that him and his wife thought would be a nice gift and sure enough it was, the gift is one thing that Traveler and his wife will most likely not think was much at all, but to be thought of was more important than the gift and I would like to thank you both for each. The next one I met was Zoff, hhhhmmm, what do I say about Zoff? well?...hhhhmmmm, got to be one of the most wired up people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, I thought I was wired, wait till you meet this guy !!! Zoff, you have got to be one of the most outgoing, laid back people I have ever met, I do not think you nor I have ever met a stranger, our first meeting was like this, Hello Sonny it's nice to finally meet you, Here have a beer !!! Now how can you not like a guy like that !!! We are going to have to work on getting you a more refined pallet though my friend, LOL !! The next ones came in a pair, Aj and Steve, We did not get to talk too much at all but I could tell you two are a class act, really nice people that I hope to someday meet again and soon...hopefully you will let me try out some of that equiptment you guys had there LOL !!! The next pair was Sam and Endless, Sam I have to say I wish we could have spoken a little more, you have a great sence of humor and you started our day off with a few laughs, what better way to start and end a day, good job finding some fish, I think your boat outfished us all, congrats !!! I would also like to say congrats on getting Endless to smile for a photo, that is a feat all in itself LOL !! Endless, what a great guy and also funny as well, you caught the largest fish of the day, we had something weird going on though, it seems the larger fish had no weight and the smaller fish had more weight, I don't know what the heck was up with that but it definately was weird, hey buddy congrats on big fish and I was happy to see you smiling !!! Chris, I don't know if you had fun or not you were one of those quiet kind of guys, you said you did, but you did not say too much so I hope you really did, I was looking forward to having a conversation with you but everything ended as quickly as it started, I hope we can meet again sometime and have that conversation and do a little fishing too !! There will be pics for everyone to see from the trip so stay tuned, but I have to agree, the wind there was terrible, at 7am the lake was already white capping down by the dam, and by 8:30 both of my trolling motor batteries were already all but dead, I headed there to fish an old road bed and some bowling ball size rocks, but with the current coming from dike 3's return port and the 30mph winds I knew that was going to be impossible, so my daughters boyfriend Chris and I tried the rocks over in Valentine cove and had no luck there with anything, that we could keep in contact with, Finess baits would have been pretty tough, then we tried the stumps that were just on the other side and the long point just before that but we just had too many issues holding the boat and almost ran aground several times, so we headed back up lake and found Traveler with Aj and Steve, they were having some ok luck with Senko's but as I had approached Traveler's boat I had seen he was tangled in a line a from a rod off of the near by deck, as I untangled the line that was wrapped around the prop, the line suddenly came loose and the hook caught my left index finger...SON OF A !!!!, oh well nothing a band-aid did not take care of, Chris and I headed around the bridge at Christopher Run and went back into the cove that had some grass and some small lay downs and we found a pattern we could work with, they were hitting spinners off of the edges of grass, we landed two, one about a pound and a half and the other about two pounds, and just wait until you see the other two he had caught, MONSTERS I TELL YOU !! By the time we worked that cove, my trolling motor batteries were completly gone, we had to stop fishing and go back and retreive a battery from my camper, there went 45 minutes of the day, so we decided to go over to another creek and finish out the day, I tried to fish the point at the entry, it has a few stumps there that I usually get some pretty good bites but no luck, the wind just kept pushing us well away from where we needed to be, then we found Sam and Endless in the same cove, so we had a small conversation of having any luck?, Sam replies, yes we caught 10 with one good size one Endless had caught, and then he asked me the same question, my reply we caught 50, now you can imagine what Sam and Endless thought at that moment, let me tell ya their facial expressions said it all, YOU GUYS CAUGHT 50? Sam, a "one fish Anna" patriarch almost believed I think that we actually caught 50 fish for maybe a second and then asked, really? No just kidding, only 2 buddy LOL !!! We were going to do the cook out at the park but the wind would just not let up enough to allow us to do that, so we went back to Travelers camp and had the cook out, he had the best site with hardly any wind, I cooked and Traveler and Zoff gave away the prizes we had recieved from our sponsors. Seibert Outdoors gave us NOT ONE, which is all we asked for, but 6 jigs, I did manage to get a look at these jigs when they arrived at my house, I have to tell you guys I wanted to fish these jigs on Friday so bad I could not stand it !!! Mike at G-Man jigs, It was an amazing thing you did for us, we can not thank you enough for pitching in and helping us out with this, your jigs looked absolutly amazing and if any of you guy's and gal's out there have any questions about jigs, I can promise you that Mike is amazing to work with and will be more than happy to hook you up with a product that is in my opinion second to none, he has some really cool cosmic trailers that he uses and sells on his site as well, He has a slew of different varities and colors to choose from and he is even willing to help you make the right choice for your needs, JUST ASK HIM, you will see the difference !!! Mark at Bass Angler Magizine, Dude your Mag looks so AWESOME !!! Guy's and gal's this guy gave away a FREE one year subscription to his magizine, and Mark we can not thank you enough either, what you did was equaly amazing, this magizine from front to back is packed with info that will help us all become better fisherman and women, the best part about this Mag is that it is packed, each one has 30 or more articals to help even the experienced angler become better at their trade, 30 articals, thats a ton of stuff !!! The major difference that makes this mag stand out from the rest is that they are not selling you their advertisers products, they research and write important information about products that have been proven to help you catch bass !!! You all should visit both of their web sites and take a look at what they have to offer, you won't be dissapointed !!! Glenn and Keri, of our Bass Resource Thank you both for helping us out and sending us the Bass Resource stickers... I am going to put them on my boat or my truck I have not figured out which yet, maybe one each,... the line conditioner you sent was an AWESOME gift and you sent a ton of it, enough for everyone to have at least two bottles, that is a HUGE donation there was enough stuff for everyone to be able to have multiple items to take back home with them. Traveler, You added to the list by bringing your hand made gifts of spinners and buzz baits and just freely gave them away, and as many as we wanted too !! They are awesome, I tried mine the next morning, I used the Fire Tiger spinner you picked out for me as I was cooking and fished a lay down, on the very second cast, wham!! I landed a small one but still a fish from a bait made by someone I am happy to call a friend. Traveler, you are a truly remarkable guy, meeting you this weekend and having the chance to fish with you from your boat was one of the best times I have had in a long time. Thank you for everything everybody, it was a ton of fun and I hope and look forward to doing it again !!!! One more person left to thank, I want to thank my wife for helping with everything, she loves to fish and she knew there was room on my boat to go fishing, yet she stayed behind and took care of getting the food and what we needed for the cook out. I love ya baby !!! Keep an eye out for all the pics everybody !!!

  6. I hope you're playing the Devils's advocate. Since Bigfoot does not exist, it is a waste of time trying to prove that it does, well except for the entertainment value.

  9. Great? What's so great about the worst day of officiating in the NFL so far?

  10. creature bait plastics fished right on the stained/clean water line in strong wind blown points. 2-5 feet of water. have a shad rap rigged for fish busting on the surface. cranks were for the most part a waste of time otherwise.

  11. I have caught fish on it both ways but my favorite way as of late and worked awesome this weekend is drift fishing with it verticle. Caught a few small mouth with it this weekend was working good. All in how your comfortable.

  12. I hope they air the whole weekend as well but a tough time at Shelbyville usually doesn't make it to TV. The grind it out type of tourney is really interesting to me as well and shows that even the guys at the top of the sport have those days they wish they could take back as well.

  13. The line is breaking near the reel on long casts. I do use a palomar knot but I don't think that is the problem. I usually have to pull the lure in by hand since the line is breaking down near the reel on long casts.

  14. I've honestly rarely missed any fish on EWG hooks as well. I'll occasionally use offset worm hooks for the same reason but I like having a EWG hook on for the ease of switching out soft plastics as well. I can T-Rig just about anything on a 3/0 - 4/0 EWG hook so I can switch from a worm to a craw, etc. if I feel like I need to.

  15. Not hijacking the thread but aren't Berkley power products bio-degradeable. Also isn't there a company making soft baits from animal proteins?

  16. It does sound like tough fishing. But I actually really enjoy it when these anglers come up against these situations. I enjoy the big bass and big bags but rather than watching them fish bass that are chewing the paint off every bait in the box and smashing 25 - 30 pound bags everyday - this provides us with a chance to see what the best of the best do on a tough bite. 17. That bass in your hand right there has the genes to become a real monster later down the road. Maybe you will catch it again!

  18. If soldering the clips on doesn't solve the problem, take the clips off and solder eyelets on the cables so you can put them on the batteries studs, use stainless nuts on the studs and a wrench to snug them down. I've had lots of problems clips not having enough contact area on the post and over heat. My standard practice now is if I get a TM that has clips, I cut them off and solder eyelets on before I even use it the first time. Clips usually cause more problems than they are worth.
