  1. when i used braid with spinnerbaits, the softness of it caused it to wrap around the upper arm and/or the blades often. i hated it and use a 20lb. fluoro leader with it now.

  2. IMO dolphins are a magnificent looking fish, maybe my favorite, and can put up one hell of a fight, I don't catch too many of them anymore as we mainly fish water 80-150', as rule dolphin are in deeper water, look for the weedline or floating debris. When I moved to Florida 9 years ago a disc with a number of my fishing trips and vacations got lost forever, wish I had. I do have quite a few hard albums full of fishing pics, been here 9 years and haven't opened the box, lol....gotta scan some of those pics one day.

  3. If this is your first baitcasting combo, I would recommend spooling up with an inexpensive mono to learn. Trilene Big Game in 12# would work well. You can get a big ol' spool at Wal-Mart for under 10 bucks, enough to fill your reel several times. During the learning process, you will probably throw some horrendous backlashes and destroy some line cutting them out. Good fishin'! Tom

  7. Here are my salties...My Mahi, Bonnet head and Trout. I didn't get a pic with the bonnet head because we had a child on the boat who unfortunately got scared by a wild trout that hit him in the chest when someone was holding it so I was afraid of doing the same with the shark lol.

  9. Other than the popper in blk/chrome, blue/silver or tenn. shad, zoom toads in blk/yllw swirl, or buzz baits in white or green/chart work for me. You will find lots like the zooms, they are a fav of a few around here. Lol

  10. I'm not sure what US version is comparable to the AR 2500, but I have the 1000 FA, 2500 FD and 2500 FE. The reels are sweet, I'm sure you will love yours!

  11. Moaner Hooks has come out with the Stick'r Rig, a version of the Jika rig. This is the perfect rig when the bite is on the bottom.

  15. Hehe. I've gotta stop responding to post that I have no experience in. I just thought that if you haven't seen the vids then maybe if you'd seen what type of action they have then you would have some ideas to try. Like the shad, for me that would either be c-rig or rage rig. But anyways.

  19. The palomar knot is probably the easiest to tie and I have never had it fail. Once you get it down it's really fast to tie.

  20. The pool exercise is a good way the learn the action of a bait if you have a pool; I got after hour access to our community pool once to work on spinners - learned a lot, but got a lot of jokes from the staff - which was OK considering what I got out of it. Tip: make sure to use a concrete pool, you don't want to snag your pool liner.

  22. "i can point our probably hundreds of examples of these same members whining and moaning about the whole marriage/family stuff." Yea, and us happily married guys could point out hundreds of examples of some young man on this forum acting like a drama queen because of his girl trouble. Fact is, if you have relationships (husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, classmate, co-worker, fellow BR member, etc.) you're going to have problems. And, when problems arise, there will inevitably be whining and moaning. "Why limit yourself to one ****** the rest of your life? You really think your sex drive (or hers for that matter) is going to last for a while? No. she will get sick of you, and you of her." I've been married for 10 years, and my sex life is better today than it was when I was a newly-wed. The kids keep us from getting it on quite as frequently, but the couple of times a week we do get together is great! We've been together so long we actually know what we're doing! You've bought society's lie that single guys get more than married folks. Bull! Truth is, we get it more often, and it's of better quality. While you're out hunting for a drink of water, we just go to the faucet and know what we're getting isn't contaminated! If you don't want to get married, don't. But, if you change your mind, I hope you get to experience the blessings of a good marriage.

  23. I have to warn you, I made a big mistace and bought a Lews Tournament MCS this Spring. I am an avid Shimano man from 400B Calcuttas to Sustains and Curados. over twenty reels, Now I am a owner of nothing but Lews for all my Low profile reels. I sold my Curados and Castics and replaced them with all new Lews, The Tournament Pro in my opinion is the best bang for the buck, I got mine for $149.00, It has a 14 pound max drag which is huge, so at any setting I have set it at it is smoother than my Curados were and if I need I can locker down even more, then it only weighs about 6.2 ounces, and is physically about the size of the 50E but holds a full 150 yards of 20 Lbs. test Power Pro. 5.4:1, 6.4:1 and 7.2:1 gear ratios and one piece aluminum frame, 11 BB and SSSSSSOOOOooooo ssmmooootthh!!! You can always sell it and recoup the cost if you aint happy!! I do love mine! Oh yea and centrifugal and magnetic cast control both, not to mention friction click control on the spool!!!

  25. That jig pictured has a 60 degree hook and a thick weedguard, it is different then our original swim jig. Most swim jigs have a 30 degree hook (light to medium wire) and a lighter weedguard. IMHO take a look at any of the smaller shiops making stuff, either us *link at bottom of the post, or Seibert Outdoors (*link at side of page) we are both sponsors of this page and put out way better quality Jigs and SPinnerbaits then booyah could ever think of. 5yr olds in Guatemala really dont care about quality, they only care about whether they are getting there 5 pennies a day.

  26. I like Trilene XT, it is a little stiff compared to the XL but a little KVD line conditioner makes it handle great and it is super tough.

  27. That's because they are mass produced with a rubber keeper and not hand tied. My favorite swim jig and bluegill imitation swim jig is the NorthStar Custom Baits "new gill". You will NEVER have issues with the skirt sliding down on this jig.

  28. If you're going to do that, why not just buy a Netbait Paca Craw or Paca Chunk?

  29. I would also recommend youtube. I know you said you enjoy books, but youtube is full of instructional videos that you can use once you decide to really nail down a technique that you like. I also agree with North GA Hillbilly, get some small hooks, some splitshot weights, some bobbers and whatever bait is readily availabe in your area and go have a blast with your son.
