  1. A Rapala Skitter Pop in any color. This is the only popper I have ever used where I get consistent hit's on it when they will hit topwaters.

  5. I have been down here for about 10 days now and between lobstering, inshore, and offshore fishing I am wore out. I found this great spot in Everglades National Park that has some constant Seatrout action. A spot off "the hump" for blackfin tuna, that we have had an issue with dolphin of the flipper kind eating the tuna on way up. Also, bully netted some lobster during mini-season that we ate with some steak tips, MMMM. Gotta love Florida! If I get a good tide I am gong to go after some tarpon for some rod bending, fish jumping action!

  6. Got a new NWTF Super X-2 and I can't ever see me trading it in on another. I have a shiny Browning Gold for Quail and Dove but that little X-2 is awesome in the waterfowl blind, turkey setup, or just for walking through the woods when I don't want to bruise up Grade III wood. Contemplating on getting a rifled bbl and taking a deer some year with it. I've taken just about everything else, so why not. Don't tell anyone but a few Oklahoma quail and a Tennessee dove or two may have been downed at the hands of the X-2 as well.

  9. Those rods get great reviews here.... Just be aware that with micro guides, you will not be able to tie a leader onto the braid as the knot will not flow through the guides.

  10. I'm sorry, but blaming a line, any line for pilot error is not acceptable. Backlashes occur with any line. I have fewer with fluorocarbon than with any other line. The #1 cause of backlash is pilot error, that's all there is to it. It isn't the line's fault, not the reel's either. If youfeel you're having more backlash problems with fluoro, fill the spool slightly less than you would with other lines. Use higher brake settings, and more tension until you get used to the way it behaves on your reels.

  11. What you are describing is referred to as over-run, which causes the backlash. The SX is a pretty free running reel and will require thumb control. The Mag brakes are only to assist. Set them up as described above. You may also want to modify your casting stroke. Don't throw the bait too hard. A good rod will load with relatively little effort. A nice smooth easy cast lets the rod do the work and usually ends up in better accuracy and distance .

  12. Not strange at all. The bass was choking on the perch: too big to swallow, fins stuck in the throat/ mouth so the perch could not be expelled. Last winter a buddy and I saved ~5 lb smallmouth in this exact situation. To remove the bluegill took the two of us, knives and pliers. Basically we had to cut the breem to pieces in order to remove it from the bass. Surprisingly, the smallmouth survived!

  13. I like taking zoom finese worms and cutting them in half length wise and nose hook them. Really good action for casting a drop shot.
