  1. I can't explain how much my Dad enjoyed that gift. He was very touched as well as I. Thank you Mike for making it for me.

  2. My 4 yr old never had the "terrible twos" or threes. He was a perfect angel and NEVER gave his mom and me any trouble. He is now 4 years old and lately has begun to be a real pain in the ars, which I'm almost certain I know why, but that's another story that has to do with my in-laws who like to spoil. The wife and I go out to breakfast this morning. I park the truck and open the back doors. I tell our son to go ahead and unbuckle his seatbelt and get out. The little sht looked straight at me and said "I don't think so. I'm NOT going!" With a very calm, soft voice, I said "Don't talk to me like that. Come on, lets go." LOL, he crosses his arms and turns his head away from me. I bit my lip and said "Son, I'm going to count to 3 and you had better be out of this truck. If not, then I'm going to spank you." I counted to three and he completely ignored me. It broke my heart, but I reached in, unbuckled the seatbelt and snatched his ars out of his seat. I stood him up in the parkining lot and gave him four, fast swats on the ars with my hand. He fought back the tears for about 5 seconds. Just as he started to cry from hurting his feelings (not from the ars pain, he was wearing a padded pull up.) I heard a voice from the next isle over. The voice was coming from a lady who said "I just saw you hit that kid and I'm calling the cops if you do it again." I replied "Mind your own business, you old hag." LMAO, My wife looks at me and says "really babe, Old Hag?" LOL, the lady was about 45 yrs old and I didn't want to say what I really wanted to call her so, for some reason, Old Hag is the first thing that popped into my head. Anyway, does anyone spank their kids? Is anyone dead set against corporal punishment? By the way, my son was the most perfect gentleman for the rest of the day.

  3. got in the water around 1 and immediately noticed that the water had dropped at least 2 feet since last week and they were still moving water. the water was ripping to the east faster than i had ever seen it move. i didn't want to take a chance running west with the low water, so we decided to fish the cuts down the canal. first cut and a nice fish smacks my prop bait out of the water. mike throws in behind me and bangs a 4 pounder. started letting the wind push us east, and we fan casted into the open water with the eel grass. mike was throwing a big ez and banged another 3+ fish. i started to flip the heads and started getting some bites. then i got a thump and and boated this chunk. mike and i would have had 16-18 pounds in 4 hours. that guy is big fish magnet.

  5. After reading a few threads about crankbaits I can't stands no more. With the exception of getting a little different action from the crankbait, what other reasons would you change your hooks for? I'm talking out of the box, not the old dull rusty hooks on that old rapala your grandad has used for forty years. Those stinking trebles grab everything in the boat they're not supposed to hook into. They will certainly do the same to a fish if he BITES the darn thing! What's the point?

  6. ] Not quite. 12 breaks at roughly 19 pounds. 15 at just shy of 20. The 20 breaks at I believe 22. Yo zuri is updating their web page right now. Can't get the exact numbers. It d**n sure ain't twice it's rating. Darn good line though.

  7. Yes they can and they get much bigger than people think. We trapped one a few years ago that was almost 70lbs and their teeth can chew through trees so skin and bone isn't any stretch for them. I thought I'd hooked a new state record night fishing several years ago on a jitterbug. Huge splash and stripping drag but after a few seconds I realized my line was above the water, way above the water. A great horned owl had picked up my jitterbug and was flying off. He ended up crashing into the bushes and pulled the hook out before he flew off. I called it a night after that.

  9. Just keep adding more 3700 boxes until they all fit - then sort by brand, depth, color, or whatever. If you want all your deep cranks in a singe container, consider getting one of the larger size "Special Mate" boxes (Google it).

  10. Idk what is more impressive the size of the head on the fish or that amazing paint job on the boat! You may be a little too old for this term but your boat is "swagged out" (that's a compliment)

  11. Hahahahaha! Thats a great story! I actually have one from tonight! I hit the lake right at sunset and could only fish for about an hour or so. It got dark, but I could still make out objects on the surface. I saw what looked like a beaver swimming across the pond coming towards me. Now I don't know about yall, but I've heard stories of people getting their fingers, toes, nipples, and etc ripped off by beavers. I crawled up high in my boat and watched the beaver swim past. All of the sudden, a huge explosion of water engulfed the beaver and from below came a massive largemouth with his mouth wide open ready to suck in its prey. The beaver disappeared and I never saw it again. I was completely dumfounded and gazed at the spot where the attempted murder took place with an open mouth and wide eyes....kind of like a bass. After a few moments, I let out a huge laugh and decided to call it a night before that same bass tried to take me and my boat out next.

  12. I suscribe to Gary Yamamoto on Facebook and in this video he suggests a soft hookset when fishing Senkos. I actually am doing this with my spinning rigs and have not had any problems. After viewing the following video I would like to read your response to what Gary has to say. This could start a new trend in hooksetting. http://fishstrong.com/gary-yamamoto-hookset-philosophy-and-spinning-setup/

  13. Scrutch, I did get a little action today. I went to the dentist and had a filling and a crown installed. When I got home, I had the opportunity of pouring coffee all over my shirt while trying to drink it with my face completely numb. My wife thought it was hilarious and gave me a kiss. It's been the most exciting day I've had in weeks.

  14. You are welcome my friend! It is funny how small this world is. Mumpy and I live 1500 miles away from each other, but several years ago he and I chewed some of the same dirt in a far away land around the same time. Good luck fishing this summer! I hope your father out fishes every one with that rod! It was a blast too build. Thank you for your service brother! Mike

  17. I throw my Senkos on a 7' BPS Carbonlite MH I bought on sale and my $97 Curado 50E, which I bought from one of the liquidation sales last fall. An absolutely fantastic Senko set up.

  21. Congrats man, that's awesome! I went out fishing in the rain and the fish were on. Jigs, cranks, worms, they were smashing everything. The pond is well over the banks though and it might flood.

  23. What are you worried about? Luck-E-Strike has been building baits for a long time and the RC series run really well, I think it is a high quality bait for the price. I think Lucky Craft and the import baits have really brainwashed us anglers to the point we wonder if a crankbait under 10 bucks is any good. Certain no name or "off brand" baits that we find cheap are usually made cheap but most of the brand baits, even luck-e-strike are pretty good. I will tell you that the freak looks like a killer bait, a deep diving crank that can deflect off deep brush and rock piles like a square bill, it may change the game a little.

  24. Yeah man I dunno about a boat, maybe a friend with a boat lol. Boats are too much work and money for me. But I would like on to do inshore and crabbing.

  25. Doctors Lake? I've never fished it before but it's a pretty popular spot, I always see a lot of nice bass boats in their. There are lots of docks to fish around. Swimming Pen creek which runs into Doctors Lake and Black Creek just south of their are good spots also. Man I need a boat lol
