  1. Solid 4lbers make me happy, green or brown. But like Kent I only keep track of those 5lbs or bigger.

  2. Mastering both types of tackle gives you more options to choose from in fine tuning presentations and IMO enhances the overall fishing experience.

  4. Gander Mountain is closing its store in Hanover County and Green Top Sporting Goods is moving in there, the company announced this afternoon. Green Top, a fixture on U.S. 1 for decades, will relocate to Gander Mountain's 67,000-square-foot store in the NorthCross Center. "We have outgrown the facility and are unable to continue to serve coustomers in the best way without getting some additional space," said Bill Prout, president and chief financial officer of Green Top Sporting Goods. "We intend to continue to provide that level of service that our customers are used to." http://www2.timesdis...g-g-ar-1956017/

  6. A young boy went up to his father and asked him, 'Dad, what is the difference between potentially and realistically?' The father thought for a moment, then answered, 'Go ask your mother if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars. Then ask your sister if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a Million dollars, and then ask your brother if he'd sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars. Come back and tell me what you learn from that.' So the boy went to his mother and asked, 'Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?' The mother replied, 'Of course I would! We could really use that money to fix up the house and send you kids to a great University!' The boy then went to his sister and asked, 'Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?' The girl replied, 'Oh my Gawd! I LOVE Brad Pitt I would sleep with him in a heartbeat, are you nuts?' The boy then went to his brother and asked, 'Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?' 'Of course,' the brother replied. 'Do you know what a million Bucks would buy?' The boy pondered the answers for a few days and then went back to his dad. His father asked him, 'Did you find out the difference between 'potentially' and 'realistically'?' The boy replied, 'Yes, 'Potentially', you and I are sitting on Three million dollars . But 'realistically', we're just living with two hookers and a ****.

  7. Once again SouthFla speaks words of wisdom. Heres my take. Garmin extremely user friendly, I have the 5208 touch screen on my consel to get me there with the ease of touching and dragging the screen and tapping the screen to mark a way point. I realize its a top end unit but most Garmins i find easier to use. Faults. Less detailed maps and use of only Garmin software. Lowrance allows the use of more detail software and are ten times more detailed, the new Gen 2s are super fast. I keep one in the front for zeroing in on ledges and so forth. Faults. I find them a little more complected to use, but keep in mind Im 165 years old so you may not find this. By the way Dolphins are very good boats.

  8. I only have one spinning outfit and it belongs to my lovely wife. My style of fishing isn't what you would call finesse.

  10. I'd feel naked without at least one spinning rod in my boat. They aren't right for everything but there's some things that they do so much better than a baitcaster.

  11. Small bass will steal your pinchers too. I set the hook anyways. I'd rather loose the claws on my bait than pull it away from a light biting big fish. I don't remember who it was that said it but someone on here called a clawless Rage craw a "Rage Turd". On a bad day I'll have Rage Turds all over the bottom of the boat

  12. Right now I'm battling a pretty serious swim jig addiction.

  13. Any fish that doesn't move towards the boat on the hookset peaks my interest. Any fish that pulls drag is memorable. And back in my tournament days, it was any bass that got the competition to groan or cuss at the weigh in that made me smile.

  15. 75% of my fishing is from the bank...and I don't look at it as a bad thing. I fish anytime I can and it's usually for only 1-2 hours when I'm able to get away from family or work. As others have mentioned, stick to working parallel to the shore when at at possible - especially with weeds and chunk rock. Buzzbaits, Spook-type baits, squarebill crankbaits, and senkos work well. My waters are stained - murky too, so I usually stick to something with chartreuse or darker colors along with working your baits slow. If you think you're fishing slow, then slow down a little more. Cast multiple times to areas that "look" fishy (big rock/stump sticking out of the water, weed edge points/cut ins). You've eliminated a lot of fishable water already by walking the banks. Just continue to practice and try different techniques if you find yourself getting skunked. Flipping jigs and creature baits in the weeds from the bank can be a blast during the summer! Talk about hand-to-hand combat! At the end of the day, it easier (for me) to accept getting skunked from the shore vs on a boat with 8 rods and 100 lure choices. Either way, it's better than watching TV.

  16. That's how a baitcaster works. If the reel is engaged and the main gear is turning the pinion but spool isn't turning the bottom of the pinion is not engaged with the spool. You may have the yoke upside down preventing the pinion from seating.

  17. Loving someone does not depend on looks, this statement "Lastly, and I know this is shallow, but I can't stomach the idea of only being intimate with one girl for the rest of my life, especially WHEN she gets old, wrinkly, and likely puts on a good bit of weight." shows you have a LOT of maturing to do. It may be best you wait for actual love, not the kind you say because its the "right" thing to say. If the hint of leaving someone just because they don't fit into your approved set of looks you do not love them. By the sounds of things you posted, having love and kids needs to wait until you mature enough. Maturity is not an age.

  18. Tony, when you get to that age, that younger gal is called a trophy wife. Unless you have the kind of money that The Donald has, you will most likely have to settle for what Larry the Cable Guy calls a leopard. Basically it's a cougar with a lot of liver spots! From the married side of the tally book, I'd have to say that the stress of keeping a wife and children, and grandchildren, and great grandchildren in your life isn't nearly as bad as the benefits. For everytime I growled at one of the kids for a bad report card, an outrageous phone bill, or getting caught sneaking in late at night, there were times that I will cherish until I die. Like the simple joy of a small child getting up in the morning and climbing into my lap to cuddle while they wake up. And I get to relive that special time with each generation that comes along. If you've ever felt what it's like to help someone with one of live's lessons, you can possibly imagine what it feels like when I child thanks you for being there for them. For many married couples, the number one cause of stress isn't directly the kids, but it is the cost of them. The same money you plan on having loads of is what causes most arguments. For us married guys, we have the chance to pool our resources with a life long partner. My wife and I have had some real doozies for arguments, but we always find a way to get through it. It's a long trip through life to an end none of us can escape, and I can't imagine making it without her. That's because a couple that is committed to each other will have a lot less to worry about than the guy who needs to keep spending more and more trying to attract the next gold digger he's trying to attract. But I will admit that married life isn't for everyone. If that's the case for you, I hope it works out for you.

  19. It floats well, been using for all my topwater except for frogs (65lb braid). I always use KVD Line & Lure conditioner, I do not have any issues with managing it. Like pretty much any line if you go awhile between trips it will coil but not a huge issue. The lake I fish is clear, visibility to 8-9 feet, and no issues with visibility I can tell.

  20. Are you sure you don't have "ghost drag"? This is where the entire "spool" of braided line loosens on the spool and turns freely. It's very deceptive and unless you know better, you think the reel spool isn't turning.

  22. I have been studying up on catching big bass. I read three books on the topic last month. One was Doug Hannon, Big Bass Magic. Another was Sowbelly by Monte Burbe, about the obsessed big bass fisherman. I also read a new book on the world record bass, spam. This was an awesome book about a guy who raises and catches a new world record. I am not even close yet this year. I was like the guy who can see the big ones down there and not catch them!

  23. I have been fishing the 57 acre lake at the Collierville Town Hall. Generally good numbers and a few big bass: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1280746059 http://www.ragetail.com/ragetalk/index.php?topic=2053.0
