  1. Hmm... you just listed 3 moving baits... spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and jerkbaits.... try a soft plastic... The fish arent going after any moving type bait so throw out a senko or something and let it sink to the bottom and slowly twitch it back in..... If there are fish there... they will eat it. Good luck

  2. Was supposed to fish in a charity tourney this weekend, but some things didn't work out, so we decided to go catfishing. First time I had been dedicated catfishing in over 15 years but we had a blast. Method was verticle fishing in 20-35 fow with chicken livers and 2 oz weights. Bouncing it on the bottom while floating down the river. We caught 26 in all, but brought home 24. ONe was to big and one was too small. Almost exact mix of blue cats and channel cats. Here are a couple pics.... Nick's big blue: Jeff

  4. I, Long Mike, being of questionable mind and aging body, do hereby raise my right hand and solemnly declare myself an OLD FART, and am hereby officially permitted to: Scratch my butt in public. Drive forever with my left blinker on. Pass gas in a crowded elevator. Mumble incoherently to myself. Drive forty-five miles an hour in the passing lane. Forget the names of my family and friends. Snore like a chainsaw. Wear goofy hats. Call all teenagers "stupid little punks." Constantly complain about my aching body parts, and Fall asleep with absolutely no warning. Sworn on this 27th day of June, 2012. (Plagiarized from a Birthday Card.)

  7. Unfortunately there are to many fisherman who fit that description, being rude, disobeying the rules, sneaking in to fish private places, and such. It is normal in life, 1000 people do good, 1 does bad and only the bad is remembered. We can only continue to not fit that stereotype and hope more people follow.

  8. I've never understood the folks that think a .45 is some sort of magic death ray that causes instant incapacitation. 9mm allows for a smaller framed gun to have a much higher capacity than the larger calibers, faster followup shots, wide selection of ammo, "plinking" ammo is 1/2 the price of .45 which means more time spent at the range, etc. I've carried almost every mainstream caliber from .25 to .45 over the years (with the exception of .44 Mag and .44 Special), and there isn't a single one of them that won't do its job if you do yours. These days, what I value more than bore diameter is reliability. If it goes bang when I want it to and hits where I point it, I'm fine with it. Kahr CM9 in a TJ Edmond Leatherworks custom IWB, and a M&P9c in a DeSantis Intruder (ignore the coat of drywall dust on it, I'm renovating a bathroom). I bounce back and forth between the two, depending on what I'm wearing and where I'm going. The M&P gets the nod 90-95% of the time, though.

  9. They probably got tired of people contacting them for warranty reasons. While their rods might not be any more fragile than any other brand, their lack of customer service is a consistant complaint. Thre have been numerous cases where people just got tired of trying to get through to E21 and wound up just thowing their broken rods away. A warranty is no good if you can't get ahold of the manufacturer. It'll be a cold day in hell before I set up a Facebook account just so I can get a response from a manufacturer, and I think they're counting on other anglers to feel the same way.

  12. Mike, Just a thought here. What if the shims were installed in an un even orientation, 1-2, 2-3, etc. That would cause the spool to sit into the race deeper on the left side than needed. The way it sounds now seems like the Cast Control hasn't been set up properly (No Lateral Play). Tight Lines!

  16. If it works out like the last little bit has worked out for me, you'll end up with so little time for fishing you won't care about a boat. To answer the OP's question, I downsized boats after having kids a few years ago. To make it simple, its a pain to launch larger boats on some of the smaller lakes and I was no longer able to travel every weekend. the fact that the employer I worked for went under has since made me carefully reevaluate every major purchase, but, in that time, a new boat has not been something I've considered. The couple months of unemployment and uncertainity had a major impact on how I view things, and once my kids are able to enjoy time on the water, it will be an influence on my next purchase. The italics are not for emphasis, but rather because I'm an idiot who doesn't know why they even began in this thread.

  17. I don't even have to think about this one. Mid-day use a deep diving crankbait on ledges in about ten to fifteen feet of water. Just make sure your retrieve is slow and your crankbait is on bottom.

  18. Swim jig, goes throught the weeds perfectly, hooking percentage is higher than any of the baits mentioned, you can do an infinite number of retrieves to get strikes, you can also vary trailers for a variety of different looks, by far the most versatile of all the baits mentioned. And you won't wanna sceam, cry, throw fits and generally act like a 3 yr old if you lose it like you would if you lost the swim bait...lol that is how I would act anyway.
