  3. The braid spinning on your spool is an easy fix. Leave about 50 feet of monfilament on your reel, and attach your new braid with a double uni knot.

  4. I'd switch to at least a 30 lb braided line and a rod that has enough backbone to rip them out of the lilly pads.

  6. I fish main channel stuff at night. Most of my summer time tournaments happen at night. Long points, main channel points, hard bends in channel, transition areas. I keep it very simple. Usually two rods will do the trick. One with a jig, greenpumpkin or black/blue. and one with a brush hog or 10+ inch worm. (brush hogs seem to do better at begginning of summer then switch to the worm in hotter periods/ jigs are good year around). 12-15lb flourescent line. I always found this to be the most productive way of fishing at night. Its simple, it takes out a lot of variables, and you just have to find the fish. The other baits mentioned work well and are fun to fish too...along with a spinnerbait. I've just found this to work best for me, and it catches keeper and quality fish both.

  9. When in doubt, set the hook. Always try to keep a little tension on the line. Bass like to pick them up and swim with them. Watch your line. As far as fishing them, try hopping them, dragging them, swimming them, or whatever seems to work on that particular day. Nothing is set in stone.

  11. If you have confidence in the specific jerkbait your throwing, dont change it!!! Just insert the rattle, take it back out, then drop a dab of superglue on it and re-insert it. You should be good to go! Good luck, man! Soft plastic jerkbaits are one of my confidence baits and like ww2farmer said, the Yamamoto d-shad KILLS the fish. I also really love the Zoom superfluke in smokin shad. I rig all mine with a 3/0 Gamakatsu ewg, 8lb fluoro, and a Spro barrel swivel about 10" up the line. Twitch, twitch, pause, twitch, pause, repeat,,,,that is, if a fish hasn't already engulfed it!!!

  14. That's like the perfect answer. The same lures and the same techniques work exactly the same. As for what's harder that depends on the population and fishing pressure. If your pond is highly pressured it might be harder cause actually all those fish have seen that lure. Just on a lake your lure wasn't going by as many fish with each cast.

  17. The next time you have a bleeding fish, hold it over the water and watch what happens. It clots instantly upon hitting the water. Maybe Sprite or whatever causes the blood to clot faster, I don't know. But it surely won't clot as long as it's out of the water unless you do something.

  18. Makes me wonder about all those times when I have felt a bite while fishing plastics on the bottom and pulled in half a worm. How many were fish and how many were turtles.

  19. I had a Stradic CI4 and got rid of it, It was plenty light but felt cheap to me and was not as smooth as my MgFB's, after I found a very unbiased review on the new FJ series Sradic's, I bought the new FJ 1000, I am very impressed and am sure it is a better reel!!!! If I were you I'd save some cash and for about $50.00 less than the CI4, I'd buy the New Stradic FJ 3000 same size as the 2500 but holds more line and even though it's 2 oz. heavier than the CI4, it is much smoother, more powerful, and has more features with the dual supported mainshaft, the X Ship is very noticeable!! The new Stradics really are back on top of the spinning reel list, the X ship really is noticeable, more so bringing in larger fish!! Read this I did and am glad I tried one, I will in time replace all my other stradics with the new FJ series! It is smoother than my Sustain FE. http://www.tackletou...ostradicfj.html Street price is about $135.00 New.

  24. Exactly correct. Just another invasive species to Southern Florida waters. Fun fish to catch on light tackle. Supposedly not a bad fish to eat either.
