  1. "i can point our probably hundreds of examples of these same members whining and moaning about the whole marriage/family stuff." Yea, and us happily married guys could point out hundreds of examples of some young man on this forum acting like a drama queen because of his girl trouble. Fact is, if you have relationships (husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, classmate, co-worker, fellow BR member, etc.) you're going to have problems. And, when problems arise, there will inevitably be whining and moaning. "Why limit yourself to one ****** the rest of your life? You really think your sex drive (or hers for that matter) is going to last for a while? No. she will get sick of you, and you of her." I've been married for 10 years, and my sex life is better today than it was when I was a newly-wed. The kids keep us from getting it on quite as frequently, but the couple of times a week we do get together is great! We've been together so long we actually know what we're doing! You've bought society's lie that single guys get more than married folks. Bull! Truth is, we get it more often, and it's of better quality. While you're out hunting for a drink of water, we just go to the faucet and know what we're getting isn't contaminated! If you don't want to get married, don't. But, if you change your mind, I hope you get to experience the blessings of a good marriage.

  3. There are also big snakes, as you know sometimes to get some big boys (Bass) that's sitting under brush you walk into the bushes on the bank and I almost placed my right foot down on a Mocinson (spelling) snake coiled up in the bushes, trying to get that perfect cast to a bush and something say look down to where your about to step with my foot in the air...........Holy is the word that 1st came out of my mouth mixed with some other words behind it.. ...LOL. I was on the bank jumping around calling my partner, that ended my day in Holyland......So the point Im making becareful of where you walking.

  4. All along since I have moved to Jacksonville, about 3 months ago, I have been searching for a lunker pond and it has been in my backyard this whole time.... Here are some of the fish I caught today. I was fishing for about 1 hour and a half and I caught 8 in total all over 2.5lbs. Should have been 9 because I caught one that was easily 4lbs and I brought him on land and was about to lip em to get the hook out and he jumped, hook popped out, and he rolled back into the lake and swam off!!! I also had a huge one jump out of the water and the hook flew right out of his mouth, easily bigger than any of the ones I have in these pictures. I caught them using spinner baits, black and pink power bait worm, and a lure that resembles a shiner. Here are some pics of the fish I caught....

  6. I used to use a surgeon's knot but wanted to test this Alberto knot I've heard about. I also tried a uni-uni just to see what it would do. I tied the leader knot and then tied a palomar to a ring which was hooked to something stationary, giving me something to pull against. I figured I would start by seeing if I could get the palomar to break first. If not, I would move on to testing the actual break strength using the line to lift objects of varying weights. I never had to get that far. The alberto knot beat the palomar everytime...several times. Since I always use a palomar on my hooks I am comfortable using the alberto for my leaders from now on. The surgeon's knot, which I had been using and had gotten to beat a palomar before in the past, lost everytime...as did the uni-uni. For the alberto you HAD to tie it exactly right. This meant wrapping the braid up and back down the leader loop with the same number of wraps both ways and it meant running the tag of the braid through the loop the same way it went in originally. If any of these things didn't occur correctly the knot failed. It wasn't hard to do but it definitely made a difference if it wasn't right.

  7. last night we had our meeting to see where the king of the glades classic would be. the 5 choices were holey lands, sawgrass, the big turnaround, belle glade and clewiston. clewiston was the location that was drawn out of the hat. we were boat 17 out of 20 and we knew right where we were going to go. last saturday my partner and i found some good fish and decided to go back and roll the dice. what a great decision that was, because we had 25 pounds in the boat by 11 am. we actually got tired of catching 4 pounders and decided to go check out another area. the other area was junk so we headed back to our original spot. second cast back and we banged another 7 pounder. needless to say we stayed there for the rest of the day. we ended up winning the tourny with 33.26 pounds with a 9.22 kicker. second place had 22 pounds and third had 21. what a great day it was!

  10. I have fished with one of Kent's and it is 'the cats meow." I would love to own one, or three, but cannot justify the money on one. I almost bought one a couple months ago, but instead went for the ci4 2500 and love it. while not as refined as the stella, I think it is the "best value" for your money as far as Shimano spinning reels re concerned, or any brand for that matter. 11. I am fairly new to them myself and I have issues with the cast. For whatever reason I can't cast as far as other soft plastics. Probably an operator failure. Anyhoo, from my research on this site and watching videos on YouTube, I would have to say that it would be unfair to limit yourself by just one or 2 ways of rigging any of those. Simply put, the design of almost all of the RT makes them extremely versatile and each of them could be used for c-rig, drop shot, t-rig, rage rig, shaky head, or any other way that suits your fancy. I would say that it's hard to fish them wrong, but I seem to be the one person that does. Haha. If you want some ideas, check out Strike King's Rage Tail videos on YouTube or type in the search "ragetaillures". Very awesome vids.

  12. Under $100, no. I agree to get the Citica. Match it with a MH Jig and Worm Shimano Sellus rod and you will be good to go. And dont forget the YoZuri.

  13. Check with the Florida Fish and Game and see if they have been maintaining that lake over the years, such as for hydrilla and weed control. If they have, then it is a public lake, expecially if it has a desgniated boat ramp. If not, then each and everyone of those home owners need to pony up ALL costs of lake maintenance. Tax paying monies are not to be used to maintain private property.

  16. i'm addicted to my z-man's. don't think the hook is the problem. any respectable fish (and even their children) can take that hook in. sounds like they just weren't committing to that particular bait that day. they were bumping or head bashing it to wound it. when that's the case i switch lures till i find one they will inhale instead of bump. if ur throwing a white/chartreuse change to a dark color z-man. then try moving to another reaction bait with blades/vibration like a spinnerbait. maybe a rattletrap. if that doesn't work try a non vibration reaction like swimjig. when trying a different lure, use the same color as the FIRST z-man you got bumps on b/c you want to build on what you know is semi-working till u can hook them good. good luck

  19. Frog rod attributes: It needs to be long for pulling the fish out of cover and taking up a lot of line on the hooksets. I like a 7' - 7' 6" rod. It needs to have a good backbone for solid hooksets and pulling fish out of cover. It needs to have a soft enough tip so you can launch the frog way back into cover. It does not need to be sensitive if it is strictly a top water rod, you can save some money here. Frog fishing with mono is asking for hook up problems. I get frog hits from up to 100ft away, I can't expect to get a good hook set with a 100ft rubber band between my rod and the fish. Even if you do manage to set the hook, good luck getting a big boy back to the boat once he gets tangled in vegetation. Braid is the way to go on all non treble hook top water lures imo, especially those used in heavy cover. The hookset has to be hard and I find that waiting three seconds is often too long with a hollow body frog. The fish will spit them out pretty quickly. As soon as I see a blowup I simultaneously look for my frog and reel up slack. If I feel the fish or have minimal line slack and can't see my frog I immediately set the hook.

  21. I know I have said this before. Working at BPS, I have seen that every line on our wall is hated by someone. Like they say, ya cant please none of the people none of the time. I can tell you from watching some of the guys I have fished with, a lot of issues blamed on line is user error. Ya GOTTA retie at least once a month for petes sake!!! Hootie!!

  23. I have 6 Shimano Calcuttas, 4 Curado 200 B's and 4 Citica E's and a host of other reels. I love the older Shimanos. I'm not sure about this G series. The sideplates on them wiggle. It feels like crap. The Lews feel awesome in the store. If they hold up and you can get parts, they will be very good reels for and give Shimano a run for their money. Why the heck Shimano got rid of the Curado B I'll never know. I wish some other manufacturer would just copy the thing since apparently it is useless to Shimano anymore. I'd buy the Curado B no matter where it was made. Most all reel mechanics will tell you that the legendary reel is their favorite to work on and most often they will tell you it is their personal favorite. Shimano has been putting out a new Curado basically every two years since discontinuing the original. It's like they are running around like a chicken with their head cut off. They don't know what to do. They put something out it's too heavy. They put another out and they can't make money at $179.00. Then they put another out, make it in Malasia to save money, and the sideplates are loose(Citica G's too) Now we get them that the sideplate moves in your hand. Don't think I'lll buy it. If feels cheap. Vote with your money. The Lews are getting rave reviews and the guy that is running it seems top notch. He actually seems to know what he's doing and Shimano who seems to being putting out Curados every two years does not seem to know what they are doing and maybe even somewhat clueless. If you can get Lews serviced, and it holds up like what some people are beginning to say, well it could be a legend again.

  24. texas rigged gary yamamoto senkos are probably my biggest producer.. but I love to fish frogs, got a few SPRO frogs, also going to try the strike king sexy frog.. other than that I fish spinners and buzz baits with good success... haven't done a whole lot of crank bait fishing yet, but am going to start soon... most of the ponds and lakes I fish are have very heavy vegetation, which makes the texas rigged senko my go to set up in order to keep from hauling in a million weeds.

  26. I see you have 9 posts...welcome to Bass Resource Southeast! Yea man..i almost stepped on a huge moccasin in tall grass while fishing the canal bank that runs west from sawgrass fish camp. We parked at the end of the C14 and went over the levee. That snake was as thick as a slab of German bologna. I fish in a boat now. Definitely be careful bank beating.

  28. Different Walmarts carry different brands depending on where you're located. Most of them carry Trilene Big Game which is good stuff. I've found Spiderwire Super Mono there as well and it's also good stuff. I've been burned by Stren in the past so I can't suggest it.

  32. I fish from shore, I can't stand having to carry another rod. I keep a spare in the car in case of disaster. I am usually wading or walking, never in one spot. I would hate carrying a couple rods with me on shore. I do carry an extra reel in case I ever get one of those, what are they called backlashes? Never had one yet but I gear they are bad??? I read an article by Rick Clunn about getting used to one rod for all techniques, it was interesting. I grab my 7' M or MH Avid and can fish just about everything with it. I would not know what to do with 12 different rod actions. Mike
